Over the top service. Had a check engine light on during my nationwide road trip and brought it to these guys. A totally free diagnosis was great. But, it was the explanation from the manager, Jim, that gives the 5 stars. He took 10 minutes to fully explain the issue which wasn’t an extreme issue. He made it clear that my car would be just fine to proceed until I’m settled enough to take care of the issue. Most places try to squeeze money out of you; not these guys. Give them a go in Tigard!

Came to AAMCO with suspected transmission problems in our camper van. AAMCO did a quick diagnosis and determined it was actually a water pump problem. The manager and staff were friendly, efficient and had us back on the road the same day!

They literally destroyed my car. I was having work done and they «accidentally» knocked a rock into my engine and destroyed a cylinder. I had to leave it there since I was moving 350 miles away. Had no car for 3 weeks in a new city, then had to drive back there to pick it up. No reimbursement for all of that, still paying on $ 1200 worth of repairs on a car that isn’t driveable. They sent me away with the cylinder still warped, and the air conditioning not working. I took it to the AAMCO in Spokane with the warranty they gave me, and they won’t fix it. I now have a car that doesn’t work, and am $ 1200 in debt. Save yourself and your car and go somewhere else. If you do go, make sure you have a good lawyer so that you can get them to honor their warranty.

Everyone that helped me get a quote the day I came in was so helpful. I had a lot of questions and got all of them answered in a very polite manner. I came in to get a quote on replacing my transmission and asked specifically to get a print out of prices for everything and they did it! The wait time on a Tuesday wasn’t very long at all either. I wish I could remember the gentleman’s name that helped me but he has glasses and worked the front counter!
I highly recommend going to this place. I checked here for the reviews first before driving across town to get just a quote, and it was worth it!
Everyone rocks there!

We went in to have the trans fluid level checked because we thought we might have had some slipping. We didn’t have any leaks from any part of the car prior to going in. They did not find any problem with the trans but said there was a power steering leak. ??? Didn’t have one till they touched the car. We now have a definite leak which leaves a slick on the ground. Shoddy work, poor customer service. They didn’t provide us with any paperwork showing what they found on inspection. Won’t go back and won’t refer anyone to them.

Again, I went there and had another great experience. These guys are great about creating and great repor with their clientele. I don’t just feel that they care, I know that they do.

I have been very happy with the service provided by these guys. They did a total transmission rebuild for me about a year ago, and while it was expensive (as transmission rebuilds tend to be), they were efficient, helpful, professional, and did a great job.
I always feel like they remember me when I come in to have my oil changed or whatever other service I need. Every time they are polite and friendly and do a great job.

It all starts with Jim at the desk. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. They rebuilt my Chevy Suburban transmission.

Had to have my amateur battery installation corrected. Jim took me in right away, and Victor fixed our mess-​ups for NO CHARGE!
They’re a great, trustworthy mechanic shop — I’ll definitely be back!

I usually give high ratings even if I think things could have been handled better. I am giving a rating based on the pro’s and con’s of the service I received. The guys at the shop are really nice and do know what they are talking about. I like to hear some of the stuff these shop guys have to say even though I know a good amount of mechanical info. I am slightly disabled so I don’t do the work myself anymore. So here is the list.
Pros:Car idles a lot better now that I had a tuneup.
They put a part on my car which they said would cost 28 dollars and I told them I would do it but found out they did it. They accidentally put it on for free but it only takes 2 mins to do the job. I dont know why they would charge 28 dollars for a 2 min job. I think the front desk needs to communicate better with the mechanics or have a better system.
They use your parts. I would advise you get your parts unless you want to get ripped off on parts. They charge 95 per shop hour if they get your parts or 100 if you have your own parts.
Cons: Got car back with below empty on gas when I gave it to them with ¼ tank.
I told them a dozen times I needed a coolant flush and when I got the bill back, it says coolant drain and fill. I even called up some other shops including another Aamco and they told me they don’t really just drain it and fill it but give it a full flush. I was advised today that they did a drain and fill for the price of the full flush. I could have drained and filled it myself for about 15. They charged 79. Furthermore, the coolant is leaking a little but may be from overflow res. They also said something about the color of the coolant (they said they use green) and in the reservoir, the color is red from the portion that I had to fill a bit because it was low. My car only takes red coolant. Mysterious hmm…
It took 1.8 hours to do the service on my car and they had it for a total of 28 shop hours (the time the shop was opened).
They told me I needed new rear and front shocks. I had just put on my rear shocks (bought them brand new) which included the shock and springs.
Conclusion:
Would I go back or refer them to a friend? NO. They are out to get you for every penny they can. When you call the Aamco shops, they want you to bring your car in for a free inspection so they can tell you whats wrong with your car. They make it sound worse than what it is. I do need some work done on my car and they wanted to charge me 1200 for the parts alone when I found them on Amazon for 300 dollars. That’s a huge markup.
They don’t adhere to business hours as they have other personal obligations to attend to. I believe that if you are going to run a business, that should come first or they should modify business hours. They have too much business and not enough help. While I was there, the manager said they send their techs home at 5 and they are supposedly open until 6pm. The guy was on the phone with someone and he told them that they would all be out of the shop at 5:30.

