After hearing good reviews about this restaurant my children took me there to have lunch for my birthday. It was on Sunday and we arrived at 11:00 to beat the crowd. We did, there were only about 10 people there the entire hour and 15 minutes we were there. All three of us ordered sweet tea and we ordered the beach bread appetizer. It is described on the menu as being genuine New Orleans French bread smothered with cheesy spread. When it came out I almost thought it was a joke. (Then afterwards I saw on the menu it was $ 3 and it made a little bit more sense but not much). It’s four pieces, about 2 inches long, reminded me of croutons and It was the equivalent of white bread with a slice of cheap cheese melted on top. Pitiful. We are still joking about that genuine New Orleans cheesy bread. Our tea was sour so we sent them back. We received three more glasses of sour tea. Sent those back and just got cokes. We all ordered the fried chicken because my husband had heard a woman say they had the best fried chicken she had ever eaten. Wow! That’s a big deal right? Before we ordered we asked about how long it would take, the waiter said 15 minutes which is exactly what I thought so we ordered. It took 45 minutes. It looked beautiful and that is the only good thing I can say. It was not cold but it wasn’t even warm, and it was dry and had zero flavor. Zero. How’s that even possible? The side salad… oh my gosh. I would have been embarrassed to serve that. Actually, I WOULD NOT have served that. The ranch dressing was good but we just dipped our crackers in it because none of us touched the side salad. Brown lettuce, one slice of a tomato and like the crumbs of croutons at the bottom of the bag. Collards so greasy you couldn’t eat them. I was surprised to say the least. Hopefully your experience will be as good as what we heard others say about this place because ours was terrible.

We stopped here for dinner on the way to a concert in Thomasville. The staff were very attentive, perhaps a little over the top. Several seemed new in their roles. The room was a bit noisy for our taste, mostly because of a large group in a corner having a loud alcohol-​fueled conversation. I suspect it is usually quieter. One of us had shrimp and grits, the other had jambalaya. The main dishes were very good. Better, from our point of view, was generous helpings of flavorful vegetables. Even better were melt-​in-​your-​mouth beignets for dessert. We will definitely go here again on future trips.

Best food on the planet! Whenever we are headed south, we go out of the way to be able to eat at SASS because the dining is delightful. Great shrimp étouffée, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and many other authentic Cajun dishes. Love this place!

This is a great new restaurant in downtown Thomasville. Their food, service and atmosphere have never disappointed me. The shrimp and grits are a favorite. I also have enjoyed the po boys. The owner is a very nice lady. They are even open all afternoon which is a big plus.

Here’s the deal: Sass is south Georgia for crappy food. The fried green tomatoes were paper thin and had zero tang. The Sha-​bam shrimp were drowning in sauce. They were great if you like the sauce. Josh, the waiter, was nice but completely full of shit. Go to Sweetgrass or Liam“s. They both have amazing food. Sweetgrass has draft craft beer. Also, avoid Jonah’s Fish and Grits. They were out of grits on our last visit. Grits is in the f’ing name.

What can I say! My husband and I were in Thomasville taking care of some business and couldn’t decide on lunch. I remembered SASS and thought we might give it a try.
First, I would like to apologize to our server. We were so excited about our food, I failed to get her name. She was excellent — pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu.
Now for the food! We started with fried green tomatoes which were served with two sauces. THE BEST! We shared cajun shrimp and grits and… you guessed it — THE BEST!
Now, you may think I get excited about just any food. Not so. For me, food is food. I don’t get really excited over it so this is really something.
To sum it up, great food, great service, great ambiance and, if all this is not enough, SASS is located in a beautiful historic train depot. Couldn’t get any better!

My family and I ate here the day before Thanksgiving. The food was flavorful, seasoned very well, and the portions are HUGE… huge! We tasted the menu and loved every dish and even had leftovers. Delicious!!!
While our appetizer and entrée portions were large, we were surprised by the small serving of bread pudding. Don’t get me wrong, it was great – don’t forget the ice cream – but we were expecting to try one dessert with several spoons but that didn’t happen. Oh well.

Uhhh omg can we go back for dinner? And again for lunch tomorrow? We went for the first time today and I have a new favorite restaurant for sure. We sat out on the terrace and there weren’t many folks outside but it was gorgeous weather. The service was excellent. I like that the chefs bring you your food. Ours were super friendly and one even stayed to hang out with our baby. The food was phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, best sweet tea I think I’ve ever had. It was verrrry reasonably priced and I absolutely cannot wait to go back. We had the pimento cheese, each got salads, and I got the fried green tomato poboy with dill mayo. My husband got spicy shrimp with grits and a butter sauce. He wishes he had gotten the ribs after seeing them brought to another table. Seriously doesn’t sound out of this world the way I described it but this place has some serious love cooked into their food and everyone seems happy to be there. Probably because they get to have these delicious noms every day.

I was wowed by the décor! Truly special. Everything else was underwhelming. The waitress moderately attentive/​helpful. The main course – fried grouper – greasy and brittle. And, over-​priced. A serious
letdown!

The most amazing restaurant! Service is amazing, but that food! Fried green tomato appetizers — could make a meal of those. The sweet tea is perfect! We had Po Boys this visit but could have easily been happy with anything they have. The grouper was light and flaky, the bread was fresh and not dense. Shrimp also was amazing. Get the remoulade on EVERYTHING! We finished with Bananas Foster. Get bananas foster, roll around naked in the bananas foster, but by all means, get it. Richard and his crew are fantastic. Come here. Now.

