Kaizen Martial Arts Studio provides traditional Karate, taught utilizing non-traditional methods. Unlike other Martial Arts styles, we openly invite students to «Question our answers, rather than just answer our questions», resulting in classes that are interesting for all ages.
Our Instructors are First Aid and CPR certified and are background and drug checked. That’s who we’d like to leave our children with. You can be confident that we have your best interest in mind.
History
Established in 2003.
Kaizen Martial Arts was established to fill the need of having a very positive and upbeat environment for learning Martial Arts.
As we go about the day, we are all a product of our thinking. Think positive thoughts or negative thoughts about a situation, either way, you’ll be proven correct.
At Kaizen Martial Arts Schools (Dojo), our students recite a School Promise (Dojo Kun) at the beginning and ending of each class. This promise provides a solid basis for one’s life both inside and outside the Dojo. The Kaizen Martial Arts promise is:
Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become your character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
Meet the Business Owner
Daryl W.
Business Owner
Daryl began his Martial Arts career in 1993. Originally, for a 3 month period, you know «Just to get the boys started.» it wasn’t long before his sons and him were training on a routine basis.
Daryl started studying all the books and videos he could find on the subject of Martial Arts and teaching. By 1996 he was teaching some classes on a regular basis.
Earning his First Degree Black Belt in 1999, Daryl started teaching as the primary instructor at a local school in the spring of 2000. By 2003, the facility in Tigard was established and has been operating at that location ever since.
Daryl’s favorite saying is «The best way to learn is to teach — the best way to teach is to learn.» He has lived by these words throughout his career.
