History

Established in 2012.

Originating in Highland Lakes in 2012, the Flying Monkey Café & Deli relocated to Lake Wallkill in 2015 and is still the home of the best home fries in Sussex County. But we’re not only famous for our home fries; we also have some of the best burgers and sammiches to be found in the state: the legendary Mastodon, the fiery Edible Napalm, the gut-​busting Nuclear Submarine, and the mammoth Monkey Grilled Cheese. Not to be outdone, but we also cater daily to the breakfast crowd, serving breakfast sammiches, egg platters, pancakes, waffles, and our signature French toast specialties.

Business Owner

A Vernon lifer, Rob’s original idea of the Monkey was to be an Internet café. From the beginning, he wanted to offer coffee and snacks and, pretty soon, his food ideas eventually took center stage and the Monkey morphed into a deli and eatery. With a natural flair for cooking, Rob came up with all of the Monkey’s specialty dishes, including the Monkey Grilled Cheese, the Mastodon burger, the Edible Napalm and the Nucular Submarine.
