Tahoe Cross Country Ski and Bike

This review is more for the customer service then for the actual cross country skiing itself since I didn’t get to experience the course, but from what my wife told me it is awesome!
Over New Years 2015, my wife and 6 year old son went X cross skiing and had an amazing time. My son wasn’t feeling well, and my wife accidentally left her and my sons snow boots at the small lodge.
Fast Forward until this week (mid-​january), where my wife couldn’t find her boots and wasn’t sure where they were. I told her I would call TXC and check to see if she left them.
I talked to a young lady by the name of Sage and asked her if she happened to see them. She not only found them, but offered to send to me. I was shocked but thrilled at her kindness. I believe she then gave the boots to Allison and Allison spent $ 15 of her own money to buy a box and pay for shipping to send them to me. My good friends wouldn’t even do that for me… LOL. Ok. hopefully they would, but when would a business go out of their way to do something to purely help someone else.
If anything stop by this little hidden gem and give cross country skiing a try and even if it’s not your thing, you are at least supporting a small business, but doing so for people that really seem to care about human kindness.
Thank you Sage, Thank you Allison. You have a new fan and client for life, I’ll take a break from down hill skiing each trip and come and XC skiing.

Cross Country skiing is back in 2016. Tahoe XC is the place to go skiing and get a good expertise. With others of like minded and friendly attitudes, it is always fun.

Born and raised in north lake there is a sense of community and the locals are usually nice and friendly. As a previous north tahoe high schooler I will NEVER give my business to this place again. The customer service and hospitality myself and the two other people I was with (all on separate instances) was atrocious. We were each welcomed with judgement and a condescending attitude. There was a ‘joke’ made about being an Oregonian because of my license plate (due to school) that we try to get everything free. The only upside and reason for two stars is due to the amazing trails that I have grown up riding during the summer. If I were you I would give my business to someplace that deserves it!

although it was alittle difficult to find the location, my family had a blast here! It was our first time doing cross country and the trails were really fun with some downhills and some slopes. There is a nice warm lodge where u can also rest! Highly recommended!!:)

Hidden gem! Avoid the crowds in downhill ski resorts, and immerse yourself in nature.
This place is very close to Tahoe City and run by a non-​profit organization. The employees were very kind and helpful in helping us to plan a XC afternoon experience. There are a number of routes that you can pick, and they were not crowded at all. We very much enjoyed walking and nordic skiing in this park, and had relaxing moment. There is a vista point in the middle of the park, and it has awesome lake views.
I would recommend this place for XC and Snowshoeing for an unforgettable experience.

Was up in Tahoe City for a weekend wedding and wanted to grab a bike and hit the Burton Creek SP trails. Not only were the employees helpful in pointing us in the right direction for some epic views, but also made sure we had a great fit + enough water to get us out and back. Thank you guys for an amazing experience! I can’t wait to ride again up there.

I found this to be a great alternative to downhill; much more reasonably priced, great workout, and lovely scenery. We stopped a couple times to soak it all up.
Will definitely come back!

Great place, friendly staff, beautiful trails. I went to Tahoe Cross Country a couple years ago for traditional cross country and the trails were beautiful. I was even able to rent an enclosed sled and take my baby along in his car seat; the perfect solution to new-​mom cabin fever.
This time I wanted to try ski skating and showed up at 8:30 with plenty of time to get my rental and practice a before the daily free 9:15 AM ski skating lesson. I was the only person so I ended up with a free private 1 hour lesson from Rick. Excellent instruction and lots of fun. I will be back next time with the whole family.

What a great facility with a friendly staff, well groomed trails, nice café and a beautiful setting. We especially liked that they had dog friendly trails. We purchased a 10 pack of trail passes but we’ll get season passes when they have been used.

We were lucky to find that they offer *free* lessons at 1:30pm on the day we arrived. We paid $ 18 per person for their 12:30pm-5pm ticket, and basically had a private lesson for an hour. We had our own hand-​me-​down gear and we didn’t need to rent anything.
We had perfect weather and snow conditions for learning uphill and downhill techniques (according to our excellent instructor, Gene), so we very lucky!
The warming huts were great for fluid fill-​ups, including a propane stove and kettle for hot chocolate or tea! What a treat!
This was the first XC ski park we’ve paid for (we went about 1K on a groomed path in Yosemite, but I don’t really count that) so I don’t have much to compare it to. That said, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it!

My 200^th review, Yippee for XC ski! For beginners, this would be the ideal spot to take lessons and have fun. The staff reminds me of great bunch of friendly people, very welcoming. We were late for the 10:30 a.m. lesson and still they accommodated us. It was just the two of us, so we practically had private lessons for cross country skiing. Rick was our instructor, very patient and took us through the step-​by-​step or I call «baby» steps. He made us enjoy what we were doing and I actually learned how to stop, even though it was 1feet from my target. At least I stopped. The terrain was beautiful and it wasn’t crowded so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves without having the fear of bumping into people. The facilities were clean. Yes, small parking lot. Ended up parking outside. We got a groupon deal so we practically got free lessons. Trail pass would have been $ 22 and rentals $ 22? something like that.

Pretty good overall but pricey!
The terrain is really nice with lots of trails. There are regular trails and dog-​friendly trails after 14:00. The people at the rental place are nice but $ 75 for two people was expensive in my opinion for snow shoeing.

Just got back from Tahoe — went x-​country skiing for the first time and had a great day here. The staff was friendly and helpful — Trails were groomed and beautiful, we got private lessons by Matt (great guy) since we were the only ones signed up on a slow weekday, and the dog had a blast on the trails too. I would do this again… it helped that we got a sweet deal thru trubates.

Very nice cross-​country area. First time visit yesterday and had blue-​skies after a full day of snow. Not all trails had been groomed, but the ones that had been were in good condition.
Small parking area so its best to arrive early! They have set aside a couple of trails for skiers with dogs, something we’d never encountered before. All the snow-​canines we saw looked like they were having the times of their lives! What a great way to include your ‘best friend’ in a fun outing.
We stayed on Beginner-​Intermediate trails and had no troubles. We have our own equipment so did not use the rental shop, though it appeared to be fully equipped with everything one could possible use.
$ 12 Tuesdays! We’ll be back for that! (It was snowing heavily this Tuesday so we missed out.)

Not sure if I just came here when the woman behind the desk was having an off day, but I got very rude service.
I also expected this place to be ridiculously beginner-​friendly, but my [old and nonathletic] parents had trouble x-​country skiing on the beginner-​est of beginner trails (yellow). It was quite easy from my perspective, but to get to any trail you have to go up a small slope, and they both weren’t able to get back down without falling. Ultimately, we did not have a great experience.

Friendly people, a few dog friendly trails, 65K of trails, large selection of equipment rentals and sizes, warming huts, cookies, and decently priced. Parking lot is nearly always full. Right outside of Tahoe City, they always are offering promotions, demo days, and host many races.

Fantastic experience. Great staff. All supplies provided. Totally NON-​intimidating. Small enough to make you feel at home. Large enough to have everything you need.
Outstanding place for first-​time cross country skiers. A one-​hour lesson taught us everything we needed to know to get started. Ski instructor Matt was fantastic.
