Please give us at least a week’s notice in advance for most orders and at least a month notice for large orders such as wedding cakes.

History

Established in 2010.

I started baking when I was a student in cosmetology school back in 2006. At first I made simple treats like cookies for our pot lucks. Over time, I became daring and started to make cakes from scratch. When each of my classmates graduated from the cosmetology program, I would make them personalized cakes. For example one friend loved chocolate so I made her a giant «Hershey’s kisses» cake. Another friend always slept in class, so fittingly, I created a «bed cake» for her.

By word of mouth, I received requests for more custom cakes over time, and in 2010, we created «The Dirty Spatula».

Many people wonder how the name of the business came about. The name actually took months to create and consisted of many inputs. Eventually, a friend of mine asked me what my most valuable tool was in the kitchen and it was clearly my scraping spatulas and offset spatula. My spatula to me is a brush to an artist.

I’ve always had a passion for art, and baking is now one of my creative outlet
