Post Rocky Point

I would not recommend this property. Gates constantly broken. One guest gate was broken for over 2 months and nothing but excuses. I lived on the 3^rd floor and the people under me on weekends constantly partied with loud music. Loud enough that I could tell you what song was playing. Called numerous times and it continued for the 10 months I lived there. Residents leaving trash bags outside their doors overnight and the squirrels tear the bags open with trash everywhere. Again nothing done. Dogs not leashed a lot of times and poop everywhere not cleaned up. You have to pay for the gym and the «convenience» fees you get charged are crazy! They are more concerned about what flowers are planted than if your a happy resident!

Being happy here is all about your priorities… lived here for 3 years so here’s what I know… Pros– THE WATER. We love water and growing up in Florida on water, we knew we needed to stay around it. It makes you happy to walk outside and be surrounded by the Bay and mangroves. There’s really NOwhere else in Tampa (apartments) with this water access and Rocky Point knows it so they skimp on everything else while charging up the ass. But driving over the hump before you turn right at the light will make any day better because of the view. And the path is great. We kayak, watch dolphins… if you don’t care about water then I’d suggest looking elsewhere in Tampa for cheaper rent and much nicer amenities. Cons– Expensive. $ 1300+ for a 1bdrm that hasn’t been updated. Thin walls… can hear everything above us. Bugs… little worms appear randomly and mini ants reek havoc on occasion. Cheaply made… stove top is junk, handles fall off, cabinets different shades, sink amenities are gross. Gates are always broken. Gym is very nice for an apartment gym but it costs $ 35 and for that price you may as well pay $ 45 at a normal gym to actually have access to more weights, machines, etc. The extra gym equipment is locked up when the attendant isn’t there so don’t expect to use it on your own time. Computers never work and you have to provide your own paper which is fine but again, the computers, printers and fax machines rarely work. No parking… the pro to this is visitors can park without being towed which I like, but the con is residents have no place to park and if they feel like being assholes or the cop residents want to, they’ll ticket you or press a massive 8×11″ orange sticker right on your windshield. I’ve had over $ 200 in tickets and 3 stickers in 3 years because they can’t provide their own residents parking. A bit of crime… car theft, boat theft, robbery across the street… but I guess thats to be expected in Tampa. Most of the staff is ok but there are a few complete rude and useless girls. Location is far from anything (gas, grocery) so if you need something quick you have to drive 4 miles to hop off on Kennedy. We stay for the water and its definitely a livable, pleasant place with nice pools but if you dont care about water, look elsewhere

Incredible place to live! Come, enjoy the peace, the walking path, and other amenities…

Pros:
*Friends — we honestly made so many very good friends here — I couldn’t be more happy that I chose Rocky Point for this reason
*Walking Path — the path is so nice to walk every day — beautiful view with Dolphins and Manatees
*Tone Up Trainer — Michael Snow who teaches the Tone Up class is awesome
*Free Movies — free movie for residents every month at AMC Westshore
*Sunsets — best in town!
Cons:
*Price — way overpriced
*Spa — They never have enough backup of wipes (they run out all the time), machines are often broken down, never any paper in the printers, no backup of toner in the business center, and generally it is not that clean. Management just doesn’t seem to have a handle on what it takes to manage a Spa of what this caliber should be.
*Gates — OH MY GOD THE GATES ARE ALWAYS BROKEN
*Recycle Center — doesn’t recycle cardboard — what?
*Trash Compactors — full to the brim all the time — they need to schedule another pickup weekly
*You will be Nickel and Dimed to death for common area charges
*Car Wash Station — generally 2 of the four hoses are broken every time
*Drunkards — lots of drunks driving around this lot — watch out and park away from others. Thats half the reason the gates dont work is because drunk drivers are running into them!
Overall thoughts — I got some great things out of Rocky Point, but overall I broke my lease because I thought my money should be worth more. Just seems like the overall cleanliness and care from management has dropped significantly. I wouldn’t DIScourage someone from living there, but I wouldn’t encourage them either. Left with some great friendships though!

The worst apartment experience I have endured to date. So bad in fact we left our lease a month early and paid the exorbitant rent just to get out.
In six months we knew the maintenance staff on a first name basis and had to have the entire A/​C unit, entire water heater, entire heating system replaced causing weeks of inconvenience and excuses from the staff. All for only $ 1600 a month.
The amenities are for show from the gas grills that never functioned outside our unit to the dry cleaning «service» to the health club with numerous out of order machines on a daily basis.
Feral cats roamed the property, a pit bull attacked another dog on the walking path, cars parked wherever they wanted in the back nearly causing wrecks on a regular basis and the main gate malfunctioned pretty much weekly as well.
And when you leave they try to extract extra $$ from you by turning you over to their Atlanta Collections so they do not have to deal with you locally. We got out of bogus carpet charges and you can too by fighting back. We heard from numerous former tenants on this front.
The best thing about living there was leaving. That and Bahama Breeze out the front gate.
When it is good you will hear from me and when it is bad you will as well. Sorry to say this experience was not on the positive side.

