I had a mold scare last summer when a mold inspector discovered a small patch of growth on my subfloor in the crawlspace due to a combination of a leaking sprinkler system and poor crawl space ventilation.
I did lots of internet searching and reading reviews before i picked 3 different companies to come and give me estimates. I decided to go with Absolute because unlike most other companies, they do removal and restoration which makes it so much easier and saves so much more time and money. they were definitely the most reasonable in pricing for the work they were going to perform.
i also really liked cameron because first, it’s nice to know that you are talking and doing business directly with the owner (i am a small business owner myself so i know no one cares the same way an owner cares), and second, he’s a no BS kind of guy. He says it like it is and is very straight forward and i like that. The other two companies made it seem like the problem i had was the end of the world and they were going to do all this tearing up my house which seemed really unneccessary to me. Cameron on the other hand, was able to do the job without all the unnecessary BS the other companies wanted me to do and the restoration work is unbelievable, you can’t even tell i had work done there! and turns out all this mold scare that the other companies tried to have me believe wasn’t even mold at all… it was just a little algae growth and cameron called that out. These guys aren’t here to milk you for your money. They are here to run a good business and do a good job.
i’d like to add that the team that came and did the work were super nice and took the time to tell me everything and to talk me through everything. they were wonderful! I would definitely recommend Absolute and I would absolutely use them again in the future if anything arises!

THEY LEFT A DRY-​ROTTED THRESHOLD in place, and it still leaks! My HOA Board hired them to fix a leaky balcony issue in my unit in February 2012, and IT STILL LEAKS. They said they «did what they were hired to do,» yet when it didn’t fix the leak they just dusted off their hands and walked away. How can you call yourself a leak and water damage repair expert if the area still leaks after you repaired it? They didn’t even do a leak test after they finished the work — the leak was re-​discovered when it rained 2 months later. Oh, and did I mention they left a dry-​rotted threshold in place? It stated right on the front page of their contract (which I didn’t see until way later) that the «threshold was severely water-​damaged,» and yet they just water-​proofed right over it instead of replacing it. When I left my original Unilocal review a couple months after they did the work, they made me take it down before they would return and replace the threshold and address the problem. So I removed my review and called them to come back out, only to have Cameron (the owner, I believe) turn around and say he never agreed to do the job. Do the job? You mean repair the shoddy work you did in the first place? What terrible customer service, not to mention that he was extremely rude every time I had contact with him. I didn’t technically hire him — the HOA Board did — but I paid a huge chunk of the bill, and it’s MY HOUSE that is still leaking. The neighbors downstairs had to replace their kitchen due to mold issues resulting from the leak, too. Absolute’s website actually says «We seal leaks and we get it right the first time.» I had to laugh when I read that! Then why do I still have a leak? And a dry-​rotted threshold? It also says «We’ve literally never met a problem we couldn’t solve. When there’s a problem in your home, we understand you need it fixed NOW.» Um, yeah, mine was supposedly fixed in February 2012 and still leaks in October 2014, so thanks for fixing that leak. (Side note: we have now hired a new company to fix the leak, at an additional cost of several thousand dollars after paying Absolute over $ 9000 the first time.) Do not hire this company. They do not stand by their work — even when they say they will fix the problem they didn’t fix the first time!
(In response to Bryan from Absolute’s rebuttal — which is chalk full of lies):
Bryan — you were very nice when you came to do a follow up inspection, and you actually admitted the threshold was dry rotted and should have been replaced. Cameron later admitted the same, but did not follow through with his promise to replace the threshold and fix the problem — and I have witnesses to how rude he was to me. My assistant heard the entire conversation!
As you can see by the photos I attached, the threshold was not only dry-​rotted but also covering up the source of the leak your company was hired to repair. My HOA Board hired you — I already said that — but it is MY HOME you left leaking and in disrepair. You are a leak detection and repair specialist that left a dry-​rotted threshold in place, covering the leak source. When Cameron was informed it STILL LEAKED, he first agreed to help resolve the problem and then said he never committed to it. You also have two listings on Unilocal for some reason. The other one has reviews very similar to mine, which is 100% honest. Instead of fighting bad reviews, you should fight to not get them in the first place by being accountable for your work. If you’re hired to fix a leak and it STILL LEAKS when you are done, you didn’t do your job. PERIOD.
Also, my HOA Board is definitely NOT happy with your work since they are now paying for it to be re-​done, and I am not a huge fan of the way they have handled this situation, either. They should have held your company accountable. You also did not come inspect my doors last week nor did a 3^rd party collect an inspection fee from me — it was your worker Jaime. I did receive the refund, which is why I didn’t mention it in my review. When you and Cameron inspected the threshold/​doors over a year ago or even two years ago, you both admitted the threshold should have been replaced. So, no, you did not fix the issues you state you would have if there were any. I am done trying to get you to admit your wrongs. The photos speak for themselves. You were hired to fix a leak, and you did not. You also did not replace the dry rotted threshold you identified IN WRITING. Those, sir, are the facts.

