Not sure what the Outboard has to do with this. Sounds like you are trying to distract from the real issues. If I picked up the Outboard afterwards and seemed upset, I think it would have been about the fact that you were making up stories about why the clamp was not tight.
As for the clamp, you never tightened it when you installed it. This is not about residual coolant (that should have been cleaned up before giving it back), but about a clamp that you did not tightened, allowing the hose to blow off and spray coolant everywhere. I called you when it happened and you claimed that it was a rusty/​broken clamp. Not sure what is worse: you telling me you installed a bad/​rusty clamp, or that you never tightened the «stainless steel» clamp that held the hose on.
Of course leaving parts in the motor will cause damage. Glad we agree. It was only now that I was able to discover that the problem (of leaving parts in the motor). When you rebuilt the top end you dropped a part into the motor and never retrieved it. Its bouncing around took out a cylinder wall, so a new cylinder is needed to rebuild. I have the part now that you left inside and the rest of the motor. Glad to hear that you stand behind your work and are insured. Send me your insurance contact so I can make a claim and let them investigate.

On our way to Maine, encountered a pothole and lost bearing buddy just entering Connecticut. No one we called locally had a clue as to what we needed. Luckily we expanded our search and found Jim O’Connor. Knowledgable, had the part and friendly. Gave me advice on how to complete the repair. This guy is legitimate.

I really enjoyed my experience with Jim at O’Connor marine. I took my craft for a list of post winterization work and was completely satisfied. He had a great shop, with easy access. Jim is an old school, honest guy that tries to do what is best for you. His rates are reasonable and he is a straight talker and a hard worker. I refer to him as «my mechanic». He fixed a botched engine install for me on my 1988 Four Winns and always does reliable, competent work. Try Jim. You will not be sorry

I had a snow mobile that was given to me that sat in my garage for 2 years. Jim told me what was wrong with it, what it needed and gave me a price. He did the work for the amount that was quoted and I’m very happy. I’ve recommended him to a coworker and a family member. We are more than happy with his work. I will recommend again.

Oil leaking outdrive repaired summer 2011 (over $ 200 to replace two seals and fill with lube). Boat was in fresh water for about 3 hours total. Spring 2012 — leaking oil again. Brought back with receipt, Jim says «no, my seals do not leak» even without taking off the prop and looking at it. His suggestion to tear outdrive apart and replace all seals for $ 400. Took boat elsewhere mechanic took off prop immediately and sure «new» seals are leaking oil. I was treated «unprofessionally» by Jim and can not recommend him or his service to anybody.