Update: While I was told the ceilings and floors had been sprayed throughout my apartment, termites have continued to appear. A cleaning company was sent in to help, so to the large number of dying termites throughout my place; however, they just mashed the bodies of the termites into my carpet and left termites all over. I have been in contact with management and have to hire an attorney, due to the unfair options I was being offered for an apartment transfer. Now Post properties refuses to take on the expenses of my relocation due to this huge termite infestation issue. While I have finally been able to get them to agree to move furniture, I must move all other items and pay double rent during the time of my move. Moving because of an issue caused by their apartment is going to cost me a lot of money! And I have had to live with thousands of bugs in my apartment for months now.
Original: Termite issues and staff will do nothing to help. I called this in to maintenance the first few times and someone would enter my apartment. But after 3 maintenance requests and nothing getting done I called the office. They said that maintenance was deleting my requests because it’s technically not maintenance. Finally got the termite specialist to come in and he claimed that my termites were inactive. Even though new distinct piles were forming daily. Now, I have just returned home from a business trip and there are termites covering the inside of my shower. And the staff refuses to do anything until the office opens again (and will still likely do nothing). This is ridiculous!

I never thought I could love an apartment complex until I moved to Rocky Point. My husband and I have spent the last 4 years moving around and have not always had great experiences with apartment complex companies. Post has been pretty great so far.
The staff has always been very nice and helpful, minus one occasion. The office closes at 6, which can be annoying for people who get off of work late. I rushed home because I had a package and walked in the office at about 5:57, feeling very relieved that I made it in time. A woman came out to greet me, I told her I just needed to pick up a package, and she went to look for it while she looked up at the clock and yelled back to her co-​worker, «Hey, it’s 6. Lock that door!» Seriously? Sorry you had to get up and do your job? I know this is not a big deal at all, but it was pretty rude. It sent me the message that she’s not really there to help the residents. Every other staff member always makes me feel like they are there to help.
So that’s the only negative thing I have to say about Post Rocky Point. Otherwise, I feel like I live in paradise. The grounds and view are absolutely gorgeous. I love going out to walk my dog because I get to enjoy the amazing mile-​long waterfront path. It’s a great place to walk or run because it is made with sand and broken shells. Much easier on the knees than the road or sidewalk.
The apartments themselves are always attractive. I have an apartment with upgraded appliances, counters, fixtures, wall paint and window shades. It was a little extra money, but I love it. It makes the place look really nice and an average apartment. I have seen the other apartments and even though they aren’t as nice, I love them too.

It’s a dump over here. Kidding. It’s extremely nice and breezy tonight. I really do love Rocky Point sometimes. I especially love it out there when it rains and you can see the rain lapping against the ocean. I’ve never had an apartment in Post Rocky Point and I’m not sure I ever will. As much as I like the area, I’m not a huge fan of their prices. It’s pretty typical for an apartment complex to purposely withhold some apartments from their listings. Aside from alleviating any possible parking situations, it raises the demand for the apartments so that the premium you pay is justified.
Since I already know this, I don’t need an apartment there. Yes, it is nice to SEE the ocean but it’s another thing entirely to TOUCH the ocean and that’s what I like to do. That’s another reason I want to live in Clearwater again despite most apartment complexes there leaving something to be desired. The beach is a stone throw away.

Having lived pretty much all over Tampa, I can say that Post Rocky Point is one of the nicest apartment complexes you’ll find for the price.
Pros: Gorgeous location; close to the airport, international mall, south Tampa, and on the way to the beach.
Cons: There isn’t a grocery store or gas station for miles. Although there is a small market (that isn’t too expensive) on-​site. Also, you have to pay extra for the gym. Again, it’s not your typical apartment complex gym.
It’s right on the water, and the maintenance staff is AWESOME. They’ll take a certain amount of money off your rent per day if your maintenance request isn’t done within 24 hours. I have had very few problems with maintenance issues, but what I have had, has gotten done immediately. The pool and grounds are always maintained. It’s quiet and clean. There are three pools. One of which overlooks the bay.
I wouldn’t recommend Post Rocky Point for families. It’s more for young professionals. As long as they don’t hike up my rent, I plan to stay another year.

Yes, Post Rocky Point, I gave you a craptacular review about a year ago. But I’m coming back…
I moved to the Westchase area after living here. Every time I have driven by here since moving, I get upset I don’t live here anymore. I missed it so much that I am willing to pay significantly more rent to move back.
This is such a gorgeous location and really the only way to live this close to the water and sunset without being a millionaire. You really can’t beat it.
Tip: If you’re looking to rent here, look on Craigslist for their ads. They will post specials (usually for immediate move in) on there that are cheaper than on their site.

Wonderful apartment complex. Lots of amenities, a helpful staff, and super attentive maintenance. The 3 pools are wonderful, although– no hot tub? What’s up with that?! The location is great– it’s a 10 minute drive to anywhere– south Tampa, west Tampa, Clearwater, Town ‘n Country (though not sure why you’d want to go there). Close enough to everything to be convenient, but far enough away to be away from the hustle and bustle. I docked a star for the lack of hot tub and the fact that they charge for a membership to the apartment gym.

Confusing. On the edge of the middle of nowhere. Awesome.
The sunsets, the walking trail, the dolphins, the manatees, and the pools make this place unbeatable. Of course it is a drive anywhere from here and a $ 25 cab from South Tampa, but hey, you can afford it if you can afford a Post Apartment.
