I’ve been here a couple of time while I used to live in the area. This establishment is located at the corner of Laurel CNY and Sheldon. Parking is OK. Both interior and exterior of the place gives you a Texas cowboy kind of feel. The inside is dimly lit and the ambience is kinda mixed. At the center of the restaurant they have a full salad bar and towards the back they have a hall. In my opinion the hall is a bit of a problem because when it’s rented out you can hear the loud music thumping in the main restaurant. If you come here during the week when nobody is renting the hall then it is a pretty decent place to come and eat. The staff is pretty friendly and the food is pretty good.

Our company retirement party used Big Jim’s this past June and it was a nice event overall. We had 50 guests and there was plenty of food for all. We brought our own speaker system, the banquet room was mic-ed to the bar and that was okay. During our program the owner did a bit of yelling to the servers and I had to wait for her to stop to continue. The food itself was so-so. We thought the guests would get refills of ice tea, coffee, and sodas. It took a while to get served since the servers were busy taking drink orders. It seems they were short-staffed for our event. The food was so-so. There was a nice fruit display, but the chicken was on the skimpy side. We enjoyed our time overall. Some issues with the owner were that she did not have my notes that I wanted a certain tablecloth, etc., even though I tried to get it to her early. We were supposed to pay ahead of time, but somehow we didn’t. They didn’t make a big issue out of it, for that I am thankful.

Came in this morning with my parents to have breakfast. Well I had breakfast and they had lunch specials Enchiladas and Chicken Parmesan. The presentation was good. I ordered Big Jims Omelet and it was great the flavor was great and avocado was really fresh. Big Jims really changed no just new menus but also the quality of fresh breakfast. I still have to try their lunch. Well till next time Big Jims !

This is a nice family restaurant with fresh food and friendly service. The house made desserts are awesome and the Tiramisu is the best ever. Great selection from burgers to Mexican and large enough to handle big parties.

Pleasant experience for breakfast. Had not been here in a while. The food was great of course w big portions. Pancakes were delish. A whole lot better than IHOP or Denny’s. Machaca w egg whites was great and that salsa. Yum. Willy our waiter today was friendly and attentive and did not bring our bill until we asked. Unlike other places that make u feel like it’s time to leave. Place was very clean. It seems like they did some renovation. Come on over and give them a try for breakfast.

Really good food with an amazing selection! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and a great value. Very few restaurants offer the selection and price that you get at Big Jim’s. This place has been serving this area for over thirty years and has maintained quality and value to today. Not fancy, but worth a try!

What a disappointment this place was. I had always wanted to dine here as it looked like it was out of a old western movie. I joined a group of 5, making it 6. Some meals were already out, but 1 order already came out wrong and I was told they had waited 45mins for it too. Me and 2 other guest put our meals in at the same time and asked for separate checks. Our meals came out about 20 mins later– not terrible. I had asked for scrambled eggs, and received scrambled eggs and hash-browns which i had never asked for the hash-browns so I assumed that was the only way the scrambled eggs would come. Payment was the worst thing I have ever seen. None of the checks were separate. They were all hand written, not printed on normal receipt paper. Apparently for orders under $ 10 you MUST pay cash otherwise you’re required to pay the $ 10. I mean what is this? We’re in 2016 in LOSANGELES for crying out loud. The server at least could have told us that when we were ordering. But then again we had 3 different servers throughout our stay. I luckly had cash to pay for the scrambled eggs so I did, but after waiting another 20mins for this payment thing to be sorted out, they said who ordered eggs and hash browns? Well none of us did… but they came out. I explained to the manager the server made a mistake by adding hash browns and I really don’t think I should pay for that mistake… But none the less she wanted me to put down my credit card and pay the creditcard fee so they could get tipped for their horrible service. Lucky a friend gave me the extra money for the food I DIDNOTORDER! Only reason I’m not giving 1 star is I felt bad when the manager told me they were robbed the day before. Seriously if they updated, used cards without a $ 10 minimum and put the receipts on a computer system they would hardly have cash to get robbed. This place is a hot mess sadly. I hope it changes ownership because it could really be something.

