As of today, Cups & Coins is closed. Eddie has always been a great host and we will miss the guy. Our crew had our last lunch here yesterday and I ordered both of the things I always alternate between, the chicken steak and fried pig stomach, with home made noodles. I ate nearly every bit of food and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. We wish the best for Eddie. Hopefully he will re-open soon.

The food here is pretty good and the portions are big. Also, prices are reasonable. The hand pulled noodle and dumplings are nice and chewy and the broth in the noodle soups are light and flavorful. I take away a couple stars because of the ambiance. It is a true hole in the wall and its in a really dead shopping center. Also, my friends and I had a hard time finding this place since it has moved several times in the past few years. Not a really good sign. I also am annoyed they charged me twice on my credit card.

Update: this review is for the frozen dumplings we picked up last weekend. As mentioned in my previous review, these are house handmade. We boiled the pork with cabbage and pork with cilantro ones for dinner tonight(you can also pan fry them). The dumplings were uniform in size and the skin mostly didn’t break in cooking. Both varieties were quite good. Also, they said they don’t use MSG and I believe them– I didn’t get crazily thirsty afterwards. I won’t be picking up frozen dumplings from Tong Dumpling Pot anymore. 2nd update: the shrimp/leek dumplings were even better!

Notably the worst Chinese food ever produced in the Bay Area! The noodle dishes were greasy, the meats were chewy, the«casserole» dishes were soup-like! The steamed buns tasted more like«microwaved» buns… tell me it’s our bad luck and they don’t normally operate this way — I haven’t tasted Chinese food this horrible for a long time. I wish the chef would go out once in a while and sample other Chinese restaurant a bit to improve themselves… it’s really pretty bad!

Tried this place Helpful wait staff, Had take out from the menus Was delicious and different from the Cantonese-style food, I’m used to. Fresh and hot food. Cooked to order Worth trying, ig you haven’t already Would be great for a new restaurant to do well in this shopping complex

pretty decent stuff. like others have said, the beef noodle soup is pretty good. excellent portion size and i’m all about supporting local businesses. that being said, it’s nothing to write home about. i think fatima(cupertino) has better knife-cut housemade noodles(c&c was overcooked, but to be fair, it was takeout so maybe it steamed itself to death) and the dumplings are better at queen house(mountain view). however, if you don’t want to drive far and you live in the cupertino/sunnyvale area, it’s good value and pretty decent overall.

Nothing wonderful but nothing terrible. Definitely someplace to go if you are craving beef noodle soup.

I wished I could like it more, but really can’t, kinda. Everything there is VERY light, which may be excellent for some but not for me. I’d go there if I was too lazy to drive to some other noodle place but made sure I got some soy sauce and hot sauce to add/dip with… everything. The noodles(not the hand pulled) were over cooked and so therefore we couldn’t take it home either. AND the worst part: the weekend breakfast is not fresh(–____-) I saw them grab a package of frozen you tiao(the donuts) and the soy milk was good but very evidently packaged and watered down. The ambiance feels like«home», it’s in the neighborhood where I grew up, the tables look like my childhood dinner table, and the inside looks like a house with the«roof» looking ceiling. Like I said, I’d go there to fulfill a craving where I don’t want to use too much energy/gas but I do still want to give their hand pulled noodles a try, and their frozen dumplings to go. NONETHELESS, the guy working there is SONICE and SOATTENTIVE and just a big bear type. And the poster of the dogs on the wall tells me that the CUTE dog outside is his. :) I really wish them good luck because don’t we all need it nowadays to make a living? So all in all, I say… eH!

We came here for weekend lunch and I’m so happy to find a Chinese place nearby that isn’t greasy and Americanized. The leek pancakes were by far my favorite, but everything we ordered was pretty tasty. The house made noodles in my opinion were a little bit gummy(this might be my fault for waiting forever for the soup to stop being so burning hot), hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. I noticed that they have a very small weekend only section on their menu. I tried the soy milk off of it and was reminded of how excellent fresh soy milk is! Next time I come here, I’ll be getting the soy milk with some yummy fried bread sticks.

My mom saw an ad for this place in a Chinese newspaper and our family decided to go try it out since it wasn’t too far from where we live and we LOVE noodles! We ordered beef stew noodle soup, lamb noodle soup, green onion cakes, pork chops over rice, xiao long bao aka steam small buns on their menu(soup filled dumplings), and leek pancakes. Everything mentioned above was delicious except for the steam small buns which were so so. Beef noodle soup and lamb noodle soup were the best we have ever tasted in a restaurant in the bay area! Tasted like home made– the meat were very tender and the soup didn’t have any oil at all! We finished everrryyything including every drop of soup! In the pork chop over rice– it came with a soy sauce egg and bean curd which was really tender. Super tasty and will be included in all future orders here. My mother loved the leek pancakes here– every chinese place we go we usually get this dish but this surpassed them all! It wasn’t salty like how most places had it. I do believe we will be frequently this place quiet often for in house dining as well as take out! Highly recommended! Go check it out as soon as you can!