I was passing through town and saw on Unilocal this restaurant and I wanted to try it. The staff was extremely hospitable and friendly. Coming from a New Orleans native their food is legit!!! Bread pudding is amazing! Enjoy

The entrees were delicious; my son had fried chicken, the hubby had jambalaya and I had the shrimp étouffée. There’s no way this place is getting anything less than a 5 star rating, unless you’re a liar-​pants. Once you try the desserts you’ll want to give SASS an extra gold star! You won’t be able to decide which of the four to choose. I suggest getting them ALL! The bonus to our great dinner was watching a train choo-​choo past us. We’ll be back!

The atmosphere is adorable, the service attentive, and the food excellent. We started with the sha bam shrimp appetizer… good size and very tasty. For the entrée he had shrimp etoufee and collard greens and I had jambalaya and green beans/​mushrooms. The jambalaya was just average and I was surprised only had sausage and chicken (I guess I just assumed it would have shrimp too) but the greens beans and mushroom side was divine. His etoufee was ready good and large. For dessert I had bread pudding which was fine… but nowhere near as fabulous as the bananas foster poundcake. I don’t even really like bananas and I was blown away by this. It was also twice the size of the bread pudding. Would go again and often if I lived there.

Delicious food. Beautiful interior in the restaurant. Waiter was great. We will definitely return and try some of their other dishes. Located inside the historic Train Depot in beautiful Downtown Thomasville Georgia. A good mixture of Cajun and Southern Attitude. Our waiter (Richard) was great, very nice and treated us like we were his only customers. He was from Hawaii and knew so much about the food and gave us some great sauces to try.

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. Everything is fresh and cooked to perfection. Located in the historic train depot, the restaurant was beautiful and trendy.
We started the meal with fried green tomatoes and fried oysters which were definitely fresh. Next, the ribeye was thick and cut like butter. It was perfectly seasoned. Side dish was sautéed garlicky green beans and mushrooms. Our daughter had the Sha bam shrimp poboy which she said was fantastic and had a nice cream sauce on top.
Desert was Eleanor’s pound cake, a la bananas foster. Really good!
Our waiter, Roman, said the restaurant has only been opened 10 weeks and it is owned by three sisters. I wish them the best of luck but with food that good I don’t think they will need it!

I ate here for the first time on Wednesday evening and it was so good. I had the fried chicken, collard greens and Mountain Dew cobbler and they were excellent. The owners are delightful! I will eat here again soon.

Thomasville’s best restaurant – Period. We had the Angus rib eye and the blacken grilled grouper. I requested «light seasoning» on the grouper and the taste was much better and did not dominate the great fish. Perfectly cooked.
The rib eye was delicious. It was spiced just perfectly with a buttery taste. It wouldn’t cut with a fork (as advertised) but it was very very close to that. Tender, tender, tender as it gets.
The desserts are incredible with the pound cake with bananas and sauce being #1.
The waiter Richard (Aloha!) really makes this place. His personality, energy and service are incredible. If you are looking for the best professional service, Richard will deliver.
WE WILL RETURN for the shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich which has a lot of large shrimp… and Richard’s’ great service.
The food is delicious and worth the trip.
On Sep 5, 2015 we enjoyed another great dinner at SASS. We had the (lightly) fried shrimp Po’ Boy. It had the Sha Bam sauce on a great bun with lots of BIG Louisiana shrimp and vegetables. Choose a 6″ or 12″ with one side order for a very reasonable price. The 6″ is a lot to eat. And of course we had the Eleanor’s Pound Cake: A La Bananas Foster dessert. This dessert is irresistible and a must try. SASS is the deal in town for a full-​service restaurant.
In December 2015, we returned and had the Po’ Boy shrimp again. And yes it was just as good as the last time. The most important thing about this sandwich is that it is loaded with large shrimp. You won’t find this at other restaurants. The service was excellent as well. We always have a great time at SASS and brag about the service and food.

Absolutely delicious! Fried oysters were fresh and perfectly fried! Sha Bam shrimp was amazing and the sauce on them was stunning. Ribs were crazy tender and the homemade BBQ sauce was out of this world.
But the best for last was the pound cake bananas foster. Oh my what it delicious! Best desert I have ever had.
Overall the service was great and the owner Suzette was absolutely awesome coming out to talk to all the guests. Keep up the great work! Will always go back when in town!!!

My husband had the ribeye with the bleu cheese crown and «pig tails». He thought the steak was comparable to Jonah’s (another popular eatery in Thomasville). We had the baked pimento cheese appetizer and it was fabulous! The bread served with it was also scrumptious! I highly recommend it. I chose the chicken salad and pimento cheese for my entrée. Both were delicious. NO wait time. Plenty of outdoor seating and courteous and attentive wait staff!

We really enjoyed our visit here. We went on a Saturday night and there was a musician playing on the patio. The atmosphere was wonderful and very laid back. I felt like I was back at home in Louisiana. The service was great and they made you feel like family.
I ordered the fried chicken with pig tails. It was delicious and extremely moist. My husband got the gumbo with dirty rice. The gumbo was not as dark as we make it and the dirty rice was a bit wet for our tastes. But both were flavorful. The portions were great for sharing.
DO NOT miss the desserts! The bananas foster pound cake was like heaven on a plate. The beignets were fabulous with to die for caramel sauce.
Overall, it was well worth the drive from Albany. We’ll go back.
