Squirrel was building a nest in our roof pulling out insulation, a mess. Dan took care of it with a one-​way door cage, etc. Great local business with prompt communication, professional service, hometown helpfulness. More than just animal
and insect control, he has the tools and skills of a handyman so was able to patch the roof to prevent future problems. Gave us some excellent, free ant problem advice on his way out, too. Will definitely call again as needed.

No show on appointment to provide service at 11 a.m. Called a few minutes after to check on whether he was still coming. No return call. I have never made a negative comment on Unilocal before, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.
Called at 3:15 later that day before I took effort to write this post in order to give Dan a chance to respond. Basically, he said he had a large job today and got behind or forgot, not sure which is the truth.

Dan is extremely knowledgable and upfront with pricing. He helped with a mouse problem at my condo and was very thorough. Highly recommended.

Dan at Bee Smart is probably the best home improvement professional that you could ask for. His approach to pest control is very well thought out for long term solutions, as opposed to mere seasonal fixes. He set up a plan for us to control our spider and mouse issues which I am confident will serve us for years to come.
Beyond that, Dan is a phenomenal handyman. He’s been able to help us with electrical repairs, decking issues and other random jobs around the house.
On top of all that, he’s just a very solid guy. Cannot recommend him highly enough.

Dan came out to take a look at a rodent problem I was having and he was just awesome. He was very knowledgeable and helpful I would definitely recommend him and if I ever have a problem again will give him a call

I called Dan to come out and take care of our pest problem (we have 2 small children crawling around and I wanted it taken care if ASAP) and not only did he respond within an hour, but he was out the next morning. He has been so responsive to my questions and has come out several times to follow up and provide solutions to new concerns that we have had. I highly recommend him. I am very happy with his service.

Dan has been so helpful with my mouse infestation. He immediately came in and investigated the source of the problem – the entries into the house. Since then, we have captured many mice. I feel extremely confident that a problem, that I let get out of control will soon be managed. Yipeeeee! Excellent service. Good humored, wise and fun to work with on a not so fun problem.

I first called Dan at Bee Smart to handle some hornets that had infested a rental house and were actually making a nest inside a hollow under the eaves. Dan was very informative, careful to make sure what type of bees they were, and handled the problem quickly and effectively. He also plugged up the opening where they were getting in.
He is knowledgeable, prompt, effective, and priced very reasonable.
Since then I have also had Dan handle a really bad cockroach problem at another rental property and he was able to take care of it no problem.
I like this company so much, I am making it my go to company for exterminator issues at all my rental properties.

Dan is a champion. We had a serious yellow jacket infestation and they were swarming in the house. Not only did he find what Orkin could not, after all of the eradication, he repaired the chimney so they could not get in again, and was entirely sympathetic and fun to talk to about this crazy situation! Who could ask for more!

Dan is a true professional in every sense on the word. I have called Bee Smart Pest Control to handle a Yellow Jacket problem for us the past two years and he is always quick and accommodating. He explains his plan of attack thoroughly, and is great about communicating every step of the way. I highly recommend Dan and Bee Smart!

Dan at Bee Smart Pest Control is the first and only call I make whenever I have a critter issue. If I could give him 6 stars I would. Dan has been extremely thorough and displayed exceptional integrity in all of our interactions. He has removed mice, yellow jackets, wasps, and all other manor of creepy crawly insects from in or around my home. My husband and I recommend him to everyone.
He has been to my home working on projects many times and is always prompt and courteous. I feel his pricing structure is sound and well worth it. Additionally– he always seems to come up with well thought our creative solutions to the problems that I am calling him about.
He is the only call I would recommend placing. You won’t be disappointed.

I have actually never used dans services, since I am actually a fellow pest control operator. I have gotten the opportunity to get to know him some, though, and can tell you that he is an honest, hardworking, and very knowledgeable operator. He is one of the few owners I’ve come across that truly cares about his customers, not just making money. I highly recommend Bee smart pest control, and for a competitor to say that, should have merit.

Knowledgeable, courteous, efficient, and professional. My wife and I had a big mouse problem with several different species, along with the need not to use poison. Dan knows his stuff, gives reasonable solutions with a discussion of options and needs. I felt respected throughout the process to figure this out, and the mice are not running amok anymore.

Dan’s great. It helps that he reminds me of a friend I already had. He double checked on his service to make sure he had gotten rid of the nests and spiders that had collected around our front porch. We also had netting installed to prevent birds from nesting in our eaves. He is great with kids too! My son’s a fan… on the first meeting for the estimate, he had stickers for him to occupy him while we surveyed what needed to get done around the outside. He even came out to take care of some conical nest (wasp?) that had begun to be built while he was supposed to be on VACATION. He’s not out to cut a profit, but to do the best job possible, and leave people content and with peace of mind. Thanks Dan! :-)

TL;DR Cliffs: I was going out of town and needed urgent help. Dan agreed to help me same day, then bailed last minute because he misread a message from me. He then commented on this post with more diatribe, which has since been updated to sound more courteous.
In short, I’d look for a company that won’t leave you high and dry because they’d rather «relax» while you deal with a nest of yellow jackets.

