History

Established in 2010.

At the Dancin’ Motion School of the Arts, we want you to explore culture, tradition, and your own roots and then use these to express yourself through dance, music, and art. We will give you the tools you need through a variety of classes offered, to help you grow in whatever art form your passion resides. At our school you will feel like part of a big family giving you the support you need to free your soul.

Business Owner

Maria was born in NY to a Puerto Rican mother & a Peruvian father. As a Child she was always intrigued with the arts. In 2002, Maria relocated to Florida & decided that is was time for her to get back to what she loved to do. It was at this time that Maria started training with Simone Salsa Dance & later on became an instructor for that school. She taught for Simone Salsa Dance School for 7 years & started the Brandon Site of the school with O’Neil Brown, where they were the lead instructors. After many years of being an instructor, Maria decided it was time to live out her dream which was to open a school of the arts, where anyone could go & learn an art & find their outlet in life & feel free. Maria wanted to be able to share this passion with the rest of the world & make the world aware of how important & beautiful it is for a person to find whatever it is that frees them up inside.

I love this place! I used to take salsa classes back in NM where I am from for 1 year. I just finished a 6 week course with Maria and her instructors and it blew away the previous classes I have taken! I love how they do different levels so you know your partners are at the same level as you. She and all her instructors are super nice and great teachers! Can’t wait for the next 6 week course and to learn more! So much fun :)

I picked up a Groupon for beginning salsa lessons at Dancin Motion. Since I had taken salsa lessons in the past, I felt like maybe the beginner classes were a bit too primary. The owner suggested I come in for a dance test to see which level she thought I was best suited to enroll. After less than one minute of moving on the floor she told me to register for beginning classes. This did not seem like much of a test but I complied.
I ended up taking the full 5 weeks of classes with the Level 1 students. The classes were a great refresher. I guess the one minute assessment was spot on. The classes were good but often started late because of the class prior to ours going over. Maria would extend our class if this occurred but that pushed us later into the night which is a bit inconsiderate given the classes were scheduled during the week. After class she would have open dance sessions available for all students to practice which was ideal. There is always a lack of males with which to dance but she had several women who were trained to dance lead so it usually worked out.
I would definitely recommend this studio for beginning dance lessons. The staff is friendly and the instruction is clear. The classes are affordable and there several options in each category available.

Horrible experience!!!
Purchased a groupon. The first class, noted a sign «Class cancelled» without being notified. Second class started at the scheduled time. Third class, arrived to class at scheduled time. We were told that we were late 45 minutes, The class started 45 earlier than scheduled time without being notified. Very unreliable scheduled. They had our cell and email but they weren’t used to notify us. I am not sure why they took our email and phone number.
I don’t think they deserve even one star.

This place is so cool. I have driven past it a hundred times, noticing it, but not paying attention.
This time I parked & went inside. It has unusual hours, so it is often hard to find anyone at the establishment, except when lessons are going on.
The people are fantastic, the location is central and the pricing is fair.
A little salsa anyone? They offer a variety of different dance classes, for all levels.
What’s a girl to do? I know I have 2 left feet & am not a dancer, but no harm in trying to get better!

One if our cultural dancer sponsored me to the salsa class. Attended my first class last monday June 1, 2015 and I like it.
Feel like slow due to the fact that I might already know the basic but learning it again doesn’t hurt me at all that means I have the time to check myself if I really know what I knew.
Teachers are great. And very helpful, how they explain the step make you understand better of what you supposed to be learning.
Debating if I will continue the classes to become good at it. But will see how everything goes after the classes.

Very casual fun atmosphere for learning and Maria is an excellent instructor. Studio offers plenty of opportunities to practice with socials and special events. I highly recommend taking a class. It’s so much fun.

I have been a student of Maria (the owner and lead instructor) for almost 9 months now and I can not stop recommending this school and the experience of learning dance to all my friends, coworkers and family. The instructors here are phenomenal! Each class begins with a demonstration of fancy footwork (Salsa/​bachata, etc) that is broken down into simply steps that make you understand that, «Hey I can do that too!» I can’t say enough about this school. It is the owner’s heart and soul that form the foundation of this school: that regardless of the missteps or inhibitions that you might feel about dancing, it’s «just» dancing so make sure to laugh, have fun, and come make new friends.
