This place is adorable and the family who runs it is quite nice. The baby goats make life better in general.
The ladies at the front desk are so helpful and pleasant, the cottages with the kitchens are completely worth it. Free breakfast consist of things like muffins, bagels, juice and Fruits. I will continue to stay here. Love it.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Lazy J Christmas Eve and Christmas. The couple who owned the place were extremely friendly and our room was cozy and comfortable. Our room had a gas fireplace, king bed, comfortable chairs and a beautiful view. We will for sure come back to Lazy J ranch! Very close to Kings Canyon National Park.

My kids love this place and we come every year. Just outside the gates of Sequoia in the small town of Three Rivers.
The people are always very nice on the phone when making reservations. I have stayed here for 4 years straight and I love I it.

We were happily surprised at this place. Decent rate ($ 75) for a little cottage type room. They have a beautiful pool in the middle of the grounds and adorable goats in the back. The owners were kind and friendly. Clean and good smelling rooms — heat, air conditioning, and an awesome dvd and vhs library. It felt like going back in time in the best way. Very close to Sequoia National Park and the picturesque town of Three Rivers.

Not a bad place at all, the people who work there are nice as can be and very helpful. The area has a good location and the layout is very user friendly. The Kids loved the petting zoo and listening to the goats talk to you in the morning should bring a smile to your face. As others have said, your never going to confuse it with the Ritz Carlton and if you are looking for something upscale, probably not your best choice-​then again if you are looking for upscale and fancy schmancy you should simply avoid the area entirely and shame on you for being an elitist snob.
As for me… Had a great time with my family and a reasonable price. Thumbs up!

This is such a nice place to stay. VERY clean and friendly. Nice swimming pool and goats/​sheep that the owners let my daughter feed.
We even stayed on as it was so quiet and relaxing.
You can get DVD movies for the kids to watch and they have snacks in the morning. Highly recommend staying here.

Surprised with this welcoming place. If you want a simple but cozy place to stay in the Sequoia National Park. Cabins are decent and the outdoor is very relaxing.

I really liked the place. It surprised me. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The outdoor space was beautiful and relaxing. I loved the animals (sheep) and in addition is pet friendly. Recommend!

Von der Aufmachung und Optik her eine wirklich super Anlage, gepflegt und modern.
Die Unterbringung ist sauber und entspricht aktuellen Bedürfnissen. Ein großes Doppelbett, ein Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle und was man sonst noch benötigt.
Klimaanlage ist auch vorhanden, jedoch nicht immer von Nöten, je nachdem wie man es so empfindet.
Das Frühstück kann man sich getrost sparen, hier ist man als Europäer einfach verwöhnt. Allerdings gilt zu bedenken, in den USA ist meist nicht viel besseres zu finden.
Allgemein empfehlenswert, bei uns ging leider das wifi nicht.

Very nice well kept family cottage. The goats and sheep were awesome. Also an easy hike down to the river which was very nice with a 5 year old. In colder weather get cottage 17 the floor seems to be heated in the bathroom. The lady was very friendly.

A sweet little place to stay if you are going to Sequoia National Park. The property is very well maintained. You can pet the goats and sheeps that they have, right now they have triplets baby goats. Sweet!

No not book a cottage if you are looking for luxury, but definitely consider a stay if you are looking for a quaint, family-​oriented experience. The cottages are not modern by any stretch, but the are cute and the surrounding area is lovely… you are walking distance to the river and there is badminton and a family farm outside your front door.
During one of our stays, baby goats were born just outside our back window. An experience we will never forget.
A small selection of breakfast foods are included and the restaurants in the surrounding area are a close drive, as well as Sequoia National Park.
This place books up, so be sure to reserve well in advance, especially around peak travel times.

I came here in April and had a great time… great if you come here with kids they have animals swing set a pool and the river in the back I loved it the rooms are okay need a little upgrading but very clean

This place was great! My family loved the charm of the ranch-​style motel with goats and sheep and well off the road unlike the others we saw. There are only a handful of places to stay on your way to Sequoia and this by far looked the best out of all the ones we saw driving into the park. Nice size pool tucked in at the back of a huge grassy area. Park right in front of your adorable cottage or cabin. Nice friendly staff and a take away continental breakfast. Can’t beat the value and I would most definitely stay here again.

