College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving

I have used this company three times before in other states but would not recommend the Tampa branch to anyone.
I wasn’t expecting a comedy show from the hunks by any means, but a minimal amount of customer service experience would have been appreciated. They said less than 15 words the entire day.
The «stress free» representative that confirmed our reservation told us that our furniture would be wrapped, but all of our furniture came out scratched. Couches, end tables, night stands, etc all have giant scratches where they were laid on their sides. Not a single piece of furniture was wrapped.
We were also quoted $ 200-​$ 500 after explaining how many items and in how many rooms and it ended up totaling $ 800
I would not recommend this company to anyone. 0% response rate to complaints after the fact (it’s now been 8 days).

Where does this story begin… I called for a quote on moving a one bedroom apt from one side of town to the other. The girl gave me a quote however she said let me get someone to come to your place to give you a much more detailed quote. I agreed to do that and we set it up for a Sunday morning between 10 – 12. Perfect because I have weekends off! Nobody showed that day! No call, no nothing. I called on that Monday asking for a manager and got some kid who said oh, I see you had an appt and I apologize nobody showed up. I have sent an email to the manager and he will call you right back. No call, no nothing! 2 days later I call and ask to speak to a manager. A girl this time apologizes and says the branch manager will call you back within the hour. Fine! He did call me and set up an appt for today (Friday) at 10am. He said, I will be the one coming and I promise we will treat you right. It’s now 10:25 and no call, no show! The only reason I gave them another chance was because friends recommended them. I however cannot do that because if they can’t even make a scheduled appt, what will happen the day of the move? Stay away from this moving company!!!

Worst moving experience ever in my life. Raped of $ 1500. Things left behind, unfulfilled promises, heavy items not brought inside, instead left in garage (I am an older single woman). Gross underestimate of time it would take as a result of not having the time to come out and visually inspect .
I would NOT refer to my worst enemy, let alone a friend.

From sales, management and especially the movers… they were wonderful. We’ve moved cross country and locally. They were our best experience to date. Thanks guys!!!

I used them recently moving. They did not show up originally when they were supposed to, to give us an estimate. But they did a really good job moving my furniture into our new place. These guys are true pros. Everything from scheduling the move to the move, itself, on a hot Florida summer day… from my 3^rd floor apartment. They were quick, efficient and hard working. They asked good questions about how I wanted things done. They disassembled my beds for me and reassembled them (better than I did the first time around) in my new home. They didn’t break a single item. And they took very good care of the large furniture items on less than ideal staircases. They were friendly and funny. And as many times as I tried to offer them water and told them to take a break (if you haven’t lived a FL summer, you have no idea), they kept a really good pace. I hopefully will not have to move any time soon. But, I would totally use them again if I do.

Big ripoff. Charged over $ 300. to move a sectional and 2 ottomans. Lesson learned, rent a truck and do it yourself and take the savings and buy yourself something real nice.

I’m pretty sure the girl on the phone had no idea what a sectional couch was. I had stuff to be moved and stuff to get thrown away. They were a couple of hours late and sent two trucks. The junk removal was going to cost almost twice as much as the move even though it was fewer items. I ended up arguing with them in my living room until they took most of the price off. After the amount of stress I had to deal with, the whole move should have been free. Pay two friends and rent a uhaul, it’ll be much cheaper, easier and quicker.

Very reliable and movers were very professional and friendly. They exhibited the utmost care in moving my furniture and placing it into storage, maximizing the available space provided.

I literally had to do nothing. The guy showed up and told me that all he needed to do was «stay out of the way» I thought that was pretty funny.

We used college hunks moving for our move last week and they were very receptive and prompt. The scheduling was easy and the quote was competitive to other local movers. The «Hunks» did a good job of following up on my upcoming move and the gentlemen they sent out arrived early and when they realized they may not finish within the quoted time, they had 2 more «hunks» sent out to help unload the truck at no additional cost to me. If you are going to use a moving service I would recommend College Hunks they were definitely interested in securing my business and satisfaction with the work completed and the «Hunks» were polite and worked hard to stay within the quoted time.

Very friendly, on time, fast, and good price! They were able to accommodate my very last minute notice move without a problem. Will certainly be referring them to friends.

It was very difficult to find local movers that would move me to Fort Lauderdale 4 hours away. I called several companies and could only find movers that put my goods on a truck with other people and delivered it a few days later, plus charged for stairs and wrapping. College Hunks gave me a flat hourly rate plus a reasonable long distance fee. I was the only person in the truck and they drove directly to my destination. They did not charge me extra for having flights of stairs on both ends or to wrapping my furniture. The two HUNKS arrived on time and and did a great job. I would definitely recommend them.

