Jim, who did my scans, is one of the nicest and most competent people I have ever met in a medical office. He explained the procedure thoroughly and never talked down to me. He made me comfortable with every step of the process, and his sense of humor was very much appreciated. He turned what could have been uncomfortable and disagreeable into a pleasant experience. I also got a good feeling from the other people there. Bear in mind that this is a review only of my experience in the office and not about anything else(results, billing, etc.)

Wow. Nobody answers their 818 phone number; their fax line doesn’t work; their 800 phone number doesn’t work either. The message — that’s all I’ve ever received when I call — says«your message is important to us» but I’ve called 5 times in the last week and nobody has ever returned my call. The scan itself when I went for my appointment was on-time and very professional. But now I worry about the accuracy of their machines if they can’t get their phones to work.

I’m claustrophobic. I even get uptight in open MRIs. But University MRI has a new wide bore machine that’s super fast. And more importantly, they have wonderful, empathetic, patient technicians who let you touch and inspect the machine and then make the whole experience a breeze. I can’t say thank you enough! Definitely worth the drive.

No one called the day before to confirmed this mornings appointment so it was a complete surprise to find out that the deductible is $ 250 ??? And they couldn’t email the patient forms when I made the appt 2 weeks ago. So here I am filing out poorly photocopied forms, 15 minutes past my appt time. Art, the technician gets the 3 stars for his professional manner and clear directions, as well as his sunny disposition. But sourpuss at the front desk needs an attitude adjustment.

Had to get an MRI of my brain today. I am claustrophobic, so I took an Ativan before I went. The man called me right in away. The lady who confirmed the appointment last night, said I could bring music to keep my mind off it. Damn, turns out since they have this big helmet over your face/head you cant! The guy put ear plugs in me, and he was really nice. i told him I didn’t know if I would make it through, but I did. Its best to just close your eyes, breathe deep, and stay calm. Thanks to the Ativan I had no problem. LOL. Free and easy parking too on Clarke St.