Please note that I haven’t felt the urge to post anything on Unilocal for many years; so, this is obviously VERY special.
I contacted the owner (Dan, I believe) early this morning and he agreed to come out and assess my yellowjacket situation. A few hours later, he informed me it’s «bad» and that, for $ 165 – 185 would come by tonight to take care of it. Since I am leaving town tomorrow, i thought this was awesome.
However, Dan had sent me a number of texts, which I promptly replied to, and here’s how the text conversation went (i would share screenshots if i could):
Him — «You have a bad yellowjacket problem… it’ll be between 165−185… let me know if that fits your budget»
Me — «If you can clean up and seal the yellowjackets, then i’ll pay $ 165. I’m assuming that’s fair»
He had mentioned I had a birds nest, but couldn’t take care of that until Sept, which isn’t a big deal.
Him — «I have to pick up a friend at DIA at 7:30… I could be there about 830. is that too late»
Me — «Sounds good. Just give me a few minutes notice if possible. Will the clean up be included? And there is some form of guarantee right? My friend at work just offered to do it for free, but iI’d rather it be professionally done»
Him — «I always guarantee my work but it sounds like your friend really wants to do this for free and do all the cleanup to (sic). Right now I’m turning on average away 5 – 7 customers a day so I do not have time to negotiate my price »
Me — «I wasn’t trying to negotiate… As I said I just want it taken care of professionally and we hadn’t clarified cleanup. Part of the reason I’m willing to pay you more than what I guessed it would be is because you went out of your way to come out today… Let me know if you’re still planning to do it. Thanks»
Him — «At this time I’ll just stay home with my family tonight and relax»

Note: This would be a non-​issue if a) I wasn’t going out of town tomorrow or b) he mentioned before the end of the day today he was fickle and wasn’t actually going to take care of it tonight.
I’ve never experienced anything like this (what professional bails last minute, over text nonetheless)??
Anyway, I’ve worked in customer service for the majority of my life, so, you’d think I’d be used to this sort of audacious behavior, yet, I find it absolutely unacceptable to that, knowing I had full intention of using him tonight so that I could vacation tomorrow, he bails with no reasoning outside of wanting to relax.
Now I won’t be going out of town and will get a different (perhaps more reliable) exterminator out this weekend.

I’m not a big fan of spiders. After finding them in the garage and basement I turned to Unilocal to find an exterminator. I left messages to 3 separate companies and Dan was the first to return my call. He went over his rate and explained the process and chemicals he used. On the day of his appointment, he called to inform me that he was running behind schedule and will be arriving 15 minutes late which I really appreciated because not many companies do that. When he arrived we did a walk through of the exterior of the house and went over potential risks for pest infestation and what he’s looking for (overall: no issues except for the spiders). He was very knowledgeable and thorough with the inspection. He found 2 old wasp nest and one active one, which was removed immediately. Due to the weather forecast, he was not able to do the exterior of the house so he did the interior and stated he’d come back to do the exterior when weather permits. He also went the extra mile and helped repair some things on the exterior of my house, which I wasnt expecting. 2 days later, he texted to let me know that he was at the house and going to spray the exterior. I highly recommend Dan. His customer service is superb and he’s very knowledgeable.

Dan is fabulous! I had some critters in one of my walls and a lone mouse in my house, and he was able to trap it, plug two openings through which the mouse had likely traveled, and I have not heard any mice (or any noises at all) in the wall since his first visit. Amazing. Dan is also personable, professional, humorous, and a gentleman. He’s honest, full of integrity, conscientious, and hard-​working — just the type of small business owner whom we all want to support. Oh, his prices are also reasonable, too, and he also pointed out two holes in my home (out of sight) I had not before noticed (oops), which I’m now getting fixed. I can’t recommend him highly enough, and I hope I don’t ever have to call him again, but if I do, I’m comforted knowing I’ll be in such good hands.

We called Bee Smart after finding a group of dozens of bugs on my 7-​month-​old daughters play mat. Ugly stuff.
He came out same day for a very thorough house inspection. He explained everything very clearly and thoughtfully. He seemed especially conscientious about doing a great job. We had him doing a surgical spray and fill in a couple of places where insects or rodents could enter.
His rates were very reasonable, his response was fast, and we’re confident he did a great job.

So we had an evil MOUSE problem!!! Being relatively new homeowners this was pretty much the worst possible thing to happen in our lives, well Dan over at Bee Smart really saved our home from those pesky creatures. We called several competitors, all gave over 3 weeks lead time before they would even show up, ummm there is no way we could feel safe from the evil mice for 3 weeks?! Are you kidding me?! And yes, we could’ve set traps, but I have no interest in that…
Well finally someone else recommended Dan, our new hero! His price, same as the competition, includes 3 visits! His mouse mind games really work! Mice are gone and he didn’t throw poison (this leads to rotting smelly bodies in your walls! SICK!)
***he also found an ant problem that we were totally unaware of… and got rid of them too! ANNNND he sprayed our shed for yellow jackets when he mentioned we can get them in the summer!
Were big fans, anyone with a pest problem… CALL HIM NOW!

We called Bee Smart on a weekend when we saw a mouse in the house. Turns out they were migrating in from the duplex next door, which was undergoing a major remodel. Dan, the owner, showed up promptly and did an outstanding job of finding the access points, putting down traps and keeping us informed on what to expect. He came back twice to check the traps and then to close up the entry points. Each time he called to tell us exactly when he would show up and kept to that schedule. Dan is a really nice guy and knows the pest control business thoroughly. He is now our go-​to guy for issues with bugs, mice and other critters. All in all, an excellent experience — highly recommended.
