Pizza is ok, but almost always cold. Strangely, even when I’ve had a slice that came from a pizza directly from the oven, it has a weird, «leftover» flavor. Not sure what that’s all about… maybe the yeast? I’ve never encountered a less than surly employee, though I guess what do you want from a pizza joint. They’re just so incredibly friendly at Pavone’s, it’s kind of like this place is a polar opposite. It’s not terrible, and they probably survive on the 2am crowd who are less discerning. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and walk the 2.5 blocks over to Pavone’s.

Excellent pizza! price is average! Large is 18″ and sundays price is cheaper! Crust is thin– med and meaty! Good sauce and real cheese, this is one of our go to pizza spots here in syracuse!

Thought they might have more options. At least next time I hope to have my slice put in the oven for 30 seconds rather than eating it luke warm.

I am from Long Island, and so I have a particularly high pizza expectation that is generally not found in the area. This place is the best. Thin, crispy crust and flavorful sauce. Plenty of seating indoors. Great idea after a night of drinking, or not.

Pros: cheap eats, cheap beers, good selection of types of pizza. Cons: The pizza here tasted like it was last night’s pizza reheated in a toaster oven. The vegetables were standard canned stuff, the sauce tasted like it might have come from a can and had added sugar. The other reviews raving about the food mostly mention it is great as a late night snack after boozing. I can appreciate that On a weekend afternoon, however, there are better options. To quote Unilocal’s rating guide, two stars, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»

Great pizza and pizza selection at a good price. Service was very welcoming and friendly. My only gripe would be the size of the slice, which was very average.

Fantastic pizza and the Manager Dave is one of the most genuine, nice guys I have had the pleasure of meeting. If you want the best, order a fresh pizza and not slices. The slices are great, don’t get me wrong, but when the pizza comes straight out of the over there is something magical about it. The sauce is consistently delicious, although there are definitely two varieties you will notice. One sauce is a little saltier and one is a little sweeter, but both of them are superior to anything else you will try. Also, don’t miss out on their Pesto Ricotta pizza. The pesto is not overly bitter and it is just all around well done. I love these guys and they are in walking distance from my work so it is nice to go there for a slice on my lunch break.

If you hate this pizza, then you’ll want to Nix Nick’s. Luckily, you probably won’t, because it’s actually really good. Now bear in mind that I give a 5 star to anything that really does it for me. A 4 star is more«average» because I don’t rate family businesses less than 3. So a 3-star family business is more like a «1 star» to you. And my 4 is more like your 3, maybe. With that in mind, the 4 star here means that Nick’s is not my favourite. If you want to eat this pizza like an animal, and feel it from the inside, and if it gets you closer to god, then it’s NIN’s Tomato Pie. However it’s not bad, and I definitely don’t want to Nix Nick’s. It’s a little like Pavone’s Pizza nearby. Rochester and Buffalo have so many great pizza places(and don’t get me started on NYC) that it’s hard for me to really get into Syracuse Pizza. The only 5-star one I’ve had in town so far is the unfortunately-named Paladino’s(because Carl Paladino sucks). If you bring your dog here, and he or she keeps biting you while you eat, then it’s Nip’s Tomato Pie. The server was kind of iffy about recommending something to me, but he did so based on how fresh the pie was, and so pointed me to the cheese & pep. It was nice. It cost only 2.75 and was really big, and I appreciated that part of it a lot. And plus this place is open til 3am for when the clubs let out, so it’s a great asset for Syracuse to have. «Nice» is about right for this pizza. In fact I’d consider changing it to «Nice Tomato Pie.» In any case, if you’re in the Syracuse area and want to try the good slices, this one is pretty good.

When it’s open this place has the best pizza in Downtown Syrscuse. I crave this pizza like nothing I have ever had outside of Italy((have been there multiple times for longs periods) and I must say the place isn’t so nice inside but that’s not what matters, as it’s the pizza that counts. Incredible and I mean incredible pizza.

I have been to this place many times and the pizza is consistently excellent. Having lived in Long Island and Manhattan most of my life my standards for pizza are very high. Just like the pizza I am accustomed to, Nick’s Tomato Pie has nice thin crispy crust, covered with tasty cheese and tomato sauce. They have plenty of vegetarian options and many different meat toppings as well. They have a lot of seating so it’s good for groups. It is one of the few places in town open late night which is great. Unfortunately, their hours of operation are not reflected in the sign outside. I have walked by many times in the afternoon and evening hoping to grab a slice of pizza and they have been closed.

My Wife and I are snobby when it comes to food according to most people. But we like quality and Nick’s does make quality pizza’s I would suggest this to any one of my friends and I do not recommend places unless they are really good.

It’s my go to spot for GREAT New York style pizza. I’ve never been disappointed with the pizza here. There are a lot of different pies to choose from. Order by the slice or a whole pie. They have wings too. It’s open late on the weekends.

Great pizza, and not just when you’re drunk at 3 am! I had it sober just to be sure it really was good. The pizzas always great and they always have a variety of slices ready to go and the staff is friendly, they have to be to deal with the drunks that come in after the bars close! Green pepper and bacon is the way to go!

I used to like stumbling into this joint drunk and pigging out. However, I left Syracuse about 7 years ago. I have no clue what it is like now. Back when I would go here, they had a wide array of pizzas laid out, ready for the drunken post bar crowed. It was called davincis before. Anyways, this was one of my favorite pizza places. I didn’t care for the people running the place. They were your typical rude upstate new yorkers. To this day, still one of my favorite slices of pizza. Very truly yours, GuyLaDouche
