Not to be trusted makes appointment, then calls that they are on the way and never shows up. Seth the owner will never return phone calls (I can show proof of 67 calls never returned) Seth will not return e-​mails also can show proof of that. The only time he called is when I emailed and called him an sack of shit I guess he has an ego. Perhaps I can speak about how rude he is but that can go on for ever.
Just avoid this company he now uses a cell phone and refers to himself as Seth I had to ask about the Campbell name he kind of avoids using it so be aware he now uses just the name Seth again avoid avoid avoid

It’s been almost 7 months since my review and I recall what happened because it made me quite upset. The items that were called cheap were my couch and the lamps I was going to take myself — all items we kept. The items that were asked to be thrown out were a broken down dresser, an old toy kitchen and a mattress. I asked if they could throw those items out at the dumpster located on my street and I more than appreciated that they did so.
Having the one person I said I liked call me after I left my initial review wasn’t going to change what happened. The crew leader may be highly reviewed by customers that weren’t talked about in their homes. I can’t change what happened but I can educate others about what they may experience using this company.

I have nothing but glowing remarks for Campbell Moving Co. They showed up on time, handled my stuff with care, wrapped everything to prevent damage, carefully filled my storage area in the most efficient manner possible, and were polite to me. Maybe it helps that I’m fluent in Spanish. I asked them to do additional work, clear out one storage unit & move things into the newer, larger unit. They did so without one word of complaint. In fact, they were gentlemanly & kind. Of course, I paid for the extra time & bought them Wendy’s for lunch (woohoo – big spender!), but overall, they were much more reasonable than the other companies that bid this job. I wouldn’t hesitate to call upon them again!

Well …according to Angies List, this should be a better qualified staff. I was quoted a price and told that there would be no surprises at the end, and this was a guaranteed price. Well, not hardly. I told them I needed some help packing some fragile china and glassware and they said no problem. Well, they charged me for 5 men to move for 8 hours PLUS another person to pack fragiles for 8 hours. The problem was there were only 5 men there TOTAL, and they charged me over $ 600 more for this one man to do a couple hours work packing the fragile china. The rest of the time he was helping move. I know because the lead asked if I would go and get them some lunch at McDonalds, they would pay me… which they didn’t. They had a difficult time getting the box springs down the stairs and knocked chuncks out of the dry wall in several places. I had to get painters in early the next morning because the new people were moving immediately and there was no time to waste. In delivery, my queen bed footboard was damaged, a ceramic lamp broken and they messed up the paint in a hallway going upstairs in the new house. I have called them three times and sent them two emails.,…each time Danny at the end said they would get back to me, and promised that I would hear from them today… NOPE, not a word. So, I chose the most expensive company, and they charged me an extra $ 630. Here’s the catch. I have a a carbon copy of the bill they gave me at the end of the day and I signed that they crew was efficient. The total bill on that was $ 6312.08 and they gave me the carbon. But, the copy that I was given for the charges was $ 6872 with additional charges penned in after I signed!!! FRAUD!

It is too bad Halloween is over because if you are contemplating a move this should frighten you plenty. Everything leading up to moving day was fine. On moving day, the crew called several times to say they were on the way. When they were 15 minutes late I called them to ask if they needed directions, they said no. 25 minutes late they showed up. With a truck that was clearly too small. I told them they were going to need a bigger truck, they said they thought so too. I asked them to call their office. I called the office too and got a recording. I went back out and told the guys that they had better just get started. They said, no. And left. I then called my sales person, Andy. I said, your guys just walked off the job. He became aggressive and threatening. He said that if I did not calm down, which I was not really feeling like doing, that he was not going to anything for me. So I became very calm and told him that I was going to trust him to do my move. I didn’t really want to tell him that, but he said, «Tell me that you are going to trust me to take care of this.» Bizarre. When I finally got in touch with someone at their office they apologized and said they would take care of it. They called back and said they had two crews on the way with two trucks. HOWEVER, it was now going to cost twice as much as they had originally estimated. Fortunately, my realtor had a connection with someone at Metropolitan Movers. They moved me, did a good job and charged me an arm and a leg. I thank them for helping me out and I figure I ended up paying them what I would have paid anyone once the entire job was done. The estimates you get from any mover are just that, estimates. They will come in and start to tell you that things are going to cost more right from the get go so beware of any estimate from any mover, but go with a good name. At least they will do the job you are paying for without stressing you out and threatening you.

