Paula’s Donuts

Great donuts, lots of flavors to choose from. We were there in the afternoon and they were selling dozens of donuts. Really worth the visit and loved that hey we’re open until 7pm

In our continuing quest for the best donut in America, we stopped at Paula’s. We got a dozen so we could try a bunch of flavors. The honey dip is your standard wglazed donut. Paula’s was good, soft and nicely glazed. The peanut cream was over filled with peanut flavored cream and topped with chocolate. Tasty but a tad too much cream filling. The coconut was delicious. The chocolate fry cake glazed was very good. The chocolate covered fry cake was very tasty. The cinnamon donut was decadent. Overall, Paula’s donuts does not disappoint. Best in the US? Nope. SK’S in LA still reigns supreme on our list.

When a dozen donuts weighs about 5 lbs you know that’s a good sign. The donuts here are amazing. The cheese donuts is my personal favorite, a glazed donut filled with cheese Danish filling. I can’t go to Paula’s without ordering this donut.
They’re breakfast sandwiches are made fresh. The bagel breakfast sandwich with egg and meat is the most delicious breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had! It takes a few minutes for them to make but it is WELL worth the wait.
It’s usually very busy in here with long lines but it is WORTH THE WAIT! They always have a lot of employees working which makes the line move quickly.

So good. Make sure you bring someone with you to split a donut because they are HUGE!
I wish I could buy a candle that smells the way Paulas Donuts smells. :)

Long time Paula’s Donuts fan. You almost don’t feel guilty eating them, because you get a nice arm workout just by carrying a box of a dozen. Literally the heaviest donuts you will ever encounter.
Paula’s Donuts are fresh, and completely stuffed with filling. My favorite is the granulated sugar with jelly. Their jelly is smooth and delicious, not chunky like you find in other donut shops.
Two Paula’s tips: 1: donut holes, or even the donuts themselves, make a GREAT variation to a wedding cake. I’ve been to several weddings where they opted for a «donut bar», and it was a crowd pleaser. My brother at his rehearsal dinner had a donut hole table, and not one went untouched. Paula’s is super accommodating with this.
2: an underrated Paula’s menu item is their delicious breakfast sandwich. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

These donuts are just plain awesome!
I will splurge on a donut once in a while from Paula’s but I always make sure I place an order for my mom’s birthday each year. I have been ordering a Texas Donut each year for the past few years. Now it’s not a birthday without one. Call the day before to place an order. You can request special details and it always comes out looking fantastic. Get it filled with Angel cream; you won’t regret it.
If I had to select favorites for donuts, I would definitely choose the red velvet and chocolate angel cream. I typically dislike red velvet products but there’s something special about this donut. I once even picked up a dozen red velvet donuts for a red carpet award viewing event. They were a hit!

Oh, Paulas !!! if you live in buffalo and never been here, you need to go. Everything here is great and the people that work there are nice and always give good recommendations if you really don’t know what you want to try. The Strawberry shortcake donut I had there… words cant describe how good it was. Prices are extremely good and if you bring Paulas to work you’re the hero of the day lol.

I’m pretty sure the beak crack or heroin into their donuts to keep us coming back again and again and again.

A classic donut shop. The hardest decision is always what you will fill your assorted box with. They always have a large selection of fresh treats and ample staff to help during the rush. It is super convenient to stop on my way to work– I know that they will get me in and out quickly. Definitely a must have for any Buffalonian or visitor. You have not lived until Paula’s! They will make you forget about the popular chains.

Friendly, fast service. The staff at Paula’s is very patient, which is a must have quality when interacting with their customers. What I mean is, looking at all the options of fresh made doughnuts and cinnamon rolls, etc., you may think you know what you are going into the store to get but then you see the wall of sweet goodness, you can’t help but take a minute or two pondering which flavors you will take and which you will sadly leave behind.
I left with two red velvet, an apple crueler, two Bavarian cream with chocolate frosting, a sugar filled with jelly, and a peanut stick. My out of town friends could not decide which they loved the best. Some were still warm. The sweet smell filled my kitchen as we shared each one with one another.

