Most of the items in here were overpriced and some I’ve seen in other stores for much cheaper. This store is also tiny and packed to the point where the aisles fit one person at a time and it’s hard to check out furniture when everything is stacked on top of each other. See pictures…

I went in here at around 6 pm CST to buy some pillows. I found the ones that I wanted, but wondered around in there for a while looking at everything. There was a lady that was in there waiting at the counter for a few minutes. She was looking around trying to find a cashier or someone that worked there. After about 10 minutes she was still standing there waiting for help. She finally got help after we had managed to look through the entire store. Three Pier 1 employees had emerged from the back of the store. There was NOONE in the front of the store, they were all in the back. I have no idea what they were doing, but imagine how easily someone could have stolen something! By the time we were ready to check out there were 6 other people checking out. The cashiers were not friendly and confused a LOT of the customers with their questions. It ended up taking up almost 10 minute to check out, because no one seemed to know what was happening. We had to completely walk around the counter to the other side because they were allowing customers to wrap some chairs right next to the register and we couldn’t get through. The store was cramped and overflowing with items. I admit that I haven’t been in a Pier 1 in years, but I don’t remember it being so cramped in there. I am glad that I found the pillows that I wanted, but won’t be going back just based on this time I went in there.

A Store Manager named Rueben assisted my mother at this store. I am horrified at how my mother was treated by this individual and am sharing this story after reading the other poor reviews. My mothers account of the interaction is that she shared with Rueben what she wanted to do; return(with her receipt) the items purchased on July 21, 2014 and pay with earned reward certificates and any remaining balance would be placed on the Pier 1 card. He said he could not use the reward certificate because the points were from the recent statement and likely due to the purchases on July 21. My mother explained to him that this was not the case and his assumption was not accurate. She clarified that they were a «re-issue» as we had purchased over $ 3,000 at Pier 1 in the last few months and that I(her daughter) had overlooked them in the statement. She went on to share that the company had reissued the certificates. He said, «You could not have spent over $ 3000 at Pier I, because your credit limit is ONLY $ 2,000». Sharon, while I do only have a $ 2000 credit limit my purchases in 2014YTD are, $ 5,498.00. I have been furnishing my home and helping my mother with hers. I enjoy the Pier I rewards and we buy a lot of stuff on my card then pay off the balance very quickly to earn the points. My mother was shocked at his response and said, «how do you know I don’t use my other bank cards for my Pier I purchases?» she went on to say«we furnished our guest room with night stands, a dresser and many wall hangings and acessories from this store. Rueben told her he could not honor the reward certificate because«it could be fraudulent.» My mother warned him not to accuse her of anything as she had receipts and had not committed a crime. «My mother told Rueben she would like him to give her the certificate and card back» Rueben then handed her the card and certificate and left the register and went to the back of the store and did not say another word. He did not apologize, nor did he try to provide a solution. My mother explains that he simply got up and walked away.

Upon in decorating my home for the holidays I came into this store to see what they sell. To my amazement this store has changed quite a bit since I was here the last time. It looked more like a Pottery Barn where they had nice quality merchandise. They also a huge assortment of holiday decorations. I found the red chair cushions I needed and browsed around a bit. The staff was nice and the place was pretty much organized well. I will definite visit this store more often in getting other items for my home.

It’s a shame because I really like Pier 1 but every time I’ve gone to this store I’ve gotten horrible customer service. Yesterday I tried to do the new feature online where you put items in a «basket» online and your local store will have them ready to go pick them up. Well when I went to pick them up yesterday they didn’t have my order listed or put together. I stood there and waited for awhile while they were doing who knows what. They had no communication with me. I finally started looking for the items myself also asking another associate who was just standing there zoned out to help me find things. It also turned out they didn’t have an item I had ordered. I felt like such a burden to them. What should have been a 5 min. stop turned into half an hour. Not worth going back.

For the past 5 years I have lived about 5 minutes away from this store and have never been a regular shopper. Lately I have stopped by more often because of their holiday décor items and the fact that I bought a dish set about a year ago that I’ve added pieces too slowly. Today I decided that I will not be back to shop there again, in large part due to the poor customer service I received. I am not going to get into petty details of what transpired, but I find it really unfortunate when the worst customer service I have received from the staff was on behalf of someone in a management role. I worked in customer service for many, many years — both retail and restaurant, and now am a small business owner myself. I understand everyone has off days, as I have definitely had my share on either side of the sales desk, but this particular employee seemed to genuinely dislike her job and the company she was representing. It is really unfortunate that she is responsible for supervising and training junior staff.

Love love this place! Went here today and it was crowded as @#$% @#$%%$#@# but I understand why… They had TONS of great stocking stuffers, ornaments, and just oddities that were unique enough to pass as original! They have a section up at the front where there are toys everywhere. They even have duck shaped grapefruit scented bath oils! The items on the shelves were flying off, because there have been many recent markdowns. There is also a cool spa type of section filled with bath scratchers, bath oils, salts, and other spa related cool gadgets! Nothing in that section was past 6 bucks. Pretty Cool! I saw a lot of people buying the holiday décor and candles as well!
