The best headshot/​photo session I have ever had! I have been in the industry for 7 years and have gone through several headshot photographers, and Cathryn is the best I have come across! She is extremely knowledgable about the industry and knows the exact types of looks you need and the types of looks casting directors are looking for; she takes the time to talk to you and understand your casting; she is generous with the amount of looks you get and she really works with the clothing you bring in; she makes you feel incredibly comfortable so that it doesn’t feel like a photo session, but rather like you’re hanging out with a friend who happens to be taking photos of you. Cathryn talks you through the photos for each different look, giving you specific things to think about so that you can create a character for each shot.
Her makeup artist, Barbie, is also amazing! She took the time to observe my features in order to give me the best make up look, and she talks to you about the types of look (s) you want. She gave me an amazing natural look and really highlighted my eyes, which I think is really important for headshots. I highly recommend having her do your makeup!

My son has been a busy working actor for years, and has had head shots taken at least 1x per year forever. This month, while visiting LA for the Young Artists Awards, we were thrilled that Cathryn was able to squeeze us in for a shoot. It was a wonderful experience for both my son and I. Want to also mention that Cathryn’s make up/​hair partner, Barbie, was great with my son — who isn’t always overjoyed to be coiffed. He looked great. The session was professional, relaxed, productive and FUN! The images are beautiful. The only issue is that we love them ALL — almost impossible to pick favorites. I’m amazed and delighted at how Cathryn was able to capture my son’s true self and relaxed, happy, natural expressions. Looking forward to visiting her again with my young actress daughter again soon. Would highly recommend!

My 11 year old daughter just got an agent and they recommended she get new quality headshots. I looked around and found Cathryn online and felt like she would be a good choice. I told the agents who I was thinking about and they were immediately impressed with the choice. And wow, were they ever right. Cathryn is just awesome. She is so chill, so giving as a photographer, so caring about her clients. I know my daughter must have been nervous but Cathryn really makes the photo shoot experience fun and exciting and relaxed and just magical in every way. As a result, she is able to pull truly amazing expressions from her clients and her photos just breathe life. And she knows the industry and knows what works. Everyone is so impressed with the shots. And yes, they look JUST like my daughter — they capture all the little wonderful expressions she has. I could NOT be happier with my entire experience. And her prices, amazingly enough, are truly reasonable. I just can’t thank her enough for giving my daughter photos that she can be so confident about when she is submitting or walking into a casting session. My 7 year old daughter attained her first set of headshots with Cathryn Farnsworth last year. They were so good and caught the attention of casting directors that brought her in to many auditions, including two pilots! In fact, I would repeatedly hear how eye-​catching, cute, striking her headshots were that I had to bring her back in to update her shots this year! I also have to share that on this round, Hayden was not feeling too well, later to find out she had an ear infection. They were patient and tried so hard to make her feel better from playing her favorite song & offering snacks to letting her take pictures with her dog, all to help her feel better. Cathryn and Dallas worked her back in the following week for retakes to make sure we got the shots her agents & manager would be happy with. This was such a gracious gesture that many other busy Los Angeles based photographers would never do. Not only have we made a connection with industry professionals, we have made two great friends who sincerely want the best for my daughter. I HIGHLY recommend Cathryn Farnsworth for an actor or child actor that want their headshots to get them in the door of the casting office!

We have used Cathryn and Dallas a couple times and I can’t imagine a better experience. My daughter has had head shots done many times but Cathryn’s photos are always fantastic. EVERYTIME we hand them out for auditions we get told how great they are. If you need head shots for acting, Carthryn is the best.

Cathryn has been photographing my daughter since she was probably 6. She is now a 16 year old model and actress and Cathryn is one of very few people I trust to take her picture. Cathryn not only excels in headshots but is amazing at editorial concept work as well. I have a lot of her photos on my daughters Facebook fan page LUCY RUST if you want to see how diverse Cathryn’s work is. She can make Lucy look like an ethereal angel or a grown up supermodel. All within the same session. And yah, Dallas rocks. You know how you get photos and u say, «darn, I wish they would have made my hair look thicker, or moved my bangs over!» Etc. well, that doesn’t happen here. It can be one strand of hair or the need for just one extra dot of gloss in the middle of your lip, Dallas is on it. And believe me there are no sweeter people out there. Love both of them!

