Western Federal Credit Union has changed it’s name to Unify Financial Credit Union.
There is a difference between a Federal and a non Federal credit union.
Credit Union’s with «Federal» in the name are so much better in my opinion.

What a horrible experience dealing with Western Fed! Not — this branch, but their Customer Service call line. OMG! My mom was assessed a $ 25 late fee that the credit union itself deemed should be waived. Then a month later, late fee reappears on her statement. I’ve had an occasional issue with dealing with a late fee with Capital One or Citi Card — and they’re able to wave the fee in a matter of a minute. But not Western Fed! 43 minutes waiting on hold and having to deal with two reps regarding this… and then they say it’s going to take 24 to 48 hrs for «another department» to process the waiving of the fee. Unbelievable! We cut up the credit card and will never be a customer of Western Fed again.

Love this location as well as the one on western. This location is open on Saturday’s and also prints new debit cards right then and there. No need to wait for two weeks for one to come in the mail. I’ve NEVER experienced bad customer service with WFCU. Their customer service is beyond great.
I had Jeannette help me and she went above and beyond what I could’ve asked for as far as customer service goes. She answered all my questions and was so sweet and patient in explaining anything I didn’t understand. Very genuine and didn’t show any signs of being impatient when having to reiterate herself.
Love that I can also use co-​op shared branches and ATMS for my banking needs if I’m not in the South Bay or near a WFCU location.
I’ve been with them for years and can’t believe they don’t have more and great reviews! if you’re considering a bank I’d go with them.

Daniel was awesome. He was very patient and helpful in taking care of what I needed. Everyone there makes sure that you walk out getting what you need. I have been banking here for years and have never had any problems.

its not related to this location just in general Western Federal Credit Union does not support US small business :(The are worst then the big banks. To apply for business line of credit the want from you processing fee of $ 500 its a joke. no other bank charges this kind of fees to apply. The just want to discourage you. I don’t like to do business with institutions that does not support our local businesses !

This is not a good idea. If somebody came by your work today looks like a nice thing…, but how far are they from your house. You could have direct deposit, you can even transfer a large sum for one account to them. But they sent me an ATM That had no Visa or MasterCard logo. To set up a transfer to another account at another bank means to baby sit for a week. Non of The so-​called partners can help you. (I now realize they are ATM only unless you can drive to a branch) So if you want want to have funds not available when you need them, this is the best!

Don’t fall for it. You won’t get 0.74% APR for auto loan. I have a perfect credit score (over 800) and more than enough income to get approved for the loan, but they denied. They instead offered 2.99% APR. I guess that’s exactly how car dealers make you come to their showrooms by advertising cars they don’t have and manage to sell other cars in stock. Simply do not fall for it. You won’t get it.

After many years using this bank for my business banking needs, they have failed. I made an error in July I tried to correct and got bad information every time I called the corporate office. I have referred several customers to this bank. The Ventura branch folks are awesome. Corporate office tells you wrong information to get their money and they don’t care how long you have been a customer or how many people you brought to them. Still got wrong information today. They can write me off. I have several other banks and credit unions and I’m glad to do business with someone that understands that we can make mistakes. Hope they learn. I’ll be waiting for the canned response from the fake looking western Unilocaler. Go somewhere else.

This place is great. membership start with little deposit, not like some other banks that have complicated requirements. The rep does the setting for online banking right away and get the debit card and print couple of your checks with Your name in it already, just impressive service, Save time, no long lines wasting time at the big banks. Low rates for loans. Great fast friendly service. Omg you just have to check this place. Awesome awesome so far.
The only thing is that the booth in front has no privacy and I can hear all the conversation about other people banking and the Rep. talked really laud. I wouldn’t want to have a conversation there about my personal matter.

Let me begin by saying that I was blown away by this credit union’s service — at least at the Contact Center in Torrance. The branches I’ve been to are also staffed by very friendly people, and wait times have been adequate. I opened my account in May, and at first, there were a few hiccups in relation to my account, which were rapidly fixed by an executive in the company who responded within hours to my email. I was extremely happy at how fast my concerns were remedied.
The Contact Center staff is amazing — friendly, down to earth and efficient. The Consumer Lending manager, Steve L., is a very friendly gentleman who seems to truly care about his members and their financial health, which is something vital to me as a member. Like any other company, there are one or two staffers who err on the side of unprofessionalism, but that is very rare here. Overall, my experience is rated below — But let me say, if you are thinking of joining this Credit Union, you will NOT be disappointed with their customer service and banking practices. They have earned a member for life! SoCal, this is the Credit Union for you !

