Jim from McCrea services our Lewes De region house. He’s been out twice – once late at night – and fixed both issues quickly and professionally. He’s unflappable, focused, and a genuine nice guy!

We had 2 new furnaces installed by McCrea, which were both oversized. They made so many mistakes with the duct work also, and would not fix any of it. Cut so many corners also.
I think this is a horrible company to do business with. The manager Brian is nasty and does not make things right when they are installed incorrectly.
We had to buy a new furnace from another HVAC company to replace the very oversized one. It kept shutting down. We like the new company that we are using now so much better.
We made a huge mistake trusting McCrea for our HVAC needs. Never again.

McCrea (Virginia), has been amazing. I have rented my condo out for the last 7 years. McCrea always communicates efficiently and often when I have sent them to my unit due to a tenant concern. They recently made a scheduling mistake and they gave me the parts and labor free of charge! It truly speaks volumes of how a company responds to a mistake they make. I cannot say enough great things about this company. Thank you McCrea!!!

Consistently provides great service. They have been servicing our heating and air conditioning since we bought our home over 5 years ago, and every technician has been courteous, helpful, and very professional during their visits. The office has also been easy to work with and very accommodating to our schedules.

I was doing some general construction at a customer’s home in McLean, VA and the owner reported that their thermostat was reading incorrectly and the house was really hot and getting hotter. He said McCrea had been servicing the units. I offered to call McCrea to schedule an emergency service on behalf of the customer because he was feeling under the weather. The person I spoke to said the situation was not considered an emergency, that the homeowner’s service agreement expired in January (less than a month ago), and refused to send someone out until the next day to help. At first they told me it would take two days before they could send someone, but when I asked to speak to their supervisor they put me on hold. When they returned they said the best they could do was next day service. Keep in mind, the woman never said they did not have enough technicians, but just that she did not consider the situation to be an emergency. If she had simply told me they did not have the resources to assist, that would be more understandable. She instead rudely refused to help, even though I told her, sincerely, that I felt the situation SHOULD be considered and treated as an emergency. She again refused to help. I ended up calling another company I have used in the past, Moran’s Refrigeration Services, and they said they would send someone out promptly within a few hours to address the issue.
I am not one to write negative reviews, because I realize they are a big deal to companies, but based on my experience with the customer service rep I spoke to in Virginia, I would never recommend this company. There are a ton of HVAC companies in Northern Virginia so I suggest you go with a company who values customer service more and trains their people answering the phone to care about providing good service.

I needed them to come out and diagnose an HVAC issue where it was failing on very hot days but would work again when the day cools off. They responded and set an appointment right away. Chris was the technician who arrived and went on the roof to look at the condenser also diagnosed from the furnace area. He described the issue in layman’s terms and worked to get the parts for my repair. He made intermediate adjustments so that I would not be completely without AC as we waited for the part to be ordered and delivered to do the full repair.

John Kline came to repair our A/​C today and dealt with our broken (and expensive) A/​C problem with professionalism, patience, and competence. Additionally, Molly, in the office, was also professional and helpful. What a great experience.

John Kline came today to fix our AC. Extremely professional and thorough. He was a pleasure to deal with. If you have an opportunity to ask for a specific technician, definitely request John.

Our upstairs unit was not working. We called McCrea because our builders used and recommended them. When we called, we were told it would be $ 109 to diagnose the problem and they would schedule another appointment if parts needed to be ordered or the job was too big. We were told if it was something minor they wouldn’t charge anything extra. The technician was professional and did his job to diagnose the problem. (This review is not a reflection of his service). Although, all he had to do was flip the breaker switch. Totally minor and totally could’ve been suggested as troubleshooting over the phone. He was at the house for 45 minutes. He ended up charging an extra $ 45 on top of the $ 109 that we were told it would cost over the phone. He said he only charged for 15 minutes of work instead of the 45 minutes which would have been $ 135. So $ 244 to flip the breaker switch?!! I called the manager to complain who told me she’d discuss it with the team. She called me back 10 days later to tell me they felt the charges were fair and they weren’t going to refund the $ 45. I didn’t appreciate being misled into thinking we’d only have to pay $ 109. Had I known it would’ve cost almost $ 250, I totally would’ve shopped around for better prices. I felt like they were more interested in their bottom line than their customer satisfaction. I won’t do business with them again and wouldn’t recommend them. There are plenty of hvac companies out there.

Chris came over today and provided me awesome service in getting my unit started. He knew what he was talking about and he made the visit informative and FUNNY! Next time I call you guys (because I will since I met Chris) I’m requesting Chris ONLY! Until next time…

McCrea installed 2 Trane furnaces in my new home 4.5 years ago for a builder. I have had service on one unit two times, one as recently as 35 days ago — but it is still not working. They tell me that I need to pay for another service call because it has been over 30 days — but they never fixed it when they were here before. Very dissapointed — have left 5 messages, but no call back.

Had a home AC unit installed. The team showed up early and got the job done! Very good job.
