Super H Mart

I visit all the local farmer markets and Super H Mart is usually at the bottom of the list of places I go to but I have to say recently, they have been killing it on deals. They are very clean and organized. Being away from Pleasant Hill and the ²⁸⁵⁄₈₅ crowd, the store is never packed so shopping is never a headache. They lack certain items found at ASSI down at 109 Old Peachtree but still a great place to go than your local Walmart or Kroger for produce, fruits, and meat.

Customer service at this place is unbelievable. Don’t come to HMart /​Suwanee until 11am because you can’t buy anything until 11am. Even though they open at 8am.
I went to the food court this morning to grab lunch and buy some kimbap and they turned me away along with a few other customers for COMING TOO EARLY to buy food?!? It was 10:25am.
I saw the kimbap wrapped and priced, everyone was standing around telling me that I couldn’t buy or eat until 11am???
I have been coming here almost every weekend to grab some lunch and buy kimbap and this is the first time I was turned away. I spoke to customer service and the manager said that it is their new policy. Other H-​Marts don’t have this bs policy.

Not many English speaking employees, but they have the best produce department hands down.

They have a good food court. Not always sure what I m eating but it is tasty!

Came here because we live less than 5 miles away, dbf got kimchi and a bag full of other goodies, I grabbed lychee, eggs and a few Korean snacks. Prices were not bad, the store was packed as it was Sunday evening. A really nice aspect was every department had fresh samples just like at Costo and Sam’s Club so you can sample produce, prepared freezer meals etc. Next time I’d like to try the bakery and the food court.

BACKSTORY: I went to H Mart to stock up on some Asian sauces and what not since I just moved to Atlanta. The last time I was at an H Mart was near Chicago, and the only thing I remember was being in awe of the many types of ramen that were available for purchase. Now that I’m older and have more advanced cooking skills (although no hate to instant ramen since I do love to eat it from time to time), I wanted to buy a few things to make hu tieu, a Vietnamese noodle soup. I recently got my nails done, and the Vietnamese nail tech told me I could find everything to make hu tieu at H Mart. So I decided to stop by there before heading back to Midtown.
MERCHANDISE: H Mart definitely caters to Korean cuisine, which was difficult for me since I mainly eat/​cook Chinese and Vietnamese food. The dried onions and dried scallops that I have no problem finding at a Chinese market were not available for purchase at H Mart. Also, I prefer the Red Boat brand of fish sauce, which is usually easy to find at Vietnamese grocery stores, but it was unavailable here. They only had one type of rock sugar and did not have the specific seafood soy sauce that I have used in the past.
SERVICE: I tried to ask 4 different people about dried scallops and most of them did not know how to speak English. Look, my grandma lived in California for almost 30 years without knowing English, so I’m cool with that. However, my grandmother also did not work at a grocery store. Good luck trying to ask a question if you don’t know Korean. To give some credit to the people working there, they were nice and tried their best. Also, the area to grab a shopping cart near the entrance was empty and it seemed like most people knew to grab a shopping cart from the parking lot. I wasn’t feeling that.
BOTTOM LINE: H Mart is clean and has some good produce that caters to the Asian crowd. However, I am still looking for an Asian grocery store that meets all my needs.

When this store was new, I would have given it 5 stars at the time. As time passes this store has changed.
1. The customer service has gone from 5 Stars to 1 Star. Today, we asked 2 employees if they could help us find an item we couldn’t find. Having been a few years since we shopped here, the best we could do was explain what the item was and where we had previously found it. The second lady had the nerve to go off complaining in her native language to another lady while pointing at my husband. You could tell she was obviously upset about having been asked for assistance. This couldn’t have been more rude and if I wasn’t concerned about causing a scene I would have given her a piece of my mind.
2. I felt my business was not appreciated. All they cared about was you sampling and buying the product you sampled.
3. The only reason why I give this store 2 stars was the fact they still offered the Korean rice noodles we like so much along with the marinated pork butt.
I told my husband I certainly won’t be shopping here again. It’s not worth the 25 min drive one-​way to get the pork butt. I will definitely be checking out Mega Mart per the other review said they like much better.
Just because I speak English doesn’t mean I should be treated unfairly by your employees.

