This martial arts school is the embodiment of greatness. The instructors are tough, but they care as much about technique as they do about developing the student in mind, body and community. The camaraderie among the students is very rich, veterans are always willing to mentor newcomers. In addition, KravZone has a well developed children’s program that teaches discipline and practical techniques for the defined age groups. We love Krav Zone! Having a few kids at different ages with different schedules is complicated. Shlomi helped us find the perfect solution, a dedicated time slot with a weekly private lesson for all the kids so it was very convenient, affordable and we got an excellent instructor, Travis Latham, who is highly professional, patient, amazing with kids and flexible! The kids love him and enthusiastic about krav maga thanks to him.
The kids are learning how to defend themselves, it improved their confidence, self-​esteem and they know when it’s ok to use the skills they develop.

Not our cup of tea. Small crowded facility. Not very friendly

After running into a few unsavory individuals while in the city, I decided I wanted (needed) to learn self defense. I’ve been coming here 3 – 4 times a week for almost 2 months now. This place is amazing and I wish I had found this place earlier!
Contact them via the form on their website if you want to take a tryout class. They respond quickly and walk you through the routines on your first day (and make sure to pair you up with someone appropriate).
Instructors: super knowledgeable and observant. They can easily notice where your form is off or where you should improve to make the move better and more effective. They are always willing to repeat the demo or answer any questions you may have — just ask!
Classes: They offer a range of classes from Krav Maga to Grappling to KravFit (explanations and schedules on their website). They also have classes for children and parent-​children classes which are pretty interesting to watch. In general, classes start with about 10 minutes of warm-​up and stretching, then you split off into the specific class you want to attend. You get more of a workout in the fitness class, and focus more on technique and form in krav classes. There’s a ton of different moves to learn and they don’t usually repeat stuff, rather you learn different aspects of krav depending on the instructor, with the occasional repeat that only helps to reinforce your muscle memory.
Overall, as a person who isn’t a fan of working out for the sake of working out, KravZone actually motivates me to get up and move (with the added benefit of learning how to defend myself). I love coming to class and I dread missing class due to traffic or a schedule conflict. I highly recommended this gym!
Tip — parking can be difficult for evening classes (which are popular) because it’s a small lot, but I’ve never had any issues finding a spot. However, you can also park in the adjacent medical center lot (it’s closed by then) or park on the street behind the plaza if you need to.

My family and I love coming here for lessons. My kids are now both coming 3x/​week– for kid lessons, parent/​child lessons, and also private lessons with Travis. I can see their confidence is really increasing, and most importantly, they LOVE it.

How had I never heard of this place before?! I randomly googled a krav place near my house because I was intrigued to try it out. And was shocked to find a truly amazing facility.
I thought I knew all the cool fitness places in the south bay, but I was WRONG. This place is like a hidden gem!
After I had decided to give up competing in bodybuilding– at least for a long time– I really felt like I was falling apart. I felt empty and lost without that passion in my life that had provided me direction, purpose, motivation, identity, social connection, self esteem, and a sense of mastery.
I was searching for something to fill that void, something to enliven me– and honestly I was searching for something like yoga to be the yin to my yang. However, whenever I tried a new yoga class I was filled with angst and torture, mostly emotionally. It just never felt good to me.
But, upon a whim, I decided to check out Kravzone, and give me fighting and violence and yesss it felt like home. I turned over that credit card QUICK and was like sign me up!
I have been addicted ever since… I go there now 6 days a week, like a crack fiend. I wish I could go more, but alas, that pesky thing called work.
I feel really fortunate to have found Kravzone, because I was stumbling through a dark cloud of depression when I dropped in. And really found something that gave me joy. That really helped to lift my spirits. Something that replaced bodybuilding for me. Something that is my favorite part of the day.
And for this, I am truly, truly thankful. Thank you to all the teachers and peers for helping me to be a better practitioner. I hope one day to be ¹⁄₂₅^th of the fighter that you are, Schlomi!

I’ve tried the grappling, krav maga, and kickboxing classes so far and my first week was great. Staff and other students seem friendly and quick to answer questions as I’m a beginner in krav maga. You get a discount if you’re a student, military, or have a family member currently enrolled. The promotion I got upon signing up was a pair of boxing gloves. FYI if you end up doing krav maga (higher levels) or kickboxing you’ll need to get a mouth guard, shin guards, gloves, and a helmet. The fitness class and grappling did not seem to need equipment as far as I can tell. My only qualm so far was the parking situation. The 6:30 and 7PM classes seem to be quite popular and the parking lot is tiny (and shared with a Domino’s and 711). However, you can park next door in the dental office complex (it’s a big lot).

