By far the best sub shop in Toledo! The quality is spot on and the service is delightful. Whether you’re looking for an original, cold sub or a warm panini, you won’t be disappointed!

I have to say that I loved the Original Sub Shop & Deli! I work in Ann Arbor, so I don’t get to eat here often. I love the food here. I’m a big meatball sub fan and this sub holds up and is better than any generic chain you could go to. The soup was amazing, too. Highly recommended! I can’t wait to try the rest.

The sub(The Original) foot long is still a very good product, and seems, for the most part, unchanged. If the bun has changed, it’s very similar to the previous bun; that is to say, it’s very good. I noticed many cool items on the menu(and on the Facebook page) that I don’t remember seeing during the«David Era.» I can’t wait to try some of the soups. The service is still about the same; the new owner and new staff seem competent and friendly. But I must say this: I couldn’t help but notice the 60 percent markup on The Original(was 5 bucks, now 8 bucks). Now, I’m not feeling particularly cheated, but a 60% price increase is strikingly noticeable.(Overall, however, the new prices are pretty much in line with other sub shops in the area. And, BTW, I understand that the prices were flat for a long time, I understand the concept of inflation, etc, etc). Although The Original Sub Shop & Deli isn’t awesome deal that it was, in the end, I’ve been coming here for about 25 years, and I have no plans to stop. 4 stars!

The OG sub shop has a new owner, even better bread, fantastic new Paninis and all of the classic family recipes from the previous owners! Yes even the chili and Habenero hot sauce are the same. If you live or work downtown you need to check this place out. Best subs in the city.

the veggie reuben brightens my life. the veggies are lightly marinated. they are super fresh so their natural taste and texture comes through. lest you think this veggie sandwich is bland and reserved for health nuts NAY, this sandwich is topped with sauerkraut, cheese, and thousand island on warm pumpernickel bread, giving it a lil taste of fat + tartness so it’s tasty as hell. it’s doing all the right things.

The sundried tomato and artichoke panini has earned itself a place on my favorite sandwiches ever list. The owner Maureen is fantastic and works hard at making a business that serves the community as well as providing delicious food. Make sure to try the soups as well as the sandwiches.

fantastic! It is a rare thing when an individual can seamlessly take over a long-time family business and make a good-go of it right off the start. Maureen B. commonly known as ‘sub-Maureen’ has done just that. I visited the shop yesterday and was blown away by the the new menu items and the great personality of the staff. I highly recommend this place and I am grateful that they are maintaining weekend hours.

Seriously delicious. Mingya. Ate here en route to Detroit from Cleveland. Every once in a while I walk into an establishment and just get the impression that I am in exactly the right place. If I had to choose 2 people based on radical assumption, and«book by its cover» type stuff alone, I would easily choose the man and woman behind the counter here. Squad rolled deep with 7 members who enjoyed an array of different sub sandwiches and delightful homemade sides. Tuna, Italian, and the meatball subs were specifics that I remember being ordered. Personally, I had an 8 inch Italian. The roll was perfect. Not to hard, not too soft, just nice — softly and intentionally microwaved to achieve an extremely subtle warmth and softness. Good bread to content-of-sandwich ratio too. The cold cuts were not abundant which was alarming at first but upon first bite I lost any and all negative emotions, instead being whisked away to the days of 4 weeks ago when I last enjoyed an afternoon lunch at my gramma and grampas house. The nonchalant air of the eatery itself is what really seals the deal. Delicious, Traditional subs are simply what goes on here. Mom and Pop to its core, this place is comfortable and reminiscent of everything lovely in this life. Squad.

So we finally tried this place. A total of four stars just because the owners were so sweet and cool. Don’t be intimidated by the décor or the ambiance when you walk in, the place is comfy and has a historical feel to it. I’d recommend you try this place and form your own opinion. The bread was fresh, had my sub warmed up. The macaroni salad was not that bad. Like I said, everyone has a certain taste in food. If I’m ever downtown, I would swing by here for a quick lunch. Once again, stop by here and give them a try. They have regulars here so it says a lot about the place.

Great little mom and pop sub shop near downtown. The building Original Sub is located in is a classic! It looks like a remnant of 19th century Toledo. As someone else said, the bread here is made fresh, or it’s brought in from some place local. Portions could be a little bigger, but for the price — around five bucks — you really can’t beat it. When I visited, I went ahead and had the Italian. It was delicious! I could have probably eaten two of them! It’s a little out of the way for most people, but Original Sub Shop is definitely worth a stop if you’re in the downtown area.

I used to go here, but quit when the Postal Service made it hard for me to go to the restaurant for my lunch. The man and wife were always friendly. They had their children with them, but the kids were quiet. They have grown up now, and both are artists. The owners have an interest in art as well as cooking. On Saturday evenings at 6:00PM they hold poetry readings in the restaurant. The son(Josh David) did a video for our local PBS(WGTE) comparing the two Toledos.

This place makes the best sub sandwiches in Toledo! You can choose from a number of combo subs or build your own. I’m in love with the turkey and salami sub. When you’re downtown or in the Southend take the short trip over to Broadway, you won’t be disappointed. By the way, they have a lot of veggie options, great coffee from Flying Rhino(local roaster), and wifi.

I stopped in about a week ago to listen to listen to a speaker. This husband and wife owned deli has a wonderful«neighborhood business» feel. The bread is all baked locally and delivered often(sans preservatives) from Brieschke’s Bakery in Sylvania. I took the advice of the owner to have my sub«warmed up» and glad I did. I had to try the«Original Sub»(salami, ham, bologna) which didn’t disappoint but was very tempted by the panini special. I have also heard good things about the hummos and tabouleh sandwich. I was also happy to be able to have a Sprecher root beer from Milwaukee. If you haven’t had Sprecher sodas or beers I highly recommend them and the tour is a «must do» if you’re traveling to Milwaukee. Free WiFi is also a plus.