I had a horrid smell coming from somewhere in my home, but since I haven’t lived here for long, and the one-​story house is small, I wasn’t sure where to start looking for the source. I asked a couple people who claimed they would figure it out so I could then contact the appropriate company to fix the issue. Nobody could figure out the issue. Finally, I called a company to come out for inspection and/​or leak detection, because nobody knew what the problem was. I spoke with a couple companies about coming out to fix the issue, but their quotes were outrageous and they seemed so corporate and unfriendly. I stumbled upon Absolute maintenance and Consulting by default, but was so pleasantly surprised after speaking with Cameron. He was friendly, yet professional and the service was prompt.
The team was quick to come out and inspect my home, figuring out within the first ten minutes what the problem was and where it was rooted. Turns out I had a small leak in a pipe that was stemmed from my garbage disposal. Since the small leak had been existing for a while, there was water accumulating beneath my home. Due to this issue, another problem arose. The team did some mold inspection, and sure enough it was everywhere and mold removal was necessary. They found the problem fast, worked professionally, were very nonintrusive in my home (to the best of their ability), and i felt they provided high quality work. Another note, Cameron and his staff were very knowledgeable and even helped give me advice for other issues in my home.
Overall, great experience. Good prices, great quality, professional and quick team. I’d recommend anytime!

After seeing their reviews on Angie’s List, I chose to have Absolute do mold remediation on my house. Being a new homeowner, I didn’t want just anyone to do this since I knew it would be a pretty big deal. So glad I chose them, I highly recommend them to anyone who really cares about their home!

We hired Absolute Maintenance and Consulting to perform some repairs on our deck and update the waterproofing in our basement for our rental property in Long Beach. Since the initial consultation with Cameron and our project being fully complete I am fully impressed with their customer service. I am truly grateful how Cameron listened to my needs and was very considerate of my budget. The crew was extremely friendly and courteous while maintaining the professionalism to finish the job in a timely and efficient manner. I was extremely happy with the finished product and would recommend calling Absolute Maintenance and Consulting if you ever have any issues with waterproofing, mold remediation and deck repairs.

I am the president of an HOA in Santa Monica for an 8-​unit condominium complex. I’m also an attorney with 35 years litigation experience (including construction defect litigation) and a longtime homeowner with significant construction experience (have built two houses-​one an architectural award winner featured in L.A. Magazine-​and have remodeled two homes). I was the point person with Cameron’s company for the $ 15,000 water remediation project at our property. Initially, the project started out great. Cameron told me he had put a very good crew on the job and that they were motivated because they were in a competition with another crew to work on a big movie star’s house. An employee named Brian, seemed to be the one worker on the job who was knowledgeable, had good ideas and vision, was easy to communicate with, and was eager to get to the job early and do a good job. He was the reason things were going so well, and we got along great. For reasons never explained, Brian was moved to another job after two days. At that point the «foreman», Jaime (who spoke very little English) was the crew boss. Work started later in the day, progress slowed down, and mistakes were made, all of which necessitated my becoming more involved in supervising, trying to communicate with the workers, and ultimately having to call Cameron to complain. Cameron brought Brian back onto the job and things appeared to get back on track, but again, for unknown reasons, Brian was moved to another job the next day (and was never brought back despite my requests to have him back on the job). The next morning, as the workers (including Jaime) were doing a concrete pour that was to have been done in two separate sections (to allow access to underground sprinkler pipes) but were mistakenly doing it in one section, I called Cameron very upset that poor communication and lack of supervision were still leading to mistakes, he went ballistic, stating, «this is why I hate working for condominiums,» and accusing me of being unappreciative that his guys are «busting their balls out there for you.» I responded that I did not appreciate having to be so involved in supervision, reminding him that I am the customer, not his crew’s supervisor, and that all the problems were caused by his changing the personnel on the job from day to day with no continuity. The next day, he sent his «partner, «Miguel“to the job. Miguel is very polite, knowledgeable and professional and wanted to get things on the right track. We had a good meeting but that afternoon he was sent to another job. The next day, Miguel came back and the remainder of the job was completed in a workmanlike manner under Miguel’s supervision. The PROBLEM was not the work itself, but Cameron’s mismanagement of the job by failing to keep Brian, or a similarly qualified crew leader, on the job from start to finish. That led to the communication problems, mistakes, and delays. A job that Cameron originally said would be done in 5 days took twice that. Just as disturbing, however, was Cameron’s unprofessional attitude and defensiveness. As customer B.H. posted here, he was «patronizing and unprofessional at times,» making it, ultimately, as that customer stated, «not a pleasant experience.»

I did not have a good experience with Absolute Maintenance & Consulting. I wish I had checked into other companies. I originally thought Cameron was going to be reliable and easy to work with, but I thought wrong. He was difficult to communicate with, patronizing and unprofessional at times. He didn’t do what we had discussed. It was definitely not a pleasant experience.

By far the best service I could have asked for. I’ll call them every time I have a need. We had a flooded basement. Absolute came out within a day, made me a proposal of exactly what needed to be done, did all the work quickly, efficiently and professionally. I was so impressed I asked them to check out some leaks on my roof, which they fixed and then came back a couple weeks later to follow up. If that weren’t enough, they helped me change my water filter at no charge.

I had an exceptional experience with Cameron Figgins and his crew. I needed water remediation due to a broken pipe that flooded my kitchen. The flooding also left me with mold issues, and ruined cabinets.
I had several quotes, many questionable and unaffordable. I chose Absolute. I ended up tearing up walls, rebuilding cabinets, tiling my counter. With the money we saved I was able to updgrade to stainless sink and fixtures.
He is a straightforward and super honest guy. I will not use any other company for remediation, tiling or remodeling in general. Cameron manages a very efficient crew and leaves no stone unturned. I will try post pics, keep in mind I went from an ugly 70’s counter and cabinets to a transitional beauty. Did I mention only 3 days??? Amazing…

This was the place to go. My wife and I had found a place that needed some serious mold problems we called this place and it was right in our price range and also had amazing service. Plus it was very flexible with the hours we needed them to be around. I tell anyone I know who has mold or water damage to call Cameron Figgins and his team, so far the 3 people who have used him after my recommendation have had nothing but great and positive feedback.