Amazing!!! I wish they were a more full service mechanic then just a few services. 2000 Honda Odyssey 117k, tranny slipping. If you know Honda, you know this was bound to happen.
Jim was super helpful and knowledgable. From the very first call talking about AAMCO’s warranty, which is 10 year, unlimited milage. He was able to give me a price range. I felt really comfortable after that.
He did not try to nickel and dime me either. «Oh well we found this other thing that we can fix»
Dealer wanted $ 5k to replace with a 1 year warranty.

Jim has been kind and honest through not one but two car crisis. They are always upfront and quick about getting things done and I have been happy to refer several friends to them who have had equally awesome experiences. They are truly one of a kind when it comes to quality. I highly recommend them!

I needed a small part put into my Jeep Wrangler. It was a little too technical and something I couldn’t figure out on my own.
I bought the part from Amazon, took it to Aamco and they put it in quickly, with no problems, no long wait or major expense. As well, the mechanic who worked on my Jeep, owns one himself. Gave me even more confidence.

I have taken both of my cars to this location a total of 6 times, and am sorry to say that I will no longer do so. We have had good experiences with them until the last problem with our car, which ended up in three separate visits over 7 months. The first visit it was diagnosed that we had a blown radiator, which we had fixed. A couple months later we had the same problems with the car, brought it back in and it was determined that the radiator was faulty and was replaced under warranty (no additional cost to us). Three months later, same problem. Took it back in, and this time it was determined that we need to replace the temp sensor which is causing the radiator to blow. They let us know usually the water hose goes first, for some reason ours held on while the radiator suffered, but I would have liked it if the root of the problem was looked into more the second time we had to bring our car in (we were without it for days, and callbacks are NOT a priority for them). At this point they also suggested that we replace the serpentine belt and tensioner, which we knew needed replacing soon. We were told that they would throw in the repairs for those items with no additional labor charge since they would have everything taken apart anyway. The difference between the charges for just the sensor and the sensor plus serpentine and tensioner was about 90.00, but when I looked online to see how much those parts cost on average they were only 50 – 60.00; maybe they are paying a lot more for their parts than I would? Due to the radiator being under warranty, we had agreed that they could go ahead on repairs that would be no cost to us, but DID NOT authorize any additional work to be done. This morning, we decided that we did not want to pay for the repairs since they are more than the difference in fair to good value according to KBB and called to let them know, and now have to wait for them to remove the sensor that they put in without our authorization.
We have had good experiences before, and they have been great on payment plans for very expensive repairs. My causes for not returning are the inflated «parts only» quote for the serpentine and tensioner, waiting time for callbacks and updates, and the fact that they went ahead and did work on our vehicle without our authorization. The misdiagnosis of the temperature sensor I’m sure was an honest overlook, it happens. I have noticed that Kurt, who we previously dealt with when we started going to them has not been there our past few visits, and I wonder if they are under new management.

I called around for a lot of quotes on my clutch replacement. These guys had the best deal by far. They had my car done the next day and provided a lifetime warranty.
Great service.

Groupon paved the way for me to take all of my vehicles to his establishment. Really good work for a reasonable cost. They even worked me in after hours to accomodate my schedule. They take responsibility when wrong and frown on padding the repair cost.
