The Ranch House

Had a great time. Very relaxing and close to the wineries. Tanya even gave us a ride to our first winery and then we took Über back. Such a fun night! We woke up and helped feed the horses in the morning. Highly recommend staying here!

My wife and I have been the guests at many Bed & Breakfasts over the years and have enjoyed each experience until last weekend. If you are O.K. with paying a high price to feel like you are renting a small bedroom in someone’s house for the night, then you might be O.K. here. Also, if you need a place to bring your horse or dogs, this is an option for you.
It is close to the wine areas in Temecula. Just don’t expect to find the hospitality or the feeling that you are in anything other than an old house with the most minimum effort put into your comfort or of satisfaction. Our bed had a plastic cover on the mattress that was so uncomfortable and noisy that I had a terrible night’s sleep. I felt like I was wearing a giant adult diaper!
Breakfast was scheduled for 8:00 and we left just minutes before, as Tanya was not there and we could not imagine a gourmet breakfast that could be prepared in five minutes. We passed Tanya on the road as we were leaving the neighborhood. She called us when she got to the house and said that she could make us a breakfast of «Canadian bacon & Eggs» in «Just a couple of minutes» — No Thanks … Not after our experience leading up to that point.
After checking in Tanya said we were the only guests in the main house. We had very rushed tour and Tanya expressed her desire to ride her horse. When I returned later that night after a wedding, there was not a single place to park at the house, as apparently we were not the only ones staying there after all. I had to park down a gravel road in the dirt next to a horse trailer or I would have blocked in any of the other guests who appeared at night. The speed boat that looks like it belongs to the owner takes up a prime parking spot however. There were dogs barking to be let into the house and later ended up in the attached garage, a pizza delivery guy who drove up, maybe looking for the young couple who did not look like they were «paying guests», and people walking around up until midnight! In the morning I hurried to take a shower (no way to take a bath unless something is found to stuff into the drain) and when my wife needed to use the toilet somebody had beat her to it. An earlier post said there was no remote to change the TV channels — that has not changed though Tanya said she was not aware of that the next day.
There is a fire pit of sorts up on a hill, with trash around the area. There is also a flashing light on the back of the house that goes off constantly like a strobe light. Kristin lives at the house, and she seemed nice, but it seemed a little odd to be staying at her house, with here there. We didn’t know if she had her own bathroom or not, and you will most likely see her mobility scooter parked at the front door when you first arrive.
We just felt like we had rented a very expensive room for the night, and have never been so disappointed in a bed & breakfast in all of our travels from La Jolla to Flagstaff, to Maine, and even other countries. We were charged a «resort fee» as well, but this was not at all even close to a resort, and was the worst bed & breakfast experience we have ever had.
The area has potential, and there are nice homes nearby, but this place is nothing that you would imagine as a b&b. We actually thought we had the wrong place when we arrived, especially since the front yard was a little messy and nobody answered the door at first. There is no sign at the turnoff or even at the bottom of the driveway that we could see, and I wonder if there is even a b&b permitted at this house. We wished we had stayed somewhere else, or maybe even just gone back home to San Diego.

Background: Our stay was early Nov. ’14, for girls weekend getaway. We referenced the website for information and used previous Unilocal reviews also. We stayed in the Villa room that’s part of the house. We are dog lovers. Be aware there are lots of dogs.
Pros: Nice hospitality, big room, big kitchen, Tanya dropped us off at a winery for an evening — super sweet of her!
Cons: We paid about $ 100 more for a private bathroom, however there is no shower, but instead only a claw foot tub with a handheld shower head that required sitting in the tub to use. We feel this should’ve been disclosed because we would’ve opted for other accommodations. Getting out of this elevated tub is also tricky (and we’re young!) and a bit dangerous. There is no smoking on the property per their website and we are non-​smokers, but we smelled smoke throughout our stay.
Side note: please fix the TV remote to change cable channels.

This review is related to the manager’s response to my tripadvisor review, which is exactly the same as my Unilocal review. Tanya the manager stated that there is not a «resort» fee, however that is how it is listed on the bill. We called, texted, and checked the number several times for help and did not receive a call back. Kristen was not on property at the time, she was also at the event held that weekend. Also, we shared that for the second night of our stay our daughters would be with us. The room states that it accommodates 4 on airbnb, so we thought that Tanya’s offer of an air mattress would accommodate us. We were not offered blankets or pillows for the couch or air mattress. I am disappointed that the response to our concerns were met with excuses.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary this weekend and LOVED IT! The hosts were so kind and helpful and made amazing breakfast and mimosas every morning! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy beautiful scenery, fantastic hosts and an amazing home! All within beautiful wine country! We will be back soon so get ready!

This place is awesome! Kristin and Tonya could not have been nicer. Rooms are extremely clean and bath is beautiful. I will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Ranch House. Kristen and Tonya were very accommodating from the moment we arrived. Since the purpose of our trip to Temecula was to visit the wineries, Kristen gave us numerous recommendations and was even kind enough to offer to pick us up if we got lost (or could not drive back). In the evening our hostesses prepared a delectable meal next to the pool and afterwards we made s’mores over one of the fire-​pits.
The house is beautiful and situated right in the heart of Temecula wine country. Next time I stay in Temecula I will be returning to The Ranch House.

We stayed here with another couple as their second guests. I cannot say enough good things about the property, hostesses, food and quality.
This property is great for a weekend getaway as you can enjoy the beautiful gardens, pool, spa, horses and wine tasting. Kristen and Tonya were excellent hosts that provided a picnic basket for our wine tasting day, champagne on our arrival and delicious breakfasts with mimosas!
If you are looking for a quiet retreat in the heart of Temecula wine country, this is your place!

My boyfriend was looking for a place to stay for a quick overnight wine tasting weekend with a few friends of ours last weekend. Not wowed by any of the run of the mill hotels in our price range, he looked at B and Bs in the area. He contacted the Ranch House to check their availability for one night, even though on their website it states they have a two night minimum. From the get go they were very accommodating. We were told that we would be their very first guests, and were welcome to stay one night as long as we didn’t mind some cosmetic issues, as they had delayed their opening due to damages from the storm the week prior.
We were greeted with iced tea and a pack of friendly dogs (don’t stay here if you are allergic, but if you have dogs, bring them with you, they are very accommodating!).
The rooms were comfortable.
Make sure to note there is a shared bathroom. This was not a problem for us as the house was full of couples that we knew

The owners are characters — very chatty and fun.
The food was very tasty. We ordered the camp fire dinner as well as the breakfast.
My boyfriend and I went on a guided horse ride the next day– really beautiful. We rode through vineyards and saw some amazing views.
We plan to go back again soon!
