Craig Popp became the owner of First Tire & Automotive in 1997 when he purchased the First Colony location. With a background in automotive parts and supplies, and a Management degree from Texas A&M University, Craig has continued to expand First Tire & Automotive to three stores, serving greater Fort Bend County.

Craig Popp became the owner of First Tire & Automotive in 1997 when he purchased the First Colony location. With a background in automotive parts and supplies, and a Management degree from Texas A&M University, Craig has continued to expand First Tire & Automotive to three stores, serving greater Fort Bend County.

He has committed his business to supporting local organizations and charities, some of which include the Sugar Land Exchange Club, The ARC of Fort Bend County, St. Laurence Parish and numerous sports teams and organizations in the area. Craig’s wife Nancy is actively involved in the business operations. They have two children, Elizabeth and Jonathan who attend St. Laurence Parish School. In his spare time, Craig enjoys fishing in Matagorda Bay.

My wife and I have been customers of First Tire and Auto before we even had children. Now we are what you would call generational customers since all of our children are adults and bring their own cars to First Tire for any repair work and/​or routine maintenance. Everyone in my Is in agreement that you can count on First Tire to do the right thing and do it well.

I needed an oil change and a state inspection. I called on Saturday to see if they had any openings (I work Mon-​Fri 8 to 5) and they didn’t for Saturday, but they said I could drop it off on Monday morning and because I work close by they could take me to work.
I arrived on Monday morning and they were very friendly. I didn’t realize I had to have my insurance switched over to TX before the inspection. They said if I could get it switched and have the insurance company fax over the proof, then they would perform the inspection. Everything worked out and the inspection was performed.
I got a call mid-​day with things that they found that needed to be corrected, including a loose oil cap (missing a gasket). They were able to replace the oil cap for me. They also asked if I would need a ride from work to pick up the truck — I didn’t, but it was very nice of them to offer a ride to and from work.
Overall: Great Service, Friendly Staff, and Priced Well. I will be back to First Tire and Automotive (maybe a different location due to the one on Eldridge being closer to my house).

My 2014 Subaru Forester needed 4 new tires. 40K miles was all I got out of the dealer set. 90 minutes to wait, and the car rides & handles like new – actually better than it was new, I think. Quieter, smoother. Guys on the phone and in the lobby were prompt, courteous and explained my options clearly. I will be returning.

It’s a shop that you can trust. I’m a picky guy, and I’ll say they do quality job. There was one occasion when dealer told me to replace the whole steering rack for $ 3000, and First Tire & Auto fixed it by simply reclocking my steering wheel for only $ 90~$ 100.

I liked this place because I felt like they didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need. They didn’t tell me I needed matching tires when I didn’t. I recommend this place because they are honest and quick as long as they have an open schedule

I was recommended to get my car serviced here by my fiancé.
I brought my car in for the place to fix my alignment. It was a $ 90 job, which is more than I’ve been quoted elsewhere, but I let them do it because I didn’t have time to shop around.
The gentleman was straight forward about the cost and time for the service. He wasn’t the most welcoming, but I guess most car places aren’t’.
They finished the service in time. I was able to wait at the shop and do work. They have wi-​fi and TV and couches and desks for you to occupy your wait time.
Less one star for the cost and less one more star for the poor welcoming.

There aren’t very many authorized vehicle inspection stations in Sugar Land, but luckily First Tire & Automotive is one of them. I was in and out the door under 45 minutes when I came to have my car’s inspection renewed. Their waiting area is clean, spacious and comfortable with a TV and plenty of magazines to keep you entertained. Service was friendly, and I wouldn’t think twice about coming here again.
