El Camino College – Supplemental Instructor Program

This is a great program at El Camino College. Admittedly, I am a bit biased here since i am a coach in the Supplemental Instructon Program. But even if I wasn’t I would still think it’s great.
If you are a student at El Camino College you can enroll in a course that has a Supplemental Instructon option. When you do that, you are then able to attend sessions that help you perform better in the class you enrolled in.
So for example, you are going back to school and you find out that you have to take a math class for your new major. Maybe it’s been 10 years or more since you’ve set foot in a math class. The whole thing can be very intimidating. When you enroll in an SI math course, you can attend a group study session led by a student coach who has gon through the program successfully. It’s free and it will help raise your grade in the course.
Student coaches also get an opportunity to learn about teaching and develop leadership skills. It’s a win win all the way around. So if you are an El Camino student check it out.
