Established in 1962.

Started in 1962 by Rodney Miller, the business has been transformed over the years in the understanding and preparation for the future HVAC needs of the DC Metro Area.

Because of management’s emphasis on top quality customer service, we train all employees (office and field) to be competent, of good character, in being able to engage in communicate with and dialogue with diverse customer population in order to meet their needs.

We value customer surveys and feedbacks as a measure of our success in the area of competence, character, communication and community. We are not successful until our customers are satisfied.

I found Rod Miller almost by accident 24 years ago went I was renting a townhouse — the landlord sent them since they could come that day. I have owned my place 19 years and have used them the whole time. We have a service contract and re-​up it every year. The staff and the techs are great about scheduling and showing up in the «window». I don’t feel they try to upsale me on products. I have been very pleased with the service and highly recommend them.

THESE FOLKS ARE AMAZING!!! They are so honest and helpful. Actually helped me fix my problem over the PHONE. First the dispatch woman suggested I go try buying a new filter. That did not work. I resigned myself to paying the time and a half (its Friday after 5PM) for repair. So Dave Dixon calls me and spends 20 minutes with me on the phone and I FIXED MY ISSUE. Air conditioner is working again and they did not charge me for the 30 minutes of super advice and skill I received from them. AWESOME– please try them they deserve your business. I am so grateful. My air con broke at 7AM and the house was 87 degrees by the time Dave called me. Saved me. THANK YOU.

Needed a last minute appointment for our rental unit in the D.C. area.
R.M. HVAC pleasantly answered their phone and sent David out the same afternoon. He called me in route, showed up on time (earlier than expected for a last minute call), added two units of coolant, clearly explained his findings in a professional manner, and was out the door in about 1.25 hrs.
As simple as all this sounds, it is amazing how difficult situations like this can become.
They are not the cheapest, nor the most expensive service in the area, but they did what they said they would do, and to me that’s truly note worthy.

From the get go they were so helpful and just down right courteous. My mother’s boiler system was having issues and had contacted the Spartan company and was told she had major issues and had to replace her 12 year old unit… RIDICULOUS! Things didn’t seem right so I looked for another company and found rod miller… they are great. Not only did I talk to a nice lady initially I spoke directly with a technician who talked me through what the issue may be, and scheduled a tech to come out later that afternoon. Once they came over they easily found the problem, showed me what the issue was, answered my questions and even called the main office immediately to see if the part is in and a great estimate. Overall great experience even tofay when I called to follow up to see about the repair given the pending snow storm.

Our furnace was making an awful sound and Rod Miller sent over someone right away. He took a look and was quickly able to see what the minor issue was and fixed it. We were also given several options with how to fix the noise with differing price levels. He told us which option that he would go with, which ended up being the cheaper one!
He also walked us through some of the maintenance of HVAC system and let us know when we might need to replace certain parts.
I would totally work with this company again!

The BEST! First, Dave called me on Saturday right after I left a message about my heat pump growing serious ice on it. He said it didn’t sound like an emergency and wait till Monday cuz it would be cheaper. So, first thing Monday they call and say they can be there is 5 — 10 minutes! Woot woot! Out comes Mike who is the BEST! In a classic 20⁄20 investigative reporter scenario (where he seriously could have ripped me off) he tells me the wires for the defrost were unplugged! Now, he could have really made up a great story and charged me a fortune. But, nope, totally honest AWESOME guy! He fixes it, checks the system for refrigerant, charges me a mere $ 105, we chat about his farm, and off he goes! These are now my HVAC guys FOREVER!!!

From the first interaction we’ve had with Rod Miller Inc. (RMI), we couldn’t have been more satisfied as customers. The installation team was fantastic and completed their work with no issues. The installers were courteous, and you can tell they value the customer’s satisfaction. I’ve seen and worked with many different HVAC companies, never really trusting them, until doing business with RMI.
The service team is excellent. For our 2014 Spring inspection, our technician was Sack, who was most outstanding. Very professional, he called to inform that he was on his way, and arrived early. Very curteous and asked lots of questions, showing he really wanted to have a complete picture before starting to service my heat pump. Very customer friendly, and was completed his work in a timely and thoughtful manner.
I recommend Sack to anyone who needs a reliable, competent, and professional technician.

Rod Miller heat and air conditioning in Silver Spring, MD did an outstanding job! I was having issues with my furnace and was looking for a new HVAC company, since I was not happy with the performance of the company I was currently using. My friend gave me their phone number and I decided to give me them a try. When I called in, the lady on the phone was very polite and helped me set up an appointment. The day of my appointment the technician called me to let me know he was on the way, which allowed me to finish a few a things around the house before he arrived. Once he arrived, he introduced himself and was very polite. I showed him where the furnace was, so he could figure out exactly what was wrong with the furnace. Once the technician was done figuring out the problem, he explained and showed me thoroughly what the problem was. He then gave me a quote of what it would cost for it to be fixed. He said the part that was needed, would need to be ordered. He called his office and had it ordered right away. He let me know the part would be in tomorrow morning and he could come back tomorrow afternoon. I was happy to know I would not have to wait a couple of more days and would be fixed right away. They sent the same technician the next day, which I loved because I knew he was already familiar with the problem. When the he was done putting the part in, he thoroughly checked the furnace to make sure it was working and there were no other problems. I highly recommend Rod Miller. They are very professional and make their customers feel important. My furnace is working perfectly. Thanks guys

1. Ma’am you definitely have two thermostats in the house and I am going to find the other one, even if I have to walk all around your house against your wishes (wrong)
2. We can’t fix your boiler filler valve, but I think I have the name of a plumber in my book (wrong)
3. You don’t need a repairman, you need a salesman — we can get someone out there right away (wrong)

Fantastic customer service! Punctual and efficient and fair. Ask for Sack! He’s super nice, super smart, and has great communication skills, such as asking me twice «Do you have any more questions?» What could be better than that? So often a guy will come to my home to fix something and all he does is grunt like a caveman. Thanks Sack!

I called on early this week and left a message explaining the service I needed. By Wednesday no one had called me back. I called and talked to someone who told me someone would come out today and would call 30 minutes before arriving. The best time estimate she could give was «between now and 6 pm.»
No one showed up. No one called. I was home from work the entire day waiting for the repair guy.

I am a HUGE fan of Rod Miller — great service, quality workmanship, and easy to work with.
Their customer service folks are outstanding — easy to understand, always friendly and upbeat, and make you feel like a person rather than just a job. I hang up the phone with a smile on my face after calling them — not really a common feeling when calling for home repairs.
Their repair folks have been very professional, respectful of our time and our home, and efficient in their work. The man we’ve worked with is great about explaining exactly what’s wrong, our options to fix it, and estimated costs and labor to complete the job before we agree to it.

I recently came home from work to find that my air conditioner was dead. I tried flipping the breakers and replacing fuses but there was no hope. After a horribly restless night, I called Rod Miller first thing in the morning. I had my choice of service between 8am and noon, or noon and 4pm. I chose the latter and received a call thirty minutes before the technician was to arrive. He arrived just when they said he would and was very professional and quick. The technician diagnosed the problem in less than 5 minutes (blown capacitor) and soon my house was tolerable again. He did not try to oversell and even suggested things I could do myself to save money. I am very happy with Rod Miller’s service and will use them when I upgrade my system in the future.

what can i say? they replaced my old boiler and saved my ass when they came over within hours (of course at an extra charge for after 5pm emergency) of my ac blowing out in midst of the dog days of august.
they are extremely fair, reliable, friendly, and have been in business for decades.
don’t take my advice… talk to people and see what they have to say.