Fantastic experience with these guys. They gave me a fair estimate to pack up and move from a three bedroom townhouse in Leesburg to a single family home in Orange. The estimator Paul provided me with options, and we chose the one that would be less expensive (hourly). the packers were extremely quick and efficient and didn’t lose or break anything. They movers were prompt and did a super job. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone.

Slow, difficult, expensive.
The first error they made was doing the estimate over the phone. The plan was that they would show up on Friday, allowing a holiday weekend to do the move. So, 9 AM Friday, they show up.
The first thing they say is that the cost will be double what they said. Not seeing any other option, I agree to pay double. They start. By three PM, they have carried one load with one truck. Another half load remained.
They then decide that they’ve earned enough money for one day, and quit for the day. They were unclear as to when they would return. It was the following Tuesday. They tried to charge triple their original estimate, but settled on double. Needless to say, my plan to unpack over the weekend was not in sync with the business practices of this firm. I’d estimate they took 110 hours from starting on Friday to finishing on Tuesday.
I’ve moved twice, since. I did not entertain any bid from this firm. Instead, I rented a truck, a better truck than any of theirs, and hired labor directly at the local labor pool. The cost was much less, probably a quarter of what Bill C. charges, and the result much more under my control.
My impression of the business is that it was one guy who owned three old trucks. He was nice over the phone, then changed his tune on move day, leaving you with an unsupervised crew of street labor, working at their leisure.

I decided to hire Bill Campbell and his moving crew after hearing a recommendation about their services from a friend who had just worked with them for her move. She said that they worked fast, took charge of her move, and that their cost was very reasonable. I did a bit of research, called the company and decided to get an estimate. Bill came over a few weeks before the move with a folder that included a moving day checklist and a line by line estimate showing how the estimate was calculated. We walked through my previous home room by room to discuss my move and Bill gave his opinion on what I ought to move myself (for example my son has hanging airplanes in his room that are fragile and would break easily) and what the movers would move (boxed items and our furniture). Bill also gave me tips on how to save money on this move: pack as much as we could ourselves and to move picture frames and lamps ourselves. I took his advice and set out to pack and set aside what I would need to move on our moving day.
On the day of our move, our crew arrived fifteen minutes early and got to work. They laid down protective fabric over our hardwood floors and got to work hauling boxes and furniture. Three and a half hours later we were on our way out to our new home. Junior, my crew’s foreman, asked me to give the crew a tour of the house to find out where boxes and furniture would go. I had numbered and labeled my boxes. I have to say that when I started unpacking, almost every box and item of furniture was placed in the right spot. I also liked that the crew took special care moving our furniture and boxes into our new house on our brand new hardwood floors. Not a single scratch.
When it came time to make our final payment, I was extremely happy that all of our preparation and hard work with packing had paid off. The fee was very reasonable and because my husband and I were so happy with how competent and friendly the crew was I tipped big.
I am so glad my friend recommended Campbell Moving. If I ever have to take on another move (and oh boy I do not want to have to do that again!), I would work with Campbell again.

I just completed what is now my *FIFTH* move with Campbell since 1999 today (8÷3÷2011), and these guys are a class act.
They charged me $ 150 an hour for a team of three guys. It was obvious to me from the minute they arrived that these guys were absolute pros.
The office team called me before the move to make sure everything was ok and to make sure I would be aware that they had wardrobe boxes that I could use. This morning, the truck arrived early, even calling me 15 minutes before they arrived to let me know they were coming and then promptly got to work. I was moving from a 4-​story townhouse in Herndon to a single family in Sterling. During the entirety of the move, they constantly asked me if the way they were doing things was acceptable, where things would be going in the new house, and kept me fully in the loop with everything they were doing. They immediately brought any pre-​existing damages to my attention (I had a lamp that was broken, for instance) to make sure we were in agreement about them and then packed everything in a manner that would’ve been suitable for a cross-​country move.
These guys never slowed down during the entire move, even with the extreme heat and humidity, never complained once and even managed to get a massive steel-​framed bed that weighs nearly 300 pounds up a very tight set up stairs.
Not a single item was damaged, not a single wall was scuffed, and I genuinely cannot find a complaint to offer up about the experience. I would use these guys again in a HEARTBEAT.
I really have to question some of the other reviews on here about these guys — I’ve literally been using Bill and his guys for over a decade — I can’t comprehend the vitriol of them at all.
As for the anonymous reviewer — 17 of 21 reviews this person has posted have 1 star. Anyone who posts THAT many nasty reviews behind an anonymous account completely makes me wonder what their motives are.

