I write this as a resident and home owner of Kagel Canyon, we live blocks from the cemetery and the whole community is very alarmed with a illegal dumping operation that has been going on with no regards to the future out come of toxic waste/trash that is being dumped and covered up. I would not recommend Sholom Memorial Park and Mortuary. We are doing everything in our power to stop this … the safety of my family and of my neighbors and the long term effects of contamination in the natural waterways«wells» and the damage it’s causing . sincerely ‚ a concerned neighbor

My husband is buried in Sholom Memorial Park and even though it is sad to visit a loved-one there, I find it so spiritual and peaceful when I do!

Sholom is wayyy up in the hills of Sylmar, up a winding road, past horses, up up up. This makes it extremely quiet and peaceful, enough so that coyotes trot across the grounds during daylight. It’s not a very big cemetery at all, and there’s nothing fancy about it. If you’re looking for a place to erect a giant rococo headstone for a loved one, this isn’t your place. The chapel is, again, no frills: a waiting area and a main room that’s neither big nor small. Wooden benches, a mural of some Biblical story up in the front behind the podium. A curtained family room off to the side. There are windows for natural light. If you’re not going for a service, I’m sure you’d never know it existed. It’d be a really great place to go meditate or read.
