Used to love this place. Not going out of my way again. Fish overcooked and not the way I ordered it, doughy hush puppies, remoulade sauce separated with slimey film on top. I don’t think the owners care anymore about the quality of their restaurant.

In town from Boston for a consulting engagement. Insanely good cheesy grits, insanely good soup. Rivals the best of restaurants in any major city. Highly, highly recommend.

Great food. I have never had anything bad there. Best things on the menu are the shrimp and grits, the Harvest salad, the gingersnap salmon, the cheese grits and the pork chops with apples, onions and bacon. Delicious! I have eaten here at least twenty times and I have never had bad food. I will say that their prices keep increasing and the meals sizes for many items have gotten smaller.

Jonah’s is one our all time favorite restaurants! If I could give them 10 stars I would. Service is always provided with a sweet, southern smile and is efficient. I always go in with the intention of trying something other than my favorite, Shrimp & grits but the pull is too much :-) The hush puppies are wonderful as well. 1 is never enough. The grouper chowder is to die for… Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Excellent food… bad service. Opened late for lunch on Friday, June 3rd. When asking if open received rude response. When leaving I commented on excellent food. No acknowledgement from receptionist who was in conversation with another staff member. I think I’ll try your neighbor for lunch next time I’m in town. Maybe I will feel more welcomed with less attitude…

Outstanding. Had fish and grits for lunch. Delicious is the word for it. The chef mixes it with veggies, etc. It has a different taste and look. Keep up the good work.

I feel that shrimp and grits have become such a popular dish lately I was hesitant … but this dish is the best ever! Not to be missed!

What an amazing place! Wish I could give it more stars. The food, service and ambience are perfect! Had shrimp and scallops pesto pasta, shrimp and grits and fried shrimp. Congrats to the owners and staff!

Enough great things cannot be said about Jonah’s. Every time I go to Thomasville, I try and stop here to eat. I’ve been other places in this city, and they’re good, but nothing keeps me satisfied like Jonah’s. Hush puppies, salads, salmon, white cheddar grits, and grilled chicken are just a few of my favorite things at this place. You’ll need to get here early. Even with them doubling the size of their space, there is always a line. You could put your name on the list, and if the wait is long enough, head to one of the local wine and cheese spots to grab a drink. This place is pretty famous. They’ve been in quite a few magazines, which is well deserved. Visit Jonah’s at the first chance you get. I guarantee you won’t regret it!

We poked through Thomasville on a Saturday and Jonah’s was the absolute highlight. We came just before noon, which was the witching hour — it was slammed 15 minutes later. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, mahi mahi wrap and a small order of shrimp & grits. We sat outside and loved it. Food came out surprisingly fast. Fried pickles were darn good. Cut very thin and the batter was crispy. For $ 7, the portion size was surprisingly generous. I’d order again, but I’m kinda eyeing the fried green tomatoes for next time. Shrimp and grits were delicious, but heavy. The small order was more than enough food — six shrimp and a bunch of zucchini, red pepper and squash. My boyfriend ordered the mahi wrap and he really liked it. The mahi was cooked perfectly and the wrap wasn’t overly carb-y. He got French fries as a side and we kinda regretted it. They were good, but there were better, more authentic options. Tl;dr — Eat here. Come early. Enjoy. Repeat.

After checking reviews on Unilocal,I stopped in for lunch. Staff was great and gave good recommendations for lunch. Dining area was busy, which is a good sign when looking for good food. I had the cyclone shrimp and white cheddar grits, and they were amazing. There were so many seafood options on the menu, it was hard to decide. Thanks to the waitress for her recommendation.

Cold as the arctic outside in addition to a brisk wind adding to the cold. But, TOTALY worth the 30 minute wait. AWESOME food should you decide to travel to Thomasville Georgia! They have 2 menus one for lunch 11−2pm and one for dinner that starts at 5pm. If you do not like fish they have other options as well.

I’m in town on business and this was my 3rd trip to Jonah’s. If you like seafood and southern cooking this is a great place. Tonight I had the blackened grouper with a sampling of all 4 sauces. The lemon butter and the Jonah’s(spicy mayo or remoulade style) were both good but the teriyaki with wasabi and the peach tree salsa were fantastic. I prefer my slaw with less wetness/mayo on it and their’s was perfect. I also had the spinach which also good. I also really enjoyed their hush puppies. I always get bummed that I can’t get a beer with dinner but that doesn’t stop me from having a great dinner.

