Outstanding! We don’t go downtown unless either 1; we absolutely have to or 2; we want the best chicken Caesar salad on earth. Margaret has kept the quality and service high for a long time. Her soups are great as well,

Amazing salads! Fiesta on Thursdays is fantastic(if you add chicken it’s even better) and Cobb salad on Tuesdays is delicious! Different salad every weekday with homemade dressing that is to die for. Just writing this makes me want one. Mmmmm…:)

I love Margaret’s and Margaret. I love coming here for the Cobb salad on Tuesdays. This is a downtown Tacoma institution!

I love Margaret’s. AND Margaret! This the kind of place that caters to the workers in downtown Tacoma — yet I find myself driving in from Puyallup just to get the best Cobb salad ever(on Tuesdays). I really appreciate being able to call & order 1, 2 or more salads & Margaret always knows it’s me — she pays attention to her customers. That means a lot.

The fiesta salad is delicious. Super fresh ingredients, generous amount of goodies on top, and reasonably priced. I’m looking forward to trying other menu options.

Owner has horrible attitude. She mischarged me and tried to charge my card twice. The troll of a owner would not adjust the mishap herself. I finally just had B of A no charge my card. For food that is never heated all the way this place is not worth the trouble. Use CASH only and Malox!

Best cobb salad(Tuesday) I’ve ever had, and I hear that the fiesta salad on Thursdays is even better. I didn’t go in, so I can’t comment on the service. But the salad… yeah…

Where do I start? The good or the horribly bad? This place is nice for people who work downtown. They offer a few choice of soups and salads that rotate daily and some everyday fixtures like various quiches. I like the fact that they have vegetarian options or things that can be easily ordered vegetarian style. The food is pretty good… but also pretty pricey for a place where you order at a counter. Now, on to the horribly bad. My friend ordered a large salad and found the amount of dressing she was given to be a little light(aka she felt her salad was dry). We asked an employee for extra dressing and were told no after she consulted with the owner, so I went up and asked the owner for extra(and assured her I was willing to pay for it). She told me that nobody has ever complained about the amount of dressing she has given them with a salad. She was very harsh and rude. I calmly explained to her that each person has different preferences and that we felt the salads were dry and would like a little more. She gave me some, charged me and then proceeded to walk over to our table to see how much dressing we had on our salad. Really? WOW! All this over asking for a little extra salad dressing. I would think asking for a little extra dressing is a pretty normal request at food establishments? You would think she would treat her customers with a little more respect and kindness, especially when we are paying $ 10+ per person for things like soup and salad. I am not sure I will go here again. This is not the first time I felt the owner has been rude. She always acts like you are inconveniencing her or something.

I walked all around downtown Tacoma at 9am just looking for a nice sit down café where I could have bacon-egg-toast type breakfast. I ended up at Margaret’s. They had a sign advertising breakfast, although the menu is limited to oatmeal or quiche. I decided on quiche, they don’t even have orange juice. For $ 4 all you get is a small, flat slice that is thrown in the microwave and served on a small plastic plate with a plastic fork — not even a napkin. The quiche was cold in the middle and tasted at least a day or two old. Very un-inspiring. The server, I’m assuming it was the owner, was unfriendly. I ate two bites and left.

Margaret’s has been around for quite some time now and they serve up some great home-cooked style foods. The staff here is amazing and there’s plenty of seating for everyone any time of the day or evening. I especially love their sandwiches here since they’re made with such great bread. I dare you to try them out!