I contacted them for a move and though they are more expensive than their competitors, I figured they would be quick and professional — decent. Didn’t happen. For starters, their normal rate is $ 145 an hour for three men mind you, you are told you get three EXCELLENT MEN, which is not the case. What you get is 2 decent men at best and a kid who sits on break HALFWAY INTO THE MOVE WHOM YOU NEVER SEE AGAIN. I would have preferred to use a company that sent two men for this reason, but no, I had «you get what you pay for» in the back of my mind, and after an initial estimate and promise my move would absolutely not take longer than 4 hours (I moved a ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT WITH NO BEDROOM FURNITURE) and I was assured my rate would not exceed $ 600 to INCLUDE TIPS. Mind you, they are a local moving company who charges you $ 145 (one hour) for their drive time which I find outrageous considering they are 5 – 10 minutes away from the primary areas they serve… at the hourly rate they charge they should THROW IN THE 10 MINUTES IT TAKES THEM TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO THEIR LOT. Anyway, they were somewhat spared what I consider «normal labor.» To add to it I moved less than mile away so there was NO drive time clogging my bill. I was initially planning to go with another company that was far cheaper and was told by the owner that he would reduce my hourly rate to $ 135, which wasn’t some great deal, though he acted as if it was. Because I wanted to give him the business, I booked my move with him, not thinking I would be DUPED. My total bill for this move to include tips was $ 1100 for a one bedroom apartment, to move mile away with little furniture. When the crew first got going, they were fast and timely. things started slowing down after I commented how fast they were, and as one saw the clothing I was packing, he commented on how «nice» my things are. I am led to believe that was a $$$ sign of some sort and things slowed down. I was told at the time of booking by the owner that if they were slow, to call and he would «come right over, though it would not happen.» HE WAS OUT OF TOWN. His answering service was on as it was a holiday weekend and after leaving three messages that day about various issues, I never got a reply.EVER. To add to it, my DEPOSIT was not deducted for the invoice presented to me by the movers, and they could not reach the owner to resolve, That said, I decided it was best to write a check and I took it upon myself to deduct the $ 150. I was then told by the lead mover that it was UNUSUAL that I was charged a deposit as it isn’t «normal» So, I was somehow singled out as needing to pay a deposit? That’s nice. I wonder what triggers the decision that one has to or doesn’t have to pay a deposit? Gender, job, age? To add to the pot, the check I wrote was cashed in addition to him running through my credit card number he had on file from when I paid my DEPOSIT. That I FOUND OUTRAGEOUS. RECAP: MY PERSIONAL CHECK AND CREDIT CARD WERE BOTH CHARGED FOR A COMPLETE MOVE. I had a piece of my table missing they could not find to move ACROSS THE STREET and my lamps were disassembled for whatever reason (after I said not to) and as a result they lost the base. I left many messages about this and received no call back. even sent an email. He knows he screwed me over, which is why he is negligent in responding. He’s a good talker as he also states about one of his PT employees, so this is clearly what’s important to him — TALKING A GOOD GAME. I am far too busy with a recent move to deal with this, so I figure, since he is non-​responsive as is, in lieu of more aggravation, I will just leave a review so that other people are aware. To end up with a bill near 100% higher than the estimate is crazy, particularly in my case where again I had VERY LITTLE LARGE PIECES to move and moved 5 minutes way tops and that’s slow truck driving — 5 MINUTES. I suppose that, because the economy is so slow, they selectively guage folks they think will not somehow bring the situation to light. Ridiculous! I can’t imagine how long it takes for a NORMAL MOVE with these folks. KARMA is a ***** JERK and what goes around comes around (which is probably why you run a small-​scale moving company to begin with). Oh, but you judge others on their ability to pay a final bill and randomly impose deposits. Interesting, especially since you CHARGED ME TWICE for the move to the tune of 2K. WAS THE MONEY THERE JERK? YES, IT WAS. If he wanted to avoid an angry customer, he should have RESPONDED. Let’s say I left no message at all and simply had no issues, he KNEW he quoted me $ 600 INCLUDING TIPS for this moveWHEN HE SAW THAT BILL HE SHOULD HAVE AS A COURTESY MORE THAN ANYTHING, contacted me about it.
