Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center

I was very hesitant about getting LASIK, but so glad I did it at the Mann Eye Institute in SugarLand. Everything was perfect– From my first consultation to my LASIK surgery, and even the post-​surgery appointments. They are so caring and make you feel comfortable. Thank you Dr. Wright and staff for doing such an amazing job! :-)

I have been a patient of Dr. Brian Wright and his team of professionals at the Sugar Land location for nearly a year now. Without any hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Wright for eye care. My entire experience with this location has been positive. They have handled my problems in a timely, compassionate, and sensitive manner. Each staff member that I have interacted with has reassured me with their professionalism, warmth, and sensitivity to my concerns. Dr. Wright is the best!

Staff was friendly and courteous. Receptionist was kind enough to patiently answer all my insurance questions and explained my coverage. Once in examination room staff made me feel right at home. Doctor was polite, caring, and answered all my questions. Office manager was nice enough to check on me and made sure everything went okay. Great experience, highly recommend.

The front desk and the tech were friendly but the doctors just seem to want to rush you out of the office and don’t care about your issue. They diagnose everything as dry eye and give you drops that don’t help. I finally went somewhere else and they were able to properly diagnose me… it was not dry eye.

Came in to this office today for an issue with my right eye. I’m an avid Unilocaler, so I took a stab in the dark for providers based on my insurance and they had the best reviews! I can defiantly see why because I had such a great experience with this location! The receptionist was very nice and welcoming, the lady that took me in the back was very thorough and took the time to answer my questions. Dr. Patel was super nice and very informative. He eased my concerns and I left with a better understanding on what I needed to do on my end to assist my recovery. Customer service is very important to me so I will definitely be back to this location!

As the optical director for Mann Eye, I see the inner workings of each office and I have to say that the Sugar Land team was a true example of teamwork today. What an awesome day we had! The entire staff worked as an amazing team to pull off a very successful Maui Jim trunk show today! Thanks for all your hard work. I had so much fun working with you guys! ! Dr. Janes and Dr. Patel are great! Everyone is very friendly, helpful and accommodating! The office is always clean and comfortable to be in.

Aweosme job! Just did the LASIK procedure with Dr. Wright and his staff. They were very nice and eased any tension I had. They explained everything and I felt very comfortable with them. The difference between them an Berkeley which I also consulted with was that Mann eye gave me a full work up. I felt more confident with them and they were close to home! I recommend them to anyone!

Today was my first visit to Mann Eye in Sugar Land. The parking garage is free and a short trip up the elevators is where you will find the office. The receptionist was friendly as well as Dr. Patel and the assistant who scanned my eyes (unfortunately I forgot her name, but she was lovely). They were more than willing to answer any questions. I left feeling well informed and confident about lasik. Jeremy thoroughly explained financing and options after my exam. Overall a great experience and I can’t wait to have the procedure.

After being almost blind for the majority of my life (Left eye= –8, Right eye= –7.5), I never thought I would say this but I have PERFECT VISION!!!
I was always hesitant to have Lasik done, and now I honestly don’t know what I was afraid of. I am however happy that I waited until I found not only the right doctor, but also an office that has the latest in Lasik technology. Because of this, my surgery and recovery were both quick and absolutely painless, without any of the side effects I’ve heard others complain about. I would recommend Dr. Wright to any of my friends and family. Dr. Janes and the staff were also as friendly and professional as can be. I am beyond happy with my experience and results!

I have nothing but great things to say about Mann Eye. Everything was easy and they were very happy to answer any questions i had. My doctor (DR. Brian Wright) and laser specialist did a great job with talking me through the entire Lasik procedure.

I had made in appointment with the optometrist Dr. Janes to get my new prescription. The front desk staff and everyone else was very friendly. I went in for the exam and a lady started doing my whole eye exam. After about 15 – 20 minutes of the exam I asked her who she was and informed her that my appointment was with Dr. Janes. She stated she is the Medical assistant for Dr. Janes and he will see me after she is finished with my eye exam. She proceeded to fully examine my eyes as though she was the optometrist. She spent close to 25 – 30 minutes examining my eyes. After she finished she informed me that my number has not changed much and was pretty close to my previous number. I was shocked that my eye exam was fully done by the MA instead of the optometrist.
After about 5 minutes and Dr. Janes came to see me. I asked him why my exam was fully performed by a MA instead of him. He stated he is a part of a medical group and this is the «model» that works for their practice. He then stated that he will check my eyes to make sure the prescription that the MA had stated was correct. He spent all of 4 – 5 minutes checking my eyes and informed me what my prescription was.
I have been going to optometrists for years and this is the first time that my full eye exam was done by the MA instead of the optometrist. I still have not figured out if Dr. Janes is incompetent, lazy or just idiotic to have his patients fully examined by a MA. I do not agree with his «MODEL» and if I was warned my eyes would have been checked by a medical assistant rather than a optometrist would have gladly taken by business elsewhere. Please be warned that if you are planning to see Dr. Janes, he will spend approx 4 – 5 minutes checking your eyes and all other work will be done by his medical assistant.