This is just a beautiful store filled with fresh fruits and veg’s and a delicious Korean restaurant that serves Mandoo. We had a bole of beef bone soup with beef and kimchi dumplings and a bowl of seafood soup — also with beef and kimchi dumplings. Both were delicious. The banchan was minimal but good — yellow radish and kimchi. Would I return — for sure!

This Hmart location only has fresh produce on the weekends. During the weekdays, the produce are not the freshest and sometime not even in stock. The sales are better on the weekends too.
The cashiers are not that friendly and barely even speak English at all. The lady that bagged my groceries today, did not even separate my raw fish from my other foods. By the time I got home, I had fish blood all over my other stuff.
The prices are pretty good when on sale. Fruits and veggies definitely cheaper than Kroger and Publix. Large parking lot. I like that this location is close to home.

I live like 5 minutes from here. It is clean and organized. I love it how they have lots of Korean side dishes and marinated meat. They also have sashimi for fish lovers like me. Prices are cheaper than Kroger and Publix, but not as cheap as the other Asian grocery stores off Pleasant Hill road in Duluth. They had just about everything you need and more. I also love all of the samples they give on the weekend. If you get an H mart card, you get super savings and coupons. However, this is my favorite H mart food court. You should def eat at fish153 in the food court if you haven’t. Amazing sushi! They also have great Korean and Chinese food next to fish153. Last, they have Tours De Jour (bakery) near the cashier area of H mart. How much better can this H mart get?

This review is for their food court side. My wife was raving how good the Dduk bokki is at their food court and I was not buying it. How good could a food court in a grocery store taste? I was so wrong. Their food is amazing. Add in the Dumpling soup from the other store located at the end of the food court, the meal was excellent with spending less than $ 20 for both of us.

Thank for letting this place exist! I come here maybe once a month. They have a huge selection of a lot of products that I would probably use (soy sauce, noodles, soup mixes, etc.). As a person who’s grown up in a large city, I love finding things here that are out of my comfort zone, but they wind up being very good! You don’t know until you try, right? I like purchasing all of these cool exotic things (I’m not Asian and I don’t get to enjoy stuff like this very often, so it’s a great place for me).
They have a lot of free samples (and the servers are very nice). Stuff that I usually get here includes: buckwheat tea, teriyaki sauce, Korean pancakes, shrimp crackers, coconut oil, dumplings, and fruit. Everything is very good and I’ve never had a problem with this location.
This store is not only limited to Asian food. They also have products (based on the language that they’re written in) from Latin America, Russia, France, Germany, and stuff here in the States (for those who are stuck with you and don’t prefer anything else).
It’s always for me to come here. I get to buy new products (that I’ve probably haven’t had in a while or have never had in my life) whenever I come here, and I appreciate Asian food/​culture just a little bit more :).
They’re going to be sending us a coupon book in the mail soon (I’m pretty sure, since they’ve been doing that a lot lately), and I will look to come back again and again.

Eh. A pretty average H Mart. Like other locations, this one was pretty well organized and clean. Some associates here are friendlier than others, but I’d say that’s pretty typical.
If you use coupons sent by H Mart, just make sure you’re matching the pictures up to the precise T. Seriously. I’ve encountered this many times across many locations where the cashier only knows how to only ring up the coupons if the pictures match.
i.e. The coke products had a buy three 12 pack cases for $ 10. The pictures on the coupon had a Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. The cashier would not accept any other Coke products except only the ones pictured on the coupon. Needless to say, my friend had to go grab another Coke case. Smh.
Parking was plentiful since this location is part of a strip of stores. H Mart is set off to the left side by itself and a tad tucked behind the rest of the strip so there’s plenty of parking spots.

