Great hibachi, only one table that seats 6 so if you have a larger party you won’t fit. We had a party of four and all ordered different proteins for our dinners. Every single one was cooked perfectly from the shrimp to the steak to the scallops to the chicken. Great fried rice and veggies as well. My kids didn’t really like the miso broth or the dressing on the salad (citrus/ginger) but they were great as well.
We will be back for sushi as the platters kept going out in front of us and it all looked amazing.

Started making ramen recently and let me just say, they make only one flavor but, the broth is just so authentic and has such a depth of flavor you would think you are in Hokkaido.
Just the best I have had in a very long time and I look for it everywhere.

This place is the best sushi I have ever found in the east coast. Prices are very affordable. Service is amazing and a family environment. Everytime we go to see my in laws we stop and eat there. Excellent place!

We’ve been to Koi two times thus far. On both visits, someone in our party got sick. The first time, it was my daughter who had the chicken hibachi. The second time, my brother and I had some kind of sushi and we both got sick. It’s a shame because we received good service both times and also enjoyed the variety of sushi rolls (hence the two stars). My in-laws live in Suffolk so we always bring up Koi as a place to go. However, after I read a few reviews regarding the cleanliness of the restaurant and the quality of the food, we will not be giving this place another try.

One of Suffolk’s best kept secrets. We go to Koi regularly and have for the past years. The food is always fresh and tastes great. Tonight is no different than the norm, our food was amazing and service was great as well. Kicked off the night with a saki bomb. For dinner I ordered chicken hibachi. Chicken is tender and seasoned well, the veggies are crispy and cooked to perfection, and the fried rice is a perfect blend of rice, vegetables, eggs, and seasoning. Kuddos to Mrs. Carol and the Koi staff!!!

Such a great atmosphere! The waitstaff is great, so many different personalities that can hold a nice conversation with. The girl who served us was very knowledgeable of their menu and recommended tons of stuff from a small list of what we like. The menu choices are great too, one of the few places i know who offer bento/dinner boxes and serve such large portions for a great price. If i had to compare them to other sushi restaurants, they’re much cheaper and still serve great food. The sushi chefs love having conversations with the customers who sit at the bar, its like an scene from a movie! I come every once and a while but the staff were still able to remember who i was and even gifted us a roll! Not to mention the sushi is extraordinary, it seems like the chefs knows what flavors to put together in their special rolls. Definitely a place i would recommend to anyone in the area, i even know people who travel from the beach to eat here. I suggest ordering sake when eating the sushi, its a great combo.

We go to Koi all the time. I love their lunch boxes. The volcano roll is also really yummy. The wait staff is very friendly and the service is quick. The prices are reasonable, and the great quality keeps us coming back. Mom buys their ginger salad dressing in bulk because she likes it so much, but it’s not my personal favorite. I like ginger dressing with a little more zing, but mom likes Koi’s ginger dressing because it is a bit smoother and creamier. I did like their miso a lot — lots of seaweed and tofu just like it should be! Overall, we always look forward to eating at koi, and I know we will be coming back in the future.

My FAVORITE sushi place ever. Staff is always super friendly and I haven’t ever had a roll I didn’t like. The Mango Passion and Dinosaur rolls are my favorite of the specialty rolls.

I went for lunch last week and had two special rolls: The caterpillar and the tiger roll. I also saw a sign that said that they had uni, so I ordered an uni sushi. The salmon melted in my mouth! The tiger shrimp in this roll were exquisite… Very fresh, yummy! The spicy tuna in the caterpillar roll was very red, beautiful color. Also, it had great texture and flavor combination with the crunch and the avocado. The uni was good but didn’t blow my mind. My son had a kid’s meal and he loved their noodles. I ate the gyoza, since he didn’t want it, it was very good. He didn’t care for the chicken tempura though. But in there defense he barely eats meat or chicken, his diet is mostly vegetarian. They serve it with half of an orange and he wanted more. I told our waitress and she didn’t hesitate to bring him piece. The service was excellent. I will definitely be back and recommend it for sushi (since it’s all I’ve had so far).

There are quite a bit of sushi restaurants around Norfolk/VA beach and I would have to say hands down Koi is the best. I’ve been there about 10 times or so in the past year and the sashimi has always been very fresh. You can actually appreciate the nuisances in taste. I would skip the regular tuna and instead go for some salmon, yellowtail and white tuna. The rolls are pretty decent, but I have not tried the hibachi. The service is friendly and the few friends/family I have taken here have all thoroughly enjoyed it. In the end, sushi isn’t generally very cheap. It’s hard to find a place that justifies not simply going to a sushi buffet instead, but Koi is a place I will go to (and the pricing is pretty average).

Just realized another thing I love about this place: there is a legend in the menu that notes when rolls are cooked © or uncooked (u), which makes it especially helpful when you’re pregnant. I also want to say I think a lot of these reviews are for a different restaurant or location because this particular Koi always has awesome food and service so I don’t know what the hell everyone is talking about. And they always bring out a veggie dish and a little treat for our 2 year old daughter when we bring her. Fantastic sushi and service.

My wife and I eat sushi all the time. We drive 20 minutes out of the way to eat here. The food is always delicious and the staff is very friendly. Don’t give a low score because you didn’t like a staff member’s personality. We order from there at least once a month and for years, never had ONE problem with either food or staff.

I only rate on the service and the attitude of the waiter as I did not stay long enough to actually eat. My son and I arrived at Koi at about 2pm on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We stand at the front waiting to be helped for about 5 minutes. The place is empty so at this point I’m not sure what the hold-up was. When a person finally arrives she says NOTHING just motions his head in the direction of a table and sort of grunts. So we walk over to the table which is filthy, asked to have it cleaned which was a no-go. He flops the menus down and at this point I had had about enough of this guys poor attitude so we kindly slip out of our still dirty booth and head over to another sushi place for lunch. Because the service was so blatantly bad I will never step foot in Koi again.