This office is amazing. I cannot say enough about them.
Starting with my consultation: As soon as I arrived, I felt good about it. I was taken back for normal testing after about 10 minutes. I asked several questions and all of them were answered in depth. I was not rushed at all. Everyone was very patient and nice.
I was lucky enough that Dr Wright was in the office on the day of my consultation. It was nice to meet him and his surgical staff and know who was going to be taking care of my and performing my procedure. He answered all of my questions and made me feel so much more at ease. I was a total nut case. People have been telling me to get lasik for about 10 years now and I have always been too scared. I felt much better after my consultation.
I was given 2 prescriptions and directions to follow the day before the procedure, as well as after the procedure.
The day before, I had to use antibiotic drops 3 times. The only negative was that occasionally I could taste it. Like swallowing perfume, yuck.
The day of the procedure: I arrived at 1:02pm. I signed my paperwork and was called to the back. The same test was done that was done the day of my consultation. I was given Ibuprofen and Valium. I then went to the exam room to see Dr. Janes. He checked my prescription again and answered all of my questions. I then went to the secondary waiting room for surgery prep. She put a «hair net» type of thing on me and cleaned my face along with some drops. She really took the time to explain everything to me as far as the procedure. Every step.
I was then taken into the LASIK suite. It’s very cold and the lights are dim. I laid down on the bed and they immediately put numbing drops in my eyes. Everything went VERY quickly. They swiveled the bed under one of the machines and all I could see was very bright, LED looking, lights. Dr Wright covered my left eye with a black patch and put a plastic circle over my right eye. Because I didn’t have any glasses or contacts, this was all a blur. I felt quite a bit of pressure for about 25 seconds or so and it was over. Then he did the same to my left eye. The nurse put drops in my eyes multiple times throughout the time of my procedure. I was then moved under the other machine. Again, one eye was covered while the other was being operated on. Dr Wright explained what he was doing, (putting something to hold my eye open, drops, etc.). He Just told me to focus on the green light. There was a small green light in the middle and red fuzzy lights around it. I just stared straight at it. I started to smell burning which was odd to me. After about 30 seconds my right was done and they had moved on to the left eye. After they were done I asked about the bad smell and they explained it was just the laser. More drops were added to both eyes and I was done. They helped me up and I walked into the exam area across the hall. Dr. Wright took a look at my eyes, the nurse taped some plastic protectors around my eyes and we left. I got into the parking garage and my husband asked me if I could see. So I looked at my phone and saw that it was 1:43pm. SO CRAZY!!! Crazy that I could see and even more crazy that it only took such a short time!
It wasn’t clear vision by any means. I could see, but it was definitely fuzzy or hazy. Everyone had told me to go home and go straight to sleep to avoid any discomfort for the next few hours. I came home and took 2 benadryl. I was only able to sleep about 30 minutes and loud noises woke me up. It was VERY uncomfortable when I woke up. I felt like I had an eyelash or something in both eyes and I was afraid to open them. I had my husband put wetting drops in to see if it would help, which it did, a little bit. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to go back to sleep, so I took some pain medicine to help me feel better and hopefully take a nap. It helped! I woke up at 6:30pm with no pain or discomfort at all. I could see pretty good too. Still a little hazy and light sensitive, but that’s to be expected.
It’s now been almost 3 weeks and I am just amazed at the fact that i do not need to put in contacts or wear glasses to be able to type this review! IT WAS SO PAINLESS AND EASY. I don’t know what I was even scared for. Seriously, the best decision I have ever made.
Mann Eye in Sugar Land ROCKS!

If you are considering LASIK, I highly recommend Mann Eye Institute! I had my LASIK procedure done recently. All I can say is Wow! I can see! At my intiial consultation, every question was answered; the amazing and friendly staff made me feel comfortable. Hint: the staff is awesome! From the moment that I walked into the door until I left, everyone that I came in contact with was extremely kind and very helpful. Needless to say, I was well informed prior to the procedure. On the day of the surgery, I was excited and ready to throw away my contacts and glasses; however, just as I was about to go into the LASIK suite, I began to get a little nervous. Once they brought me in, Dr. Wright and the staff gave me a blanket because I was cold and teddy bear to hold. Then, in the background, they played realxing music to help calm the atmosphere making me feel as relaxed as possible — it is the eyes you know! Throughout the entire procedure, Dr. Wright was talking with me and informing me of exactly what he was doing; this made me feel safe and confident that I was being well taken care of. As I was laying there it didn’t seem like 5 minutes and the procedure was over. A few words to explain my experience in the LASIK suite include efficient, smooth, and accurate. Everyone always tells me that they do not want LASIK due to the fear of pain or discomfort. I always get the notorious question «did it hurt?». The answer is «NO! There is absolutely no pain». I was sick and tired of having dry itchy eyes from wearing contacts. I felt that I didn’t have a face for glasses; however, now, this is the least of my concerns. I am glasses and contacts free! Having this procedcure has completely changed my life. I am enjoying every morning tht I can wake up without having to put in contacts or reach for my glasses. I am looking at the world through a brand new set of eyes!