Great fresh food Love the shop there people can’t speak English so if you don’t know what you want don’t do your shopping there. over all I shop there a lot.

They have a great selection of produce. Prices are reasonable. The workers can be a little route in different department buts it’s always fun learning seeing new things.

This H Mart just seems to be smaller than most all others. It also seems to be dingy most times i go there. Their produce does not seem to be as fresh or plentiful then say the Johns Creek or Duluth locations I frequent.
They do still have Andy’s Deli Polish Sausages (so good!) and some other European meats. My last drip I bought package of smoked beef. I’ll break that out for a soccer match in the coming weeks.
This H Mart does have a Mandoo guy. This guy has sold millions of Mandoos and his Mandoo dumplings were pretty good. He gave me his card and spoke with great pride. When I come here and grab a bite, I order this man’s Mandoo. He is one of the last food stations towards the back.
On the upside, unlike other H Marts, there is never a long wait to check out here.

I love this store! The main reason is the produce selection. Would say the largest and least expensive in the area.
If you enjoy a store with abundant produce and Asian products you cannot beat H Mart!
You have two locations OTP, being this one or the larger store on Pleasant Hill Road Duluth.

I absolutely love SUPER H Mart. Before you make any judgments, I don’t love this place because I’m Asian. In fact, this is a Korean supermarket and I’m Chinese. Totes difference.
So why do I love Super H? The produce here is incredibly delicious, and cheap. There is not a better place to buy fresh strawberries in Gwinnett. The Asian candies, ramen, drinks and tea selection are also amazing. I buy plenty of herbal tea here to help keep me awake during work. So if this place is amazing, why do I only give it 4 stars? Well the produce here is always incredibly dirty. You have to wash your vegetables several times before it’s even considered «edible.» The lines also take a VERY long time. Don’t find it uncommon when you are waiting a while to check out. Another thing that bugs me here is that everyone assumes that I can speak Korean. I am not Korean, I’m Chinese. Why do everyone think a Chinese man is can speak Korean? Do we look alike or something?

Ok, so I am as white bread as they come (can’t jump, can’t dance, burn in direct sunlight exposure of more than 2 minutes etc.), so my opninion on an Asian Market may not be the greatest. But let me tell you, this place gets the full 5 stars from me. I really only go here for the produce section. It is the biggest, best produce section you will find in Georgia. Everything is so clean and fresh and they have every kind of fruit or vegetable that I have ever heard of, along with many that I have never heard of. They are also consderably cheaper than the major grocery chains. My wife was all excited a couple weeks ago about how Publix had a sale on strawberries. It was 3 flats for $ 5. My response? «Super H Mart has them for $ 1.50 per flat every time I go in there and you do not have to buy 3 flats to get that price».
Another cool thing is they have restaurants and tables inside where you can dine. They used to have like 5 – 6 different choices, almost like a mall food court, but I think the economy took it’s toll on a few of them so now there are like 2 – 3 different ones.
I love this place and highly recommend you giving it a try. I am sure they have all kinds of Asian foods and ingredients as well so that can be attractive if you like Asian style foods. I do agree with Paul R. that they should have more registers open. And the cashiers do not seem to be that friendly, but I chalk that up to cultural differences and perhaps language barriers.

The Super H Mart in Suwanee is just like all the other ones around town. Not as big as the one on Pleasant Hill, but this location still has a bakery, cosmetics shop, furniture and appliance store, food court, etc. Unlike the other H Marts, this one is not as packed on the weekends. It’s quieter and you can move around with your shopping cart more easily. Still plenty of free samples to try and when there’s less people, that means more samples.
My favorite thing about H Mart and all the new Asian supermarkets are their food courts. One of the food court restaurants in this H Mart sells Korean double-​fried chicken, a definite must-​try if you’re up this way. You can eat it there or get it to go. If you get it to go, the chicken comes in nifty boxes with handles and the food is neatly separated. Highly recommended. The Suwanee H Mart is located next to the same shopping center that houses Umaido and Café Mozart Bakery.