I love this place. The food is amazing(recommend fajitas), affordable, and the atmosphere is exactly what you need after a rough day at work. Been coming here with my family for the last decade, and I intend to keep this family tradition going with my own kids. Definitely recommend, support your local businesses, trust you won’t regret it.

I used to come here like once a week after basketball games with my husbands team to have dinner and it wasnt bad but it wasnt like OMG. We would always get the specials which were pretty good and came with a soup or salad bar and was normally under $ 10 no more than $ 15. Well today was the first time in like almost 2 years that we’ve come back to eat and let me tell you… this place went to shit. I don’t know if they changed management or what. First of all, the place needs MAJOR upgrade because its so old looking. There wasnt a lot of people when we came and they chose to seat us at a dirty table which they half assed cleaned in front of us. We ordered the specials steak and shrimp and enchiladas suizas. My special didnt come with a soup or salad and they said that it was only available for American dishes… O-K. –__– Our food came and the steak and shrimp presentation looked fancy but my husband said the steak was good up until he got to the middle which was then pure fat. He was left feeling the dish was Ehh. My enchiladas suizas were Ehh as well. The pinto beans tasted disgusting and burnt my 1 year old even refused to eat it. The rice was over cooked or old cuz it tasted hard. The enchiladas were OK. We paid and then realized that the steak«special» was 18.95 totally NOTWORTHTHEPRICE!!! We hadn’t even left the place and my stomach was already churning. This place gets 2 stars because our server was really nice and the flan was good. We just came here because we had a gift certificate. We didnt have high expectations but we definitely left disappointed. We will NOT be coming back here.

I absolutely love this place ! It has the best food and drinks around! The cucumber margarita is one of the best ! Every time I come here I try something different. It has a large variety of food to try. The ribs are amazing the meat falls right off the bone. And they have Sunday brunch the omelets and pancakes are fresh and made to order. They have friendly staff and the parking is huge. I definitely recommend this place ! Better than any Dennys or IHOP.

We went to Jims and had lunch and ordered the ALLYOUCANEAT salad bar for $ 10. There was three of us going there to enjoy lunch. The food was good, no complaints but when the bill came we were a little surprised that we had to pay for the soups and thought it was part of the salad bar, making the bill an additional $ 20 more. Total lunch was about $ 60.00 Later that day we had dinner at a Thai Restuarant, Soup, Vegetables and drinks for two of us and only paid $ 15.00 The staff is really nice, they have everything in place and we have gone there for years but it was overpriced and caught us by surprise.

This restaurant is the definition of the description, «It was… Okay». I went with a whole family and we all got something different. I got the burrito especial and I would recommend getting something else. The rice was okay. The burrito was very sloppy and didn’t really taste as good as the menu described. I couldn’t even finish it, and I’m known to finish my food. It made my stomach ache as well. My friend who was there got the buffalo wings. They weren’t too bad. I would recommend those over what I got. But like I said earlier, everything was … Okay. If you’re gonna get wings, I would recommend an actual wing’s restaurant. The mash potatoes, I would say, were the best thing at this restaurant

I absolutely love this place ! The staff is so friendly and nice. They tend to you right away and OMG the food is amazing! I always start off with the cowboy platter, my all time favorite. And the manager is so sweet, she brought my daughter ice cream after she finished her food just because she’s so nice. My baby loves it ! I will always go back and have a meal there. I love taking friends who never been they are always impressed. Big Jim’s is a hidden gem.

My family and I went to big Jim’s for brunch this morning. We were escorted to a dimly lit banquet room. The food was very mediocre and bland. The customer service was poor. Waiters attitudes were horrible. The mimosas were watered down. I wasn’t very happy with place at all. I will not be retuning … Wasted $ 16pp on this place.

