Back in 2009, we adopted a lovely corgi that ended up being diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosis. We knew we wanted to save her but the cost of having heart surgery was astronomical, so we looked around at vet schools and OSU had the best deal and the least invasive surgery. We decided we would take a few days off work and head up to Stillwater for Spark’s surgery and visit Oklahoma while we were up there. Woohoo! Everyone at the OSU vet school were phenomenal. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. We originally went to OSU for the non-invasive catheter surgery, but ended up with the invasive procedure(opening her up) after the high resolution monitor in the cath lab short-circuited and caused a small electrical fire mid surgery. They were in constant contact with us during the various procedures and were always helpful when we had a question. Cost of surgery: $ 1000 give or take Cost of travel/lodging: $ 500 Cost of having Spark in our lives: priceless(thanks to OSU folks)
