It seriously doesn’t get any better than Charlie and his associates from Charles J. Ward Sales Inc. They just finished a 2-​day job replacing our Bedroom and Living Room windows and creating a pair of wonderful French screen doors leading out to our patio. Super friendly, down to earth, clean, conscientious and amazing workmanship. We are 100% completely satisfied!!! (As for the complaining ‘texting’ lady below, yea, put down your phone when you’re dealing with another human being standing right in front of you. Basic human respect.)

Extra high prices and terrible attitude, why go anywhere else?
Terribly rude woman running the place, yelled at me and called me unpleasant names when I came in to pick up a part for my screen door, because I was texting when she walked into the front room.
When I spoke to Charlie about it (the owner) I was informed that the woman was his wife and all sorts of rude customers come in there and give her a hard time seemingly on a daily basis, maybe they should keep the front door locked to keep us out?
Then Charlie told me it was probably my fault for texting in front of her and that clearly I was aggressive and hostile, then told me to «Go away» Who wouldn’t rush back for more?
Sorry Charlie, I’m already gone. maybe you should read some of the other Unilocal reviews where people have had similar experiences.
It’s a shame to see a small, locally owned business alienating customers like this. I will find someplace that seems like they want my business next time.

My initial inquiry took a few days to be followed up on but I was contacted by a salesperson who promised me a general ballpark estimate vs. an actual proposal and just so we would have an idea before moving forward.
I was not contacted for more than a week so I phoned back and explained the discussion I had with the sales person to the person who answered the phone (who I believe is the office manager). She was incredibly rude and unhelpful — did dot listen and at times was even quite difficult to understand.
Sorry Charley… plenty of other places will be happy to take my $
I suggest you have an attitude adjustment with the office manager or find a more pleasant and customer oriented person to answer your phones.

Horrible experience with these people. The wife is the «customer service» person, a misnomer if I’ve ever heard one.
Rudeness is an understatement. She’s rude, snide and very difficult to deal with. Poor communication skills and has a very selective memory when discussing what was said and not said during the transaction and the poor outcome.
Husband Charles seemed nice but I was surprised and a bit alarmed when he told me the old screen I had brought in to have duplicated had a part «he’s never seen before». In business for years (as the wife tells me repeatedly on a number of occasions during this ordeal) yet has never seen this before?
As he inspected my old screen the wife is hovering over us. We pay a 50% deposit and are told to pick up the new screen in several days. I told her we had more screens that needed re-​screening including a sliding screen door. I asked if they did house calls. She told us it was $ 85 just for Charles to show up at your house plus the charges for whatever it is you need done. She suggested we bring the screen door in attached to the roof of the car. Huh?
I come to pick up the new screen and as I requested there are tension springs on the side. The wife, who was present when I discussed the order with Charles claimed I never asked for the springs and forgot to charge me. She insisted I never requested the springs yet they were on there, so Charles obviously heard my request but the wife claims I never asked for them. Charles was not there when I picked up the screen. Very Kafkaesque.
I paid the balance, took the screen home and it’s too small and doesn’t fit snugly into the window frame channel, just loosely sits there and can be pushed in or pulled out with my pinky. I brought the screen back and told the wife it was about ¾ inch too narrow. More rudeness from the mrs. and obviously in her world the customer is never right.
I went back home and measured the exact opening, called the shop and told the wife the exact measurements. During the conversation she was true to form rude, repeated that they’ve been in business for years and kept asking me what that piece was that Charles had never seen before in his eons in business. She asked me 3 times and each time I told her I’m not in the screen business. Weird. The pro who’s been making screens since the dawn of time was asking me about screens!!! She told me to pick the screen up the following week and then actually told me to never use their services again. Really!
I go in to pick the screen up the following week and both Charles and his charming wife aren’t there. A young guy was there, very nice, but he couldn’t find my screen. He calls the mrs. and she claims it’s there. I told him that the wife is really rude and he says that yes, she can be hard to deal with at times. This confirms everything I believe. I leave, no screen in hand.
I show up the next day. The wife is there alone. She finds my screen. I asked her if they made it wider (it looked identical to when I brought it back) and she says yes and that Charles didn’t want to do it but did it anyway, implying that he/​they are real martyrs. She had me pay for the springs that I supposedly never requested but were on there (mind-​readers or poor listeners?). She actually told me that in her years, decades, centuries that they’ve been in business that she’s never had a customer as difficult as me. I merely said «thank you» to that bit of nonsense.
I took the screen home and exactly as I suspected it pushed in loosely as before. They did nothing to it after I brought it back to them. I bought some packages of tension springs and jerry-​rigged them on the opposite side and now the screen fits nice and firmly in place.
I guess that now makes me officially in the screen business.
Seriously, it’s an awful place. We finally called Screen Mobile, a company that comes to your house with a truck and a trailer that is set up like a workshop with all the materials and tools onboard. The guy was super friendly, knew his stuff and re-​screened the sliding patio door and a few other screens, all in about 45 minutes. Oh, and his price for re-​screening the patio door was less than the in-​person charge that wife told me Charles charges just for showing up!

Last week I locked myself out of the house and went in through a doggy door. Needless to say I bent it and had no idea how to repair/​replace. Too expensive to replace and didn’t know what/​where to get it fixed.
A light bulb went off and I took it into Charles J Ward on the hunch that they might be able to help direct me. Sure enough, he quietly took the door in the back of the shop, a few minutes later, returned it just like new. They were so nice and personable and in the end didn’t even charge me.
I like being able to shop locally and support smaller shops and stores. (Though I didn’t pay for this service) I would highly recommend this company.

Just hired Charles Ward to install windows throughout our house, and we couldn’t be happier. We had great service, and our windows are amazing quality. We got 5 quotes, and not only was Charles Ward the cheapest, he is professional, and very knowledgeable.