I’m not so much a donut person, but since everyone was raving about this place, I decided to try it out.
I had the strawberry shortcake donut and it was darn good! I was a bit apprehensive in trying it since it sounded like it could be on the heavy side with the cream, the strawberries and the jam, but I was wrong! The donut was super soft and the powder made it feel delicate and fluffy!
The cream on the inside was so light and complimented the soft dough. The strawberries and jam were not too sweet-​which I appreciated. I literally ate the entire donut in 2 minutes and I’m a pretty slow eater.
Though I only had the strawberry shortcake donut and a cup of hot chocolate, ¹⁰⁄₁₀ I’d recommend to just stop by and try something out!

This place sells the best donuts I’ve ever tried! So many different varieties to try from & even if you get the same one you will never get tired of it. I highly recommend this place if you love donuts; must try!

Their amazing one of a kind delicious homemade desert! Good for any time of the day breakfast lunch or dinner !!! I ordered three dozen for my party it was a suggcess !

I prefer my doughnuts not filled with the cream because it’s too sweet for me. But the sour dough glazed, the twists and the peanut crusted doughnuts have made me so happy.
Service is always fast and friendly.

I hear lots of people complain that Paula’s donuts are too big. I’ll never understand that. It’s like asking to hold the whip cream on your milk shake because you are watching your weight… ugh.
Paula’s is, simply, as good as it gets when it comes to donuts. Best I’ve ever had, and a necessary stop when family/​friends are visiting. They are huge, dense, sweet, and (if you like filled donuts… I don’t) over-​filled. Yet, they are cheap at about $ 1 each (same as Tim Horton’s?!). Only classic donuts flavors (i.e., no bacon). I like the chocolate honey dip the most (ask for a warm one from the back, if available). Red velvet is delicious too, and you can’t go wrong with frosted + sprinkles. I’m not a fan of the peanut stick, although it seems to be a crowd favorite.
Line is often long on weekends, but the workers are very efficient. Credit cards are accepted. The parking lot is a little obnoxious/​narrow/​hazardous. I just park a bit down to avoid the nonsense!

Best donut place ever. My favorite is the peanut crème. One donut is definitely a meal. The little donuts (timbits is the only thing I know to call them even though that is Tim Hortons lingo.) are amazing. Always get a mix. The red velvet minis are delish!

When you walk into a room with a box of Paula’s Donuts, you are suddenly the most popular person in the room. (almost) EVERYONE loves Paula’ Donuts. Especially the folks at the Veterans One Stop Center, to whom Paula sends a small wagon train of donuts every weekday. I’m a plain cake girl, nothing gooey or squishy about my snackies. Some of Paula’s Donuts can be oversized, overfilled, overwhelming in their sweetness.
Paula also honors the Erie County «Thank a Vet» card at all her stores. 20% off everything? So, is that like buying 5 and getting 1 free? No, because a half-​dozen costs less than 6 singles. soo, if I buy a half dozen and get 20% off THAT, then, never mind.
Just know that whatever your donut/​bagel/​bear claw need. Paula will take care of you.
One star off because alas, Paula does not deliver to the home.

They always run out of Bear Claws. That is my only negative. Other than that… best donuts on the planet!!!

Im sure all the previous reviews can attest to the deliciousness of Paula’s donuts and how they have become a Buffalo staple. I decided to try their Texas donuts as I ordered it for a friend’s bday who is a diehard Paula’s fan.
I called in to place an order for a custom texas donut and the service was very friendly, and they allowed me to customize my donut cake with 2 different kinds of fillings, frosting of choice, sprinkles and a message on it. The only downside was that they only do the texas donut with a regular glazed donut, and wish they offered it in other options such as red velvet. My order was ready to be picked up in only about 2 hours which is great for a last minute gift idea! The service was super friendly when I had picked up my cake, and my total was only $ 10.99 for a huge customized donut cake! A steal compared to ordering a sheet cake from Wegmans, and way more fun and delicious! I got a chocolate frosted glazed donut, half filled with angel crème and boston crème. The donut was delicious and overly stuffed with yummy filling and big enough to feed about 6 – 8 people! Definitely recommend!