Let me start by saying I have shot with Cathryn two times. The first was in 2013. She came as a recommendation from a fellow actress. I compared head shots of about 5 – 6 different recommended photographers and Cathryn’s photos struck me, she was a master at capturing the eyes, which is the most important part of an actors head shot. The entire experience was awesome. She shoots from her home studio which made me comfortable. She asked what kind of music I liked, and all talk was about me and what kind of work I have been doing and what I am looking for. She was involved in choosing the outfits for the shoot and really took the time to make sure she knew what kind of looks I needed. Dallas (makeup artist) then took me to makeup and never left my side the whole shoot, making sure each hair was in place and also switching hair and makeup for each look. The result? The most amazing headshot session I had ever had and way too many amazing pictures to choose from! (Great problem to have!). So, it was no surprise when I changed my hair color in 2015, I needed to make a trip back and I did! Take all the awesomeness of the first shoot and some new locations to shoot in and once again I was super pleased. I always feel cared for, important, and confident in Cathryn’s hands. I have recommended her to every actor I know who asks!

Love love love them!!! Dallas was fantastic with make up, my daughter had a fabulous time at the shoot and Cathryn did a fantastic job with headahots!

My kids have been in the industry for over decade. As such, we’ve had the opportunity to shoot with quite a handful of photographers. I’ve got to say that hands down, Cathryn is by far THE BEST. She captured a myriad of looks for my daughter and I have no doubt that her new headshots will certainly bring in many more auditions.
And Dallas… her makeup and hair skills are top notch. Wow. I’m so jealous of her skills.

WOW! Cathryn and her makeup artist and assistant, Dallas, are amazing. They made our photo shoot fun, relaxing and most importantly, they were extremely professional. My wife and I both got headshots done today. We had to bring our 5 ½-​month-​old baby girl with us, and they welcomed her with open arms. Cathryn even took a few photos of our Abigail. I don’t know of any photographers that would do that. As long as we are in the entertainment business, Cathryn and Dallas are out go-​to team.

I have now been to Cathryn twice for headshots and this is the second time that I have been absolutely in love with the images! Cathryn and Dallas (makeup) make the atmosphere very laid back so you look like the absolute best «you» on camera. I’d highly recommend them to ANY of my actor friends :)

Wow, Cathryn and Dallas are amazing! I took my 7 year old twins and my almost 5 year old son to get headshots and I was blown away with the results, we have so many amazing photos to choose from! It was the first time getting headshots for my 5 year old, and it’s hard for us to get a «real» smile from him, but Dallas and Cathryn were making him laugh and acting silly which resulted in great photos of him. I also love that Dallas gave my boys a different look with their hairstyle! My twins usually get burnt out towards the end of a headshot session, but Cathryn and Dallas made it so fun for them, that they did great for the whole session. It was also nice to get the link to the photos after a few days! We will definitely be returning to them next year for headshots!

If I could double my rating to 10 stars, I would. I equate getting Headshots done with going to the dentist… Deplorable. Cathryn, on the other hand, loves going to the dentist, which although incomprehensible to me, may explain why she is such an excellent photographer.
I will give myself some credit, as I went shopping and hit the dry cleaners the day before our shoot. Still, you never know what kind of chemistry you’ll have with the person behind the camera.
I arrived early, and was immediately greeted by Dallas, the amazing hair and make-​up goddess. We were cracking each other up with different accents and stories. And, frankly, she made me look way better than I do rolling out of bed.
Once Cathryn got there, the jokes and accents continued. There is no substitute for a good sense of humor, especially when getting mug shots. My smiles are authentic, and I had a great time. I shudder to think how many headshot shoots I’ve endured. This one was far and away the best.
She promised 4 looks, I got 8. And, she gave me a disc with over 500 shots on it. Not to mention a folder of her favorites, which is awesome. All of the shots I’m using came from that folder.

came in here and had the funnest afternoon with 3 gorgeous ladies all fussing about ME and making me feel awesome and taken care of. we laughed the entire shoot and it was all top-​notch professional. i had my own dressing room, refrigerator stocked with refreshments and tv.
the tie i had picked out was a color palette abortion with my outfit, and they had a nice selection for me to replace it from. so i’m not the fashionisto i thought i was, as it were.
all in all, the best money i have spent on headshots since coming to LA in 2003. i really just don’t get the ridonkulous pricing of Theo & Juliet. it’s a freaking headshot for god’s sake. the only factors involved are: lighting, angle, makeup. half the time, when you get your headshots done you don’t even move locations, you just stay close to the studio. so i really couldn’t justify theo & juliet prices based on the quality of the work on their website.
what drew me to Cathryn Farnsworth Photography was that her display gallery shots had ample lighting from the back but also really nice lighting on the front of the face that makes the photo «pop». i actually sat down with my regular photographer (having a baby and out of commission) and we both chose Cathryn’s pictures over 7 other photographers suggested to me based on the frontal and rear lighting.
minimal makeup. i’m a grown ass man and have no problem looking my age. just a little gel, tlc, and boom shooting the best shots i’ve ever taken. thanks for making me not look like jon gosselin! muah! xo
