History

Established in 1973.

In 1855, Father Charles M. Menard, purchased land and built a school for girls on this site. The Sisters of Mt. Carmel bought the property and building, operating the school from 1855 until the Thibodaux Central Catholic High School opened in 1965. The Carmel Inn and Suites opened in 1973 on the same original site as the school.

Our family has owned this property for forty years, and flagged for 36 years. Since 2009 we became an independent hotel providing our guest with a culture experience and establishing us as a destination, no longer an overnight stopping point. We will be reestablishing the only full service hotel in Thibodaux, and are looking to forward to that moment. Today were serve a complementary hot breakfast daily and complementary dinner Monday-​Thursday Our property is ideal for weddings, baby showers, reunions, football camps, anniversary’s, church, pageantry shows, and with meeting space up to 5,500 sq ft. Greeting our guest with the best in hospitality and service that is expected.