This place is amazing. My son has been learning Krav Maga, Kickboxing and Grappling for a year. He just love it… and of course we too. He started taking classes just twice per week and after four months he took classes daily. He became stronger, more self confident, happier and now he is a Green Belt.
Like a Mom I feel more safe and secure that my son is prepared and aware to keep himself safe. No so long ago sadly one of the female students was attacked in San Francisco but happily she could defend herself and defeat the guy. This kind of good news are the ones we want to hear more often.

My 15 year old son takes classes and private lessons. The instructors are very professional and it has been a very positive experience for him. Shlomi runs a first rate operation! In addition my older son is home from college and he signed up for classes. I highly recommend and you can try a class complimentary. They have classes for children and adults.

My son has tried variety of after school recreation activities over the years, including some other martial arts schools but never became so addicted to any activity like Krav Maga at KravZone.
The first time he watched his friend’s class and immediately asked to join too. I was obviously skeptical that this time would be any different, so I enrolled for monthly payment plan, to my astonishment he got hooked and has been training over a year by now, barely missing a class.
As a parent I like seeing him gaining new important survival skills and learning to defend himself in unexpected situations in the real world, yet it is being trained in a professional controlled super friendly non-​pressure environment.
I can’t put my finger what exactly is the magic sauce in KravZone kids classes that makes the difference, maybe the fun supportive atmosphere or the physical challenge, but my wife and I have clearly noticed that he had improved his self-​confidence and developed body awareness, he even follows better instructions and more focused at school.
KravZone has a very positive impact on my child from so many angles; we recommend this activity to any kid, with or without experience.

I love this place… addicted since day one. I’ve been going to KravZone for about a year now, 5x a week, sometimes twice a day (I am now known as one of the permanent fixtures). Shlomi and Tomer are hands down the best instructors you’ll run into in your lifetime. This place keeps me sane and is one of the highlights of dreary old Sunnyvale (I’m sorry, Sunnyvale, but it’s true!).
They offer varying levels of membership based on how many times you go (once a week, morning classes only, or unlimited membership). As a starter, I began with mornings and became so addicted that after just a few months, started the unlimited and would go mornings AND evenings (granted, I live pretty close by, but I’d still go twice a day even if I lived farther away. I draw the line at Antartica though).
Class offerings are split into «mornings» and «evenings», so you can either attend, say, Krav Level 1 from 10−11am in the morning, or go to the Level 1 class in the evening, at 6pm (times also depends on the day, which you can find on the website). They also offer kids and teen classes (I hope that by the time I have children, Shlomi will also offer infant-​training — that’d be pretty fun to watch).
And it’s not just Krav Maga class that are offered — they offer MMA & kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu, and «Kravfit», a play on Crossfit, so you have access to a full-​body workout (if you want).
But what’s perhaps the most important thing to know — and perhaps why KravZone is so special — is that besides being a great place to workout, and to learn from some of the best, it’s a friendly, fun and communal environment, no egos. This place attracts some great people and for good reason. It turned a couch potato like me into somebody who enjoys exercising 5x a week. Zombies can’t even chase me into a normal gym.

My 12 year old son is going to Krav Zone for many years and he still loves to come to the classes week after week (after all this years). the instructors are all so amazing, the facility is great and Shlomi –Well what can i say about Shlomi? really one of a kind, experienced trainer. I attended self defense classes for women at kravzone. I learned great techniques to defend myself while working on my cardio, core, strategies to asses situations that might jeopardize my safety. Unfortunately, I was attacked by a male while jogging in my neighborhood in 2011 and was very lucky to be able to escape with no harm. However, the fear of something like that happening again is still there. Kravzone classes definitely helped me with that issue. I recommend every woman out there to take classes to learn self defense. Classes were taught by the owner of the studio, Shlomi Katz who is extremely professional & respectful, he made our sessions fun, challenging, educational and inspiring. The price of the classes was very reasonable and the value was exceptional.

At 65+ years old I was looking for a way to get fit and maintain my weight in a fun way. I found that and much more at Shlomi Katz’s KravZone. Shlomi offers a variety of fitness and self-​defense classes taught by a corps of accomplished martial artists who provide great student support.
This is rigorous, out-​of-​your-​comfort-​zone training that build muscle, flexibility and a positive outlook. I highly recommend KravZone to anyone — especially seniors — seeking to improve their health and build their confidence.

I train here 3 – 5 times a week in the morning. Excellent instructors who really pay personal attention to what you’re doing and help you improve.
They also have combat conditioning Tues and Fri, which I highly recommend. I’m in the best shape of my life.