These doughnuts are very tasty. Lots of assorted flavors. They are a little on the heavy side making the guilt trip that much worse. The red velvet doughnut is my favorite and of course you can never go wrong with a regular glaze doughnut which are also delicious here. It’s always busy bc this place is extremely popular but the wait isn’t too bad to get to those scrumptious treats.

The lines for this place gets pretty long but it shortens quickly so don’t be intimated by long lines when you walk in!
The donuts are pretty sweet (especially the filled ones)! Don’t underestimate the size of their donuts either, they’re really big. My favorite is their red velvet. I haven’t gotten to try all of them yet, but you’ve been warned! They’re pretty sweet, so if you don’t have a sweet tooth, this isn’t your place. Aim for non-​filled one if you want to give this place a try but you don’t have a sweet tooth.

Paula’s Donuts are one of my favorite things about Buffalo! Their donuts are amazing and the best I’ve ever had!
I came here a few weeks ago early in the morning before the Bills game to pick up a dozen donuts to eat with friends while tailgating. While I was in line, I checked in and it instantly brought up an offer for 2 FREE donuts if you buy a dozen. Awesome! I was really excited about this especially since I haven’t been using Unilocal for that long and this popped up.
The line was pretty long at about 7am but they had plenty of people working and it moved very quickly. I got an assorted amount of donuts but my favorite are the red velvet and chocolate custard filled!

My girlfriend introduced me to Paula’s donut
s over the summer. Best donut I have ever had in my life! I’ve had them all, krispy kreme, dunkin donuts doesn’t come close to touching the great taste of these donuts. Also there not stingy with the filling like most. God bless ya Paula…

I can’t go in with out buying a bunch of food. Donut are fresh and tasty. Who thinks up some of those delicious combinations. MMM the muffins are good too. A+ taste great.

We dont have peanut donuts in Canada, so during the trip from Canada to the US I stopped over at the shop and bought basically a dozen peanut donuts.
The donuts were tasty. If they were just a little bit moister they would have been perfect. The peanut Donuts are not the circle ones, they are long johns.
They ones with frosting are over-​filled. You’re basically eating a cup of frosting with some donut around it. Bring a spoon with you because you’ll have to scoop out at least half of it, or bring some strawberries and you can eat them with the rest of the icing.
I also had the almond pastry. The almond paste was super strong and the icing was super extra sweet.
This is the place to go to if you want your sugar fix.
Overall I enjoyed the donuts and I will return.
They would have got 5 stars if the donut was just a bit moister.

I have loved Paula’s ever since a co-​worker from my old work place brought Paula’s donuts to the office (YES– he flew from Buffalo to Toronto with 2 dozen donuts)
We drive from Toronto to get donuts from Paula’s, enough said.

I don’t usually do donuts, I just really don’t care for them, but no thanks to a high school friend who got a job decorating donuts in another city, the regular pop-​up of donuts in my Facebook feed made me unable to resist the call of Paula’s donuts for National Donut Day.
It was a terrible idea to go there on that particular day. The line was out the door, and if you’ve been to Paula’s on Sheridan, you know they already have a winding line set up already inside.
The wait was pretty much worth it. The hubs and I had incredibly thin pickin’s because they nearly sold out of EVERYTHING, but there was a cinnamon puff donut and plenty of red velvet donuts (I love red velvet anything), so we got those. Plus I checked in on Unilocal and received an offer!
We took the donuts home and they rocked. They were soft and warm, but really good. We saved 1 red velvet donut for the next day and split it and it was even better! The donuts are rich and cake-​like. Unlike Krispy Kremes where you can eat 6 and get sick before you get full, Paula’s donuts are satisfying, filling, and very tasty. Definitely a win.
With that in mind, we had a party to go to that weekend and figured we’d be spending the night, so we went back to Paula’s that Saturday and used the Unilocal offer of ‘buy a dozen donuts and get 2 free!’ So we got a box of honey dipped, chocolate honey dipped, red velvet and cherry donuts for the sleepover party and then picked out a sprinkled donut and peanut and jelly donut for ourselves.
We were the clearly sung heroes for showing up with Paula’s donuts for the following morning, and everything was delicious!
The fact that Paula’s can take something that I don’t like and make them a total treat, that deserves some respect!
