This place appears to be open for lunch only on certain days, but well worth the wait. One of the best sushi preps I have yet to encounter. The view of the harbor is also excellent.

Very disappointed in this restaurant! When the four of us arrived at 6pm tonight there was only one other party in the restaurant and we still got horrible service and as it got busier it just got worse. The waitress forgot two items we ordered, never apologized because she was just clueless, not mean just didn’t have the concentration level to be a waitress. Our drinks came about 20 minutes after we ordered them, the sushi itself was just ok nothing great, and we had to get our waitresses attention three times by shouting across the room, once for water, once to order more sake, and once to order tamago which by the way came out warm with rice that was too vinegary, yuck! Unfortunately I don’t recommend this restaurant and won’t be back. The only thing that salvaged the night was the company of my friends.

I went here for the first time… Food was ok. Service was very mediocre at best. I will not be rushing back anytime soon– have had better sushi at Whole Foods in Mill Valley!

Really fresh sushi, the food awesome. The service and atmosphere is really nice. Try the nigiri tasting under«chef’s choice». Nice selection of sushi rolls too. The restaurant has nice water views.

I have been coming here since it opened as Ginza, but just getting around to writing a review. I have always had a great experience here — both in terms of service and food quality. The service is attentive, fast and friendly. The fish is fresh and tasty and the preparations well-executed and artful. I highly recommend it.

Friendly staff, fresh fish and a nice array of choices. Omakase at the bar definitely the best way to enjoy it.

Good sushi, good seats at bar and some overlooking water. Prompt, professional service. The sushi chefs are attentive and make great sashimi and sushi. It’s our go to when we’re in Tiburon. Nice dinner and movie combo.

Honestly the restaurant and view here were truly stunning. The restaurant was beautiful and the view overlooking sailboats and the bay was superb. That’s about it. Everything else wasn’t that impressive. Service: We were greeted by a cranky woman on the phone. She seated us at our table then left quickly without giving us our menu’s. We tried to get her attention but couldn’t really. After a while she came back and asked us what we wanted. Once we told her she didn’t give us menu’s she got them but yet again took forever to come back. On the flip side, the food came pretty quickly. Food: honestly, not that great. Everything was ok but I was pretty disappointed. Sushi was fresh but way overpriced for what it was. Not sushi ran prices, but still over the top. At least sushi ran is pretty tasty. I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap(in tiburon) but I thought that I would get more spark for the money we paid. The tempura was pretty spot on and crispy however. In the end, the total was around 35 bucks and we scarcely ordered anything as we weren’t hungry, I don’t think we even ordered drinks. Overall, ok food but way overpriced and the staff needs some help. Not one of them were Japanese, and it would be fine if they produced good sushi. However, it wasn’t impressive, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again until they get their act together.

The only good thing about this place is the view. Food is the worst. They couldn’t even make a good sashimi. The staff was extremely rude. The moment my friend and I sat down, the waitress said what do you want in a harsh tone. She didn’t even give us the menu yet! We ask for some time to choose and she came back 20 – 30 minutes and took our order. The food ended up being pretty bad. Never again will I come here.

Great little sushi place on the water. Good food, sweet service. Sake selection is ok but not outstanding. Very kid friendly — and they carry a Japanese soda the kids love. Service is really great and menu items are a good selection. Plenty of vegetarian options!

Was in Tiburon looking for a place for a late night dinner, this place was open and delivered. Sushi was actually amazing. We went just for raw fish — there was a nice selection of fish that you don’t always find at all sushi restaurants. The view was also great so 1 star added for that. Looks like this place would be great during the day sitting on the deck.

Tanoshi is a secluded sushi outpost, but I say this as a person who thinks Tiburon is a secluded outpost. Despite the four star build up on Unilocal,Tanoshi is just average.(More stars for the view, certainly.) It’s friendly sure, but not a place to head to if you have a hankering for a great sushi experience. On the plus side, the restaurant looks out over boat slips and a water view and they have nutty green tea, something I always admire in a good sushi spot. The list for the downside is longer, unfortunately. The restaurant has little personality outside of the view: it boasts a television on in the corner of a sterile-looking dining room with granite and wood tables, whiteboard offerings and a photo menu. Prices are towards the high end: $ 17 rolls and $ 7 and up for two piece nigiri. Offerings are fresh but average.(We say this after trying a few items: their ramen, nigiri, miso soup, maki and a hot entrée. Prices were already steep for our spidey sense, so we did kept our ordering towards the basic end of the menu.) If you are a captive in beautiful and secluded Tiburon, and craving sushi/Japanese sure. Otherwise, perhaps swim towards a different shore.

It is a beautiful restaurant with a killer view. We had the Phoenix roll — which was inventive and yummy. The Philly roll was good — the basic. My only complaint was the Unagi. I like it to be warm on the bed of rice instead it was ice cold. Other then that though this place is a solid choice if you want good sushi.

Finally got the time to write this review… Man this place is something… We came here according to the 4 stars… I don’t know how or who gave them those stars but they need to take a few back… Tha services was nice but the food was awful… I was surprised how bad da food was for a «4 star» place and I end up paying 80 bucks for some sad sushi:(there was no favor … Godzilla would of been mad at da roll named after him… Da sushi had no favor… And I had to ask for wasabi … I’m still mad at this place til this day!

Couldn’t be more disappointed. As teenagers, we were served our food MUCH later than any of the other adult couples that arrived AFTER us. The sushi was mediocre and VERY overpriced. I honestly could have gone to woodlands market down the street and gotten a much better, well priced sushi roll. We didn’t even get served ginger + wasabi with our sushi, while the other parties around us did. Will not ever go back.

Went to Tiburon over the weekend and didn’t think they would have a Sushi Place there but found this place on Main street and what a find it was the fish was awesome and the teriyaki chicken was very good. I was really impressed with the sashimi combo I believe it was called. Prices are on the high side but their rent probably is also.

With the plethora of good sushi in the bay area Tanoshi fell short of expectations. Food quality, especially the fish quality was just sub-par to poor. Wait-staff was pleasant and helpful. Prices are high… again when comparing to quality.

Suuuuuuuper tasty! Amazing fish quality, great presentation, perfect location. Went here with my husband and a friend one evening recently and had sake, sashimi, and a few random rolls(can’t remember the names at this point though). I really do hope this place gets more business and continues to stay open! Marin really needs more quality sushi joints that DON’T cost an arm and a leg(yes, I’m looking at you, Sushi Ran).
