Palace Saloon

This fuckin place. It is the perfect shitty bar that you could ever go to. The beer is basic, the place looks like it’s abandoned and you leave smelling like you’ve been smoking 5 packs a day ever since you were a baby. Yet, this place is incredible. The people are as diverse as it gets. Everyone is friendly, the Saki and beer is cheap, you can choose to play pool or darts or just hang out and bullshit with locals. Going out in Tallahassee doesn’t feel complete if you don’t end up there.

Perfect dive bar. If you don’t go when squeaky frat and sorority kids looking for a thrill are there, it’s a wonderful, dark little shack with fun people and a gracious bartender, where you can either join in a game of pool with some locals or sit with a friend and talk for hours over drinks. I highly recommend this place.

Don’t come if ur expecting anything high class. The first thing you notice when stepping in the Palace is the SMELL! If you can’t do 2^nd hand smoke (and I mean a LOT of it) you will be miserable here. Otherwise its super laid back and the drinks are cheap :)

Located across from my daughter’s house this dive bar is awesome! The day started nice an early tailgating then we thought let’s walk over to the palace and watch the game. When we arrived they had a nice bouncer at the door who graciously smiled at me and said welcome, come on in. Thanks, ha ha no ID, guess not! Old, smoky, and the smell oh my well it was unforgettable.
This place has character, local older guy’s bellied up at the large bar. Oh my the smoke in here was intense. I was so glad that we found a place at the bar near the open door to the outside patio where the wind was blowing so the smoke was a bit more tolerable.
Cheap, cheap beer, um Natty is what most drink here. We hung out here for about three hours as our crowd got larger and larger. Saki bombs were had by some, ran into some old friends which was great to see.
The locals are funny, some look like grizzly Adams or well maybe werewolves! Heck, this is a true good olé Southern local dive bar with cheap beer and the bartenders are super friendly. Dart boards, pool tables, yeah I think I saw some. It was a long day filled with a great time.
No line dancing but a good time for sure!

Why all the flack? anyway, as says yes its dive-​bar and tries to have that «southern charm» to it, not the place where the «fancy dressed ball» is happening. Crowds on most nights is actually pretty diverse, properly the more diverse bar in town. Just has a nice laid back and welcoming vibe to it. Yes those who don’t like smoke might be bothered by the low roof smoke presence, but its not that bad (coming from a non smoker). Music isn’t yelling over loud. Service on most nights is good. One of the bars where the beer is dirt cheap. The con, parking is very tight, bathrooms are tiny (new york city size=very small) often have lines forming, bouncers are drunk half the time and yet quickly push everyone out at 2am sharp. Concluding, its not an accident as they slogan themselves as «friendly» its a nice spot to meet new people at the start of the semester, or just socialize around. Isn’t on the «dangerous» side of town, but don’t let your guard down if your wondering about. Cops love to hide out in the area on Thursday-​Saturday nights so be careful.

the palace is like cheers… everybody knows your name. it’s like a big family there. harvey, excuse me, jerry, you talk about creepers there when you are probably the creepiest person there. the drink specials are nice and the females have become much hotter since new ownership has taken over. don’t bother coming in anymore because we can live without you.
the people who work there since my 3 years of going there are the shit (past and present). i love the palace the way it is and wouldnt change a thing and i am not alone in that.

An excellent establishment in which to get hit on by methamphetamine addicts and shotgun Natty Light.

This place is a complete dive, and completely awesome for that. A beer only place, with great drink specials and the ability to start a collection of 22 oz plastic cups. It’s Southern, it’s dirty, it has weird stuff on the bar, but it was one of my favorite places to get smashed in the area. You can play darts, pool, Golden Tee or just enjoy the scenery. Watch out if you’re driving out of there towards the East Side of town, as TPD is known to throw out road blocks in the area.

This place is Southern — your hair and clothes will REEK from all the smoke in this joint (then later that night your sheets will if you don’t shower). CAUTION — if you wear contacts you probably can’t stay in here for more than 2 hours.
But they have cheap pitchers, pool, electronic darts, video games and boiled peanuts. Boiled peanuts are apparently an acquired taste but to me they are just really slimy and nasty.
As for the music I bet you’ll hear «I Got Friends in Low Places» and «Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw» at least once!
Favorite memory — My former (female) roommate punched a guy at the bar for throwing a boiled peanut at her. The bartender threw the guy out, congratulated her («Wow, I’ve never seen a woman punch a man like that before!») and then bought her drinks for the rest of the night. Oh Tallahassee…