I came here for the first time on the day my mom got her lasik surgery. By the way all the staff was talking to my mother it seemed as if they had known each other for years. I forgot the name of the staff member but she stood by me the entire time my mom was getting her procedure. There was a window where I could watch and see the details of the procedure on a television screen. The kind staff member explained each step to me as it was done.
After seeing their hands on customer service I began to use Dr. Janes as my optometrist. He and another staff member that works with him were kind enough to explain why and how my contacts work rather than slapping some contacts on me and calling it a day as my previous optometrist would have done. I am very pleased with their service and their explanations that I even had my father and brother start using Dr. Janes, which I obviously highly recommend.

Picture this, Me, the self-​proclaimed serial procrastinator, waiting until the last day of open enrollment to choose a Lasik provider. Enter Mann Eye Institute. After hearing the radio ads and reading the reviews online I decided to give them a call and see if they could *pretty please* squeeze me in, like, TODAY. Lucky for me, they did.
From the first phone call to the complimentary consultation, I was always met with kindness and a smile. Dr. Janes quick examination went as smooth as buttah and Jennifer’s thorough A to Z explanations of everything from the actual procedure to my financing options left me comfortably informed and ready to sign on the dotted line.
Fast forward to the day of my procedure (yesterday). Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist who very sweetly and enthusiastically asked me if I was ready for what was to be a life changing procedure. Still feeling a bit uneasy about lasers + eyeballs + me, I nervously answer «Yes!» and proceed to devour 3 dumdums in the waiting room while anxiously awaiting my turn.
After what seemed like an eternity (but was really only 10 minutes or so) my name is called, the last few pre examinations are done, and swiftly we move along. Seated in a comfy recliner, I am fitted with a lovely blue hair cap, a plethora of eye drops are administered and I meet the very personable Dr. Wright, who introduces himself and confidently reassures me that we are fully locked, loaded and ready to kick some serious near-​sighted you-​know-​what.
Now, for the fun part. Finally feeling relaxed (and a little clumsy) from the valium, I am ushered into the OR and we begin. I lay down on the table/​bed/​chair thing, more drops are given, and here we go. Laser # 1, pressure, swivel, laser #2, pretty lights. Repeat. And that’s it, folks! Dr. Wright and company were so great about talking me through the entire process that; honestly, it felt like it was over before it even began.
After the procedure, I was fitted with my «superhero eye shields» and sent home to sleep it off. Over the course of the next 24 hours I barely felt a thing. From time to time it felt like I had an eyelash stuck in my eye or something, but it was nothing a few eye drops couldn’t fix. No pain, no redness — no nothin’!
As for the results; it’s the next day, I’ve just had my follow up appointment, and guess what? I have ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision! Coming from someone who’s had «four-​eyes» since the 3^rd grade — let me tell you — IT IS AMAZING! From street signs to shampoo bottles, I get giddy like a little schoolgirl just reading stuff. When people say it’s «the best money they’ve ever spent» — it’s not an exaggeration.
So, if you’re on the fence about getting Lasik done — let me assure you — it is literally one of the best decisions you will EVER make and the Mann Eye Institute is THE place to go!

I had my LASIK done at the Sugarland office and it was amazing. Everyone at the office was friendly and comforting from the very beginning. I have not stop talking about them to my friends and family about their service. I recommend this office to anyone who is even thinking about getting LASIK. Dr. Wright is awesome (besides being an aggie) and the whole staff has become like friends through this experience.

I made an appointment with Mann Eye Institute for a routine eye exam for two reasons. The first being the «great» reputation and the second being they are a preferred provider on my vision insurance.
Upon arrival I was promptly greeted and asked to complete some paper work and asked about my insurance. The lady advised me of my copay and charges for contac lens fitting. I then advised her that the contac lens fitting was covered by my insurance and she argued with me so I just let it go.
Durign the exam I asked for the disposable lenses that you leavve in for a month. The «optical technician» advised me that you should not leave anything in your eye for a month and the hazards related to doing such. I advised him that someone makes them and I know people that use them and I wanted them! In the end I still did not get what I wanted.
After I arrived home I looked at my insurance coverage and I was correct, my lens fitting was covered. I called them promptly the next day to advise them of the issue and was told that I would have to wait 3 to 6 weeks for a refund if one was due! WTF, 3 to 6 weeks? This is my money that you are effing with! I called back later to discuss further and was transferred to the billing department where I had to leave a message. I still have not received a return phone call!
Go to Sam’s Club or Target or TSO…

So I didn’t get my LASIK done by Mann Eye but with Diagnostic Eye Center. They use the same facility to do the procedures which is why the price is probably lower. This location is in the middle of the town center on the second floor so who ever takes you to have the procedure done has plenty of things to do if they don’t want to actually watch the procedure (which they can if they want). It has a modern look and everything looks very new and clean. The machines that did my procedure are the newest technology with the intra-​lace and wave. Wi-​fi is also available for people waiting. Whole prcedure was less than an hour. Place was easy to get to and top notch.