Great centre of town location with lots of locals eating here for lunch — always a good sign! We went for the local specials of Grouper Chowder cup size — delicious well seasoned and great texture, followed by Shrimp, Cajun and Blackened, with Cheese Grits and a Hush Puppy which was a unique combination perfectly served! Attentive service was good and altogether a place we will go back to again for sure!

I love coming to Thomasville on the rare chances I don’t have class or work the night before. I tried grits for the first time here with my boyfriend who was raised eating them and we both fell in love. Jonah’s has set the bar and I’ll be hard pressed trying to find any nearby that will come close. I ordered my grits with the deep-fried catfish. I rarely venture to entrees of seafood or fish, but do it here. You won’t regret it.

Wow, I’m impressed! Came to Thomasville for a day-trip on Saturday and decided to have lunch at Jonah’s. Heard this place was popular. The wait was indeed very long but we didn’t mind much. We just walked around downtown and spent time checking out the stores nearby. Finally we sat down after about 45 mins. Service was friendly and efficient. I ordered the small shrimp and grits and my friend got the black grouper with side veggies. My lunch was phenomenal. Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! The shrimp was very tasty and the grits were so flavorful. I finished my plate in no time. My friend liked her fish as well. Overall, awesome lunch spot in downtown Thomasville. Can’t go wrong with Jonah’s! Will deff return.

I had the fish and chips here and they were great. The fish was very well cooked, and the batter for the fish was very tasty. It was not bland at all. I’ve found that to be the problem of other fried fish, the recipe for the batter is too bland. The hushpuppy was very delicious, the right amount of sweetness. My wife had grilled salmon and was a little less impressed but she still enjoyed it. I just wish the portions could have been a little bit bigger. The atmosphere was very casual and nice. We received friendly service.

I can see why this place would have its merits amongst the people of Thomasville and the surrounding area, which is incredibly small, but I honestly didn’t think this place was that special. I waited for forty minutes for a table on Saturday, a day which they’re probably busiest on. The hostess said it would be a 25 minute wait so I was sort of over the experience before it began but I was willing to give it a shot anyway. I ordered the 5.5 oz mahi mahi with a fried green tomato and the vegetables as the side. The food came out fairly quickly. The fried green tomato wasn’t terrible but wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. I’d say it was just okay. The mahi was actually pretty good with the Jonah’s sauce, which is like a remoulade. The vegetables were good and not too dry. The hush puppy was pretty good. I thought the food wasn’t bad, but it was definitely overhyped. Honestly I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. It was good while I was in the area but not mindblowing whatsoever.

Welp. That settles it. My life is forever changed. I came to Thomasville for a wedding. The wedding was actually in Monticello, Florida, but Thomasville is where we were recommended to stay by the bride, who hails from this part of the world. One of the reasons — this restaurant right here. I walked in, and I loved the ambiance. Really neat decorations and colors, old painting of the Bible story, nice tables, etc. The servers seemed to be annoyed that we came in later in the evening. They didn’t try to hide their annoyance at having to sit a table of five, 15 minutes before close. But, they’ll get over it. And I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I’d be annoyed too, I guess. Either way — I ordered the shrimp and grits. Holy cow. They were amazing. I could eat that for every meal of every day for the rest of my life. Incredible dish. Very cheesy grits and large shrimp. The rolls with the butter were fantastic. I could fill up in those things. The prices were a little higher. Not unaffordable, but a little higher. If the staff had been friendlier, it would have been a perfect evening. But as I say — I get it. Therefore, 5 star rating from me. I hope to one day return.

Lunch 2 days before Christmas 11:30AM This was good American southern foods that I will remember. Unsweetened iced tea was enjoyable and better than most in New York City; less acidity, and free refills were a bonus. Fried Green Tomato($ 6.9÷4) Crispy-juicy fried green tomato was delicious. The juice from the tomato and the fried oil with crunchy cornmeal worked a magic. The acidity from the balsamic vinegar balanced off the greasiness but I wish it has more acidity — not from the vinegar but more tomato, thicker cut, for me. Shrimp & Grits($ 10.3) Under the creamy grits, it packed with medium size shrimps but it was too salty for even a salt lover, me. I was suggested to get a small and I agreed with the suggestion. It was indeed a bit to much. Not the portion but the heaviness of the grits, beacon, cheese and cream. But It would be great to share as an appetizer of this size with two to three. Jonah’s «Big» Fish Sandwich($ 12.9) I only tasted a small portion. The fried fish(black grouper) was crisp and enjoyable — a nice crunch from the crust gave extra pleasure but this fish wasn’t «Big“but french fries were crispy and tasty.