Had an appointment but they didn’t show up and never called. Wasted my morning. Worthless.

This was the best experience I have ever had with moving. Very courteous professional and prompt. Was completed well within the time specified. I would recommend them again and again.

They arrived exactly on time and completed the job in the time quoted. I think it’s total BS that there’s a travel fee to any location though, because we live maybe 5 miles from their HQ AND we were only using them to unload our UHaul truck. They bring the massive box truck out no matter what the job is, that’s why there’s a large «travel fee».
They broke one of our shelves clean in half at the beginning of the move and then never followed up to compensate for it. The shelf was unrepairable and had to be thrown away.
The guys were very courteous, but they ended up drinking about a case of our bottled water (we had no cups, all still in boxes). I would think that with it being August in Florida, and the cost of the service, the 2 of them would’ve thought to bring their own hydration. We weren’t going to let them fall over from dehydration or heat exhaustion… but the water wasn’t free and neither was the shelf we had to buy to replace the one they broke.
We’d probably hire them again but would definitely watch very carefully to make sure they didn’t break anything else and were lifting pieces of furniture properly to prevent breakage.

College Hunks Moving Stuff did such an amazing job during our move on November 10^th 2014!!!
We usually just bribe our friends with pizza and beer to help us move, but my husband recently slipped a disc in his back so we decided to act like adults and call the professionals for our move. Since we were moving from a 2^nd floor apartment to a 4^th floor apartment in our current apartment complex we didn’t require a truck, just movers. Immediately we thought of College Hunks. BONUS: my husband found a deal on Unilocal for College Hunks ($ 155 for $ 200).
College Hunks were so professional and friendly! They arrived at 10:00am as promised and had a great attitude. They were very grateful that we had already moved our smaller stuff so they just had to tackle the heavy stuff like our washer and dryer. These guys were beasts! They moved our large, sectional couch as if it were made of feathers. We were nervous that the guys were not going to be able to move the furniture up to our loft due to the narrow, winding staircase, but after discussing a strategy the guys managed to move our large desk and other furniture up to the loft without any issues. The move did end up taking longer than the three hours we booked, but it was a bit of a hike from one apartment to the next so it was very understandable that the move took a little longer than expected. It was still cheaper to pay for an extra hour than it would have been to hire an additional mover.
I would definitely hire College Hunks again, but a forewarning to the ladies: the movers unfortunately were neither college students or hunks. The «hunk» in College Hunks stands for «Honest, Uniformed, Nice, Knowledgeable, Students». Bummer!!!

Horrible experience. Hours late, broke my tv and offered $ 20 compensation and was very unprofessional. I expected a way better experience than what I had. Overall a huge disappointment. Would never recommend this business to anyone!

Great experience with these guys. After a disastrous time dealing with the company we had originally booked, these guys were just angelic, to be honest.
We had to book at the last minute and they were able to get us in two days after we called. The movers showed up almost early (they gave us an 8am-​1pm time frame and were in our driveway by 8:20!). The guys had a very very long day moving us, but were polite, neat, and very professional. Would recommend this service to anybody. It ended up costing WAYYYY more than we had originally thought, but we hadn’t had the time to get an estimate beforehand and we had only two movers, took 13 hours (the elevator at our new place was down) — they were just excellent.

Emailed College Hunks Tampa for estimate on local move to include boxes, packing, moving and unpacking. On March 5, 2013, Casey from College Hunks came to our home and stayed an hour. Casey promised he would be emailing us an estimate by the end of the week. By March 9, 2013, emailed Casey to ask about estimate. We wanted to give every local mover an opportunity to provide a bid. Even the ones who were not interested were professional enough to email and let us know they were not bidding. Isn’t that just good customer service? By March 24, 2013, STILL HAD NOT HEARD from Casey at College Hunks. Perhaps they had the wrong email address? Emailed Casey and their headquarters one last time to give them an opportunity to redeem themselves. Followed up with a phone call to their toll free number to convey my concerns. Was assured by Chris that someone from College Hunks would contact me by the end of the day. Seven days later — NOTHING! Unilocalers — Beware — this company did not provide good customer service with no follow up. Wasted an hour of my time with coming to my home, but did not have the common decency to say, «Sorry, we are not interested in providing you with a local moving bid. Good Luck at your new home». Scares me to think if they do this before the estimate — what would they have done on moving day?