KravMaga is the only fun thing you can do in the Bay Area… for your health.
I have been training at the KravZone studio for the past three years.
I was looking for a new martial art studio after relocating from overseas, was quite unfamiliar with KravMaga even though I have been practicing different martial art classes since high school (Karate, Kendo, Kalaripayattu and KungFu) in 4 countries.
After a year at KravZone (2hrs/​w), my body changed and I discovered muscles that I never had before, lost some weight and developed more reflexes.
Besides learning how to kick balls, break arms, and choke people, I have found a place that makes me feel good, full of energy and strong, which is key to my work. I often have to present in front of people and training at KravZone (4hrs/​w now) helps me project energy, self-​confidence, and presence.
From a woman standpoint, I would also highlight that the three instructors, Shlomi (the founder), Tomer and Travis are super respectful of our weaknesses and strengths and set up that mood for the entire studio. After three years, I am still learning something new and useful each time I go in a both focused and relaxed atmosphere, refine my fighting skills and enjoy it.
I also train on Saturdays with my 5 year-​old daughter which allows me to spend good time with her and learn something together.
So, whether you are a beginner, an athlete, competitive or not, lazy or hyper, more into self-​defense (Krav Maga), Kickboxing (cardio & kicks), Grappling (ground fighting) or Cross-​Fit (strength & cardio) you’ll find something you like at KravZone for sure.

I convinced my 13 year old daughter, a friendly, non-​competitive girl, to try a self defense class. Krav Zone happens to have a class specifically for teen girls, focused on self defense, so she tried it. I could not be happier with the result.
To my amazement, after a few sessions, my daughter said to me, «Dad, I think I have found my sport». The lessons are very practical, teaching them how to defend against various situations, including weapons, sticks and ground work/​grappling. She has actually asked me to join more classes, so now she’s in a teen Krav class that she also loves.
The workouts are intense and there is a lot of contact/​sparring, but she told me that she feels great — PE class in school is now effortless for her, and she has a new self confidence that I have never seen before. For me, more than the martial art is the teaching — the coaches are all excellent, warm and yet intense. Not only are they the real deal (Special Forces trainers /​Wingate), but they are great at motivating the kids, building confidence while keeping the intensity at a high level.
For parents looking for a martial art for their teen, especially girls self defense, I can’t recommend this place enough. Definitely 5 stars.

I LOVE to come over to Krav-​Zone, KravFit wouldn’t be the same without Travis, who’s the most professional trainer. The atmosphere at Krav Zone is unique, you definitely can find your own personal style of workout, AND workout buddies who encourage you to continue improving your strength and agility. Shlomi the owner alongside Tomer are doing a very professional work and put a lot into the facility itself, more so putting their heart and soul into the trainees themselves. I HIGHLY recommend that place not only for you but to your partner, kids, and even your neighbors.

KravZone is the best all-​around fight training center in the Bay Area– hands down!
I was looking for a self-​defense method that could put a stop to any fight or threat I ever found myself in or better yet, stop one from ever starting. Krav Maga is well known for its practical and brutal street defense method and I wanted to learn from the best. I checked out a ton of dojos and instructors until I found KravZone. The owner is Shlomi Katz and let me tell you, Shlomi is the man! He is a knowledgeable instructor who really cares about his students. He is a highly trained fighter who served as the Head of Krav Maga and counter terror training in the Lotar — the Counter Terror School (CTU) of the IDF-​as tough as nails and an expert in multiple fighting styles. I have been here for over 4 months training with Shlomi and Tomer. Tomer Davidovich, among his Krav Maga expertise and similar military training background, is a skilled MMA fighter who motivates students to become the best they are capable of becoming. KravZone is a top notch dojo/fighter’s gym well equipped with heavy bags and sparring gear. They provide quality instruction by a team of black belts that are field tested and as bad ass as they come. They combine the most effective elements of the toughest fighting styles out there to end a threat as quickly as possible. We train in traditional boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu and at the core… street style KRAV Maga. They know what they are doing here and I always learn something new each class. If fitness is what you are looking for it will seriously get you in the best shape of your life. FYI-​They provide convenient class times that fit busy schedules and private lessons if you want that intense 1:1 instruction. These guys are winners and offer all levels from beginner to very experienced. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for training in self defense, fitness and mixed martial arts.

I have Hapkido and BJJ DVDs at home… it got me so interested in learning self-​defense, so I started to search for a place to learn.
I and my neighbor checked 2 other krav maga places and a Hapkido place before we decided on this one. And, it’s been 7 month… we still like this place a lot. Love the teachers, students and the course… so interesting… time just flying in the class… before you know it the class is over… never a boring class.
It got me to think who needs a sofa to get fat on watching TV, so I moved the sofa and got a 10’x10’ MMA mat at living room… Boxing gloves for my 5 yrs old daughter too to play with me.
Too bad is kind far for me to drive often… otherwise I would love send my daughter to there to learn also. Wish KravZone has a branch in South San Jose also.
