History
Established in 2012.
Kelly Smiley, an outdoor enthusiast and snowboard coach for 10 years always had passion for extreme exercise that abled her to connect with her own personal creative expression. After injury and 2 knee surgeries Kelly’s snowboard career came to a halt. The injury created intense pain in her back and hips and for 5 years she was living a life in pain, which turned into depression and it only got worse. She knew she needed to do something about it. That is when Kelly found yoga. Kelly has been practicing yoga since 2004 and claims her back pain was completely gone after 9 months of practice. About 5 years ago Kelly got into the performing arts, «being part of a performance group has really helped me alleviate my depression, when I dance I am completely fulfilled and feel a sense of bliss.» In 2012 the idea of opening the Tahoe Flow Arts Studio was born. TFAS opened their doors in 2013 and Kelly strives to reach others struggling and create awareness that flow arts is the path to healing.

Business Owner
Kelly Smiley gained a passion for the flow arts at an early age when she was on her high school short flags team. Short flags opened up a doorway to spinning poi. With a background in flags Kelly picked up poi very easily. Soon after being introduced to poi, Kelly picked up a hula-hoop and she knew that Flow Arts was her calling. Having a background in teaching outdoor education and snowboarding for 10 years naturally led her to share her knowledge of movement with props. In the winter of 2010 Kelly discovered another passion, Aerial Fabrics. Armed with the knowledge and skills of flow arts, Kelly wanted to create a fun and safe space for performers to practice and encourage new flow artists to come and learn. The mantra play, dance, and yoga are the foundation for all of her flow classes.
