Came here today… the guy… I’m assuming the owner… told us that it was their last day! Business is bad! They closed today! No more Royal Cup Café in Torrance! Booh! I love this place!

I’m kinda oatmeal crazed right now… I order it whenever I can. So I was pretty excited to see that the Royal Cup Café served oatmeal. One oatmeal and one latte… and I was going to be one happy camper! Or so I thought… It was about 25 minutes later(but it seemed like 105 minutes later) my latte was served. While not the best latte I’ve had, it would be a sufficient for getting my caffeine fill for the day. Now the oatmeal was another story… The nice yet kinda out of it man working the counter brought me a small bowl of oatmeal and said«we were out of the big bowls so just let me know when you want more.» Huh? I looked around the empty coffee shop and wondered who took all their bowls! It turned out I would not need more oatmeal because the 1 bite I had was enough to turn me off oatmeal forever. Nothing like a small bowl of cold, clumpy oatmeal. Mmmmmm…

This place is hilarious. Andrea R and I went here for a morning pick me up. I ordered a black coffee. It took approximately 23 minutes to get it. To say the service is slow is a drastic understatement. I also had a bagel that I would have starved waiting for if I’d been crazy hungry. The good side was the man working there was actually super nice. And my bagel was toasted perfectly. However, I doubt I’d ever visit again unless I’m out for a very, very, very leisurely afternoon.

Service second only to the quality. Walk in and enjoy the eclectic nature of the place… the folks, the art, the music, the tables, couches, chairs… all great. Now, why were we here… oh yeah, who cares what it looks like, taste the offerings… me, I am a tea guy — they had great wonderful green teas. Steeped to perfection. Pastries — mmm, pastries… had to add in a brownie to keep the energy up… and mmmm, brownies are very yummy too. So it is simple, whether you are here… or in the LBC — stop in, say hi, and get a great cup of tea… and my friends tell me that the coffee is good too.

I’m a sucker for words. Put a sign up that says«Gourmet Sandwiches,» and I’ll be there. This was the case after passing by the signage at Royal Cup for a few weeks. I was craving a hot dog or a burger, but I ignored my instincts and we ate here. After staring at the menu for a few minutes, I wasn’t feeling any of it. For some reason the thought of just leaving to find food to make me happy, made me feel guilty, lame. So we played it safe and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich to share. We were then given our drink and two bags of blue potato chips. After a few minutes out comes our food: Yay! More chips! Not really exciting though. Why give us more chips? Oh well. The grilled cheese was okay. Nothing amazing and it was a little pricey at $ 6+.