The food is always great here so far nothing I haven’t liked. The margarita was awesome and the chocolate cake I took home for later. It was a bit too dark for me but I enjoyed it a little at a time. My friend got an awesome looking burger. I will try this next time

Worst place to eat. Over priced food that wasn’t worth it. I ordered breakfast burrito and the waitress brought breakfast tacos… She eventually brought me the burrito and it tasted so horrible. I tried to add Tabasco, ketchup, anything to give it some flavor but nothing helped. Never again will I eat here.

Big Jim’s is alright with me! My first time here for a Labor Day breakfast was awesome. Not to crowded and the staff were very nice and attentive. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was very spicy and delicious :)) But $ 8.50 is a little pricy ! It should be around $ 5.50 Max. Then I ordered the Machaca Plate with rice and beans and it came with 3 corn tortilla’s and I ate it all:)) Very tasty !!! I will come back for more:) I really liked this restaurant :))

I ordered the fettuccini chicken alfredo. I don’t normally ever leave food I usually take it go if I can’t finish it. It was so disgusting. Honestly the best part of the meal was the complimentary salad bar the meal with. The pasta sauce was runny without flavor. It just tasted really bland, and unflavored. So sad something so basic to make was ruined. I’ve ordered the turkey roast dinner and that was good. The taco salad looks good too. Salad bar has some variety. No bad. Prices are reasonable. Staff is short, will take a while to get serviced, guess management is cheap in hiring more staff. There’s always one woman I guess she’s a manager who always sits in one of the tables with a computer and papers near the entry. It’s like she’s doing bookkeeping for the restaurant. Really? Isn’t there an office for you to spread your business at. She’s always there with a computer or an iPad and papers everywhere. Not the nicest thing to see when you enter a restaurant. I wish they would keep this place in better standards. It’s like management has gotten lazy. Padding on counters need refilling, you sink in on almost all of them. Décor is outdated. The last time I was there two women came in for lunch and had seated themselves with their own menus! I like this place but it really needs to step up its game during daytime hours.

Came here for breakfast buffet. It sucked, not many options. The drinks they offer were horchata, fruit punch and pink lemonade, they all tasted like they were made from a powder mix. Your better off going to Acapulco, about same price($ 16 adult $ 7 child) and they have more options.

The food itself was pretty good. Large portions and well seasoned food were served, but the service was lackluster and very slow. The staff was friendly but our drinks sat empty several times for quite a length of time and the time between getting our apps until we got our main course was too long. We had a group of 6 adults and 1 child and the restaurant was not very busy, although they were hosting some kind of catered/banquet event in the back room. May try them again one day but not overly excited to get there any time soon.

Food is delicious. But unfortunately, a restaurant is also about customer service. Apparently the waitress believed she deserved more of a tip than what I had given her. My debit card was actually charged $ 5 more than what it should’ve.(I’m so glad I keep all my customer receipts, make sure you keep them too) I went back a few days later, and they took out the original merchant receipt I had signed, and the tip section was actually filled in!(FYI, I had crossed out the tip section because I had left cash on the table, she wrote on top of the line $ 5.00) I’m lucky I work at the bank and constantly review my account history. I wonder how many people they’ve done this to.

This was my first visit to this restaurant and needless to say, myself and my fiances family ended up walking out. We were in process of ordering and they could not bend their menu to fit my fiances specialty diet. Not to mention, they wanted to charge up to $ 1.50 extra for double order of mixed vegetables with their fried chicken entrée and $ 1.00 extra for the baked potato! The waitress tried to fix it with the manager and came back saying that they can allow a spaghetti and marinara dish at the same price as their chicken parmesan dish for $ 10. How hard is it to make a simple spaghetti dish with vegetables mixed in for a slightly lower cost?! The fact that the management could not bend the menu to fit my fiances medical diet and charging up to $ 1.50 for extra items made me and the rest of us turn tail out of here. If these guys want to be better, they need to bend the rules to accommodate EVERYONE and not jus their regular clients. Until I see this, I will never come back and it is sad to say because I have heard so many great things for this place.
