History

Established in 1972.

St. Lucy’s Vision Center was located in Town N Country, Tampa for 31 years before relocating to the Citrus Park/Carrollwood area in 2003. The new office was designed with the patient experience in mind. Dr. Stephen entered the practice in 1998 with Dr. Wetherell’s retirement. Dr. Stephen has focused on creating an eye health and vision care experience that will exceed the expectations of our patients. He is vigilant in maintaining a staff and office that reflect his excellent standards in education, knowledge, instrumentation, technology, therapies, and patient care.

Dr. Melissa V. Mercer joined St. Lucy’s in 2007, she shares the vision of excellence for all of our patients and brings valued specialties to our office.

Meet the Manager

Joy S.

Manager

Joy has maintained an active Registered Nursing license in Florida since 1980. She changed her focus from hospital nursing to optometry in 1998. She has been the administrator at St. Lucy’s Vision Center since she joined the office that same year. She has continued her studies in the fields of optometry, office management, medical billing, and human relations. Joy has acheived the highest level of paraoptometric certification, CPOT, which aides her in her role at St. Lucy’s.

Personally, Joy has been married for 30 years, has five wonderful children and one jolly little grandbaby. She has a terrific love for children and extends that to St. Lucy’s pediatric patients.