Great home town feeling. The room was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a fun pool, volleyball, badminton and goats out back kids can pet and feed. They have a free continental breakfast that has fresh fruits, oatmeal, juices, bagels and other things. If we go back that direction we will stay there for sure.

This place is like stepping back in time; what a gem!
If you want a corporate chain type accommodations, this is not your gig. But if you like being different and can appreciate the beauty of being simple; just book it.

I’d give this place 5 stars for the most tranquil environment that I ever fell into on accident, and for the amazing grounds with animals, beautiful vistas, and the meditative walk to the path to magical Rivers; however there was no bed skirt around the bed frame where I stayed (which isnt pretty), and when I entered the room, the air condition wasn’t on, so I was uncomfortable until I figured out how to turn it on. I was lost on my route to Kings Canyon, and ended up tired, and so I pulled into the Lazy J after reading Unilocal reviews and was grateful that Mike rented me the last available room for a discounted rate of $ 80. I couldn’t see at night how Heavenly the space was, and in the morning felt inspired to meditate while walking. I saw several birds, goats, lambs, bees, and even a Coyote on my walk back from 3 Rivers. I will be back… (like Arnold Schwarzenegger says)!

Based on Unilocal reviews i stayed at this Motel. Let me tell you, I would definitely recommend it. The Hotel was clean and delivered on its promises of a clean and quite environment. They even checked us in early. Sure, it is basic in its accommodations, but what more can you ask for than for an establishment to deliver what is promised? Oh, and Priceline had the best price.
The negatives? Well, you have to get your continental breakfast the night before, which frankly caused us to skip it since we got back after 9 p.m. And the walk to the river is questionable. They are up front that their «path» get’s washed away, but you literally have to make your way through a big field. It would be nice if there was a clear easy path. After walking about 10 to 20 minutes trying to find my way, I just gave up and went back. The next hotel had a walkway and ramp to the river. WiFi is sketchy.

This little gem is less than a dozen miles from Sequoia National Park. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and neat. The Lazy J is a motel style property that has small cabin style rooms arranged in a large horse shoe around a beautiful green lawn area with a pool and gazebo in the center. There are only 18 or so units so no big crowds.
The river runs right behind the motel, and the property is surrounded by a wooded area and mountains all around. A very beautiful and peaceful area to spend a night or a week. A great base to stay at if you want to spend some time in Sequoia. And the small town of Three Rivers has a number of decent places to eat as well.
One of the other reviewers mentioned something about seeing a spider in the room. Okay. This is a motel that is basically built in the woods adjoining a river. So let me assure you that the wildlife has nothing to do with the maintenance of this property or it’s cleanliness.
I have stayed at three other properties in this area over the last few years. And the Lazy J is, hands down, my favorite.
By the way, they have cabins for up to eight people with kitchen facilities. But you’ll have to reserve in advance. Enjoy!

I was driving from hwy 99 through Visalia looking for a motel before entering Sequoia NP. I expected to see motels in Visalia along route 198. Nothing for 35 miles until I got to the Lazy J in 3 Rivers. I was delighted. Super clean, very comfy, very quiet, large room, newly updated.
To my surprise I discovered there were several more motels along the route, and 2 gas stations, before entering the park.
But I was well pleased with the Lazy J.

I went to the Lazy J Ranch in January of 2009… overdue rating, right? Well, I didn’t get there until late at night and I was traveling alone. The lady at the desk gave me a reduced rate (maybe she felt bad for me?). She also offered me some food from the continental breakfast. Since my phone wasn’t working she let me call my family long distance so they’d know where I was.
The room was TINY. Which was fine for a solo traveler, especially since it was only a place to stay. Who wants to be inside in a National Park? Everything worked great though.
In the morning I walked around the property. You can walk down by the river and just bask in the views of the mountains. Very very cool.