This credit union is worthless. They charged their yearly fee and I only had a few dollars in the account since I don’t use it, so they sent me a letter threatening for final demand of repayment. This is the only notice i received! So I call the number on the letter and it’s just a busy signal. I’m paying the 29 or so dollars and closing the account. Also, the web site and customer service blows, and they make it impossible to find out what your member number is. Next…

Slower than slow service here. Seems like everyone but me has a problem at the window. No one that comes here has an easy transaction and being that this place is slower than anything, it just makes it worse. When planning on coming here, calculate 10 – 15 minute wait per every person standing in line. You can add 3 – 4 nonworking, just standing around doing nothing employees for every 1 teller that is actually working. Irritating and frustrating.

Get with it, Western Federal Credit Union branch on Anza in Torrance!
You simply have insufficient staffing for the customer volume on Saturdays.

I am a member of a different Union but came in here one day because all credit unions are partners. I am not going to name the credit union I belong to avoid any suspicion that I am advertising for them.
Western CU had one teller when I came in. The woman must of been new because she did not know how to do anything. She was very slow and then had to have the manager help her. The worst part was there was a long line forming and they did not even try to open more windows. I don’t think I will ever come back here again.
There are better choices of CU’s in the area. Stay away from this one.

I’m surprised by the low reviews for this branch/​credit union. I’ve been with WFCU for years and have never had a bad customer service experience. This is the main beach I frequent since it’s so close to our home. I love that it’s open on Saturdays and that I can withdraw from non-​credit union ATMs (like once or twice a month) and NOT get charged a fee by WFCU. You might get charged by the other bank but not WFCU. Of course it’s FREE if you use any credit union ATM.
There is parking available but the lot is small so it does become problematic entering and leaving at times. But I love that there’s spaces right in front of the ATM which helps since I have two kiddies and need to be quick.
The only thing I love more about the other WFCU branches (on Rosecrans or Western) is that they have a drive thru. This location is smaller so I don’t think that’ll be possible.

Why is it that every time I come here I see 4 – 5 people doing apparently nothing while there is 1 or maybe 2 tellers open? I’ve never not waited in line here, unfortunately it is the only branch near my office. And just a note for the management, the glass office in the front is probably not the best place for disciplinary meetings. The whole line can see all of you, and its not exactly comfortable.

I’m not quite sure why people have given this place such low reviews. I have never encountered a rude employee and have never had an issue here.
This location is clean and professional. Employees always greet me with a smile and are very polite. They help me with whatever I need and if I have questions, they actually take the time to listen and I never feel rushed.
Every time I come here, I have a good experience.

I honestly don’t know how this credit union got 4 stars. Maybe it’s from their own employees. I’ve been to 3 Western’s: the one on Anza and Western Ave in Torrance, as well as the one on Avaiation Blvd in Redondo Bch. All of them have bad, bad, BAD customer service. It’s almost degrading.
I even heard a teller make fun of a comment made by a customer! !! They can’t even say thank you b/​c their egos are so big. These are the type of uneducated people who’s never been to college and are envious of you for whatever reason. Or that they just don’t like their jobs and they take it out on you.
You’re a horrible credit union and I will tell all my family and friends in the south bay!

The 1 star I’ve allowed is for the lovely customer service. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been gracious and helpful; it’s the internal policies regarding trusts and transfers that are entirely lacking and highly unethical.
Western closed my Mother’s trust account without a death certificate. Prior to that, they had been provided with POA for assets and letters of incapacitation; Legally, the account should have been open way before it finally was. After enjoying a full 12 business days of interest income I was again allowed access to the account. However, in attempting to liquidate money market funds, I found there were again flags and a hold put on the trust’s money.
That, my fellow Unilocalers is the short version.
It seems to me banks, and credit unions in particular are very tightly wound when holding on to other people’s money. I can understand the importance of that considering identity theft being so rampant but I have, time and time again with this CU run into delays after providing the proper paperwork. It’s unethical.
How many member’s do they do this to? Over the course of time WESTERN FCU must have a fine bit of pocket change lying around. No wonder the customer service is so wonderful, people like to be catered to while they’re being f*24ed…
