The homemade whole turkeys and roast beef used in Capriotti’s sandwiches are oven-​roasted in their restaurants each night. Capriotti’s signature sandwich and nationally acclaimed best seller: The Bobbie® (made with homemade turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and mayonnaise), is likened to Thanksgiving on a roll and was recently voted «The Greatest Sandwich in America» by thousands of readers across the country and reported by AOL​.com.

Other menu selections such as the Capastrami® (made with hot pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and coleslaw), the Slaw Be Joe® (homemade roast beef, provolone cheese, Russian dressing and coleslaw) and the Cram-​Slam Club® (a triple decker sandwich with homemade turkey, cranberry sauce, ham and lettuce) are favorites amongst their most loyal fans.

History

Established in 1976.

by siblings Lois and Alan Margolet, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is a multiple award-​winning specialty sandwich retailer with 70+ company-​owned and franchise locations in eleven states across the U.S. including: Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Utah and Nevada.

The first Capriotti’s opened in Wilmington, Delaware, in a neighborhood known as Little Italy. The concept was to capture the hearts of «real turkey lovers,» an idea that would separate Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop from almost all of its competition. Lois and Alan roasted whole fresh turkeys overnight, a concept that no other sandwich shop in the area offered. They began by cooking one turkey per night, but the demand grew to the point where they were cooking 10 to 12 turkeys per night. They served sandwiches made-​to-​order with fresh roasted pulled turkey, the best quality meats and cheeses, and fresh rolls and produce delivered daily.
