Lethargic Boys are more like it. Went in for an inspection and was told it would be 45 mins, didn’t seem too bad. Then I was told it would be even sooner since another mechanic came in. Well, breakfast runs and water cooler chat seemed to in the job description. 2 hours later it was finally done. I won’t go back there again, you shouldn’t either.

Been there a few times love the service and I like the fact that nothing’s really expensive the service is pretty quick

This is the most dysfunctional auto shop I have been to. I was told that a routine oil change would take about 45 minutes and that was about an hour and 15 minutes ago. My car has been up on the platform for the last half hour and no one had attended to it. They are overpriced and for inefficient service.

I came here to pick up a battery. The staff was very nice, friendly, and attentive.

DYSFUNCTIONAL PLACE! NEVER bring your car here for an inspection. They will tell you the wait will be 45 minutes and you will wait 4 hours. Then, they will fail you so that you will pay for the repairs there and there will be a fee because you failed. Then, they will tell you that they can’t do the repair that day, you’ll have to come back when the guy who does that kind of work is in. Then, they’ll tell you that they have to order the part and then they’ll forget to order the part, so you’ll have to wait (make sure that you call them every day to be sure that they ordered the part). Then, they’ll tell you that they can’t find the part and when they do find it, it will take another week for it to be delivered. Meanwhile, now your car is past due for an inspection and you’ve already received a ticket and have to keep it off the street. It will take a month to finally get your car «repaired» so that it will pass inspection.

I brought my ’02 Mini Cooper in with a bad alternator. As I drove up, the ABS warning light was on – but no other idiot lights. Five days later I pick the car up… and when I turn the key, the Service Engine Soon light comes on. Back inside, it turns out the service dept. manager is gone for the day, so I need to come back tomorrow. The car stalls five times on the way home – the idle is too low. The idle improves on its own (the computer was resetting), and I drive back the next day no problem. The manager claimed that the SES light was on when I brought it in, and they had no reason to tell me about it. Really? The «mechanic» who worked on the car then says he got four codes – and when I say that they should have mentioned them, they look at me like I am a crazy woman. The mechanics obviously don’t care, and the manager has a skewed sense of customer service – I pity the customer with zero car knowledge, for they will get ripped off. I had them reset the codes, and vowed to never go there again for service.

This store is conveniently located on Forest Ave, but that’s all it has going for it. Everything is overpriced and the sales people aren’t helpful. The discount card does give great coupons and offers though.

If I can give this place a negative 5 stars I would. So i recently went to get the oil changed. I picked it up n drove home. Upon getting home I was about to add washer fluid and I noticed scratches and scuff marks on my front bumper. I immediately drove back to pepboys. Whn I arrived to pepboys and asked thm what happened, thy looked at me as if I had 6 heads. I asked to speak to the guy who handled my car n he left for the day. I asked to speak to a supervisor and apparently he was gone for the day. I made a complain with regional Company and i still have not gotten any results. This place will FUK ur car up. I will post pics of the damages pepboys employees have done.

I usually go here to get my oil changes and tune my car up. The guys here are good they know what issue the cars are having. And it’s much more affordable then going to a dealer and waiting on dealer parts. Quick easy. Fast check ups! And affordable too!

I came here today after getting a flat tire in Brooklyn where I work. i was very pissed off, just having a bad day, had to have someone else help me put my donut on. i had never been in this store before, and I just want to say that the guys at the service desk and in the service center were amazing and gave excellent service. they did not make me feel stupid (which I did already because I know nothing about cars) they helped me and fixed my tire for me, were informative, and helpful, and very sweet. i just wanted to post about the excellent service from them and thank them and recognize them for making my day a little bit better, they were also very quick as well, all around great experience from these guys, I will return here in the future!

If I could give a lower star than 1 I would. 2 weeks ago I went to have my brakes checked the associate stated my back brakes needed to be replaced and the front were nearly on their way out also. Never mind sitting in the shop for over 3 hours! For the cost of 700.00 they repaired them. Now 2 weeks later it feels like my car does not want to stop. I brought my truck back in and after waiting for them to actually take the car (over an hour) the same employee as last time stated I needed to fix my master cylinder stating that it’s leaking and has dirt and looks as though it’s been like that for awhile.
I am not a mechanic nor do I plan to be but for almost 1,000 job I think you should check the entire brake system the employee very rudely explained that I should tell him what’s wrong with my car ! That’s your job to tell me that’s what you get paid for he stated they do not check unless I complain about something I’m sorry am I supposed to go under my car and be like omg ! That’s what’s wrong I don’t think so.
Now being in the shop for hours I was fed up I refused for them to «fix» anything else on my car and left. I called a REAL MECHANIC who came and stated that besides using crap rotors that were actually hot and purple and according to him should not look like that (spoke to pep boys they said it’s normal they will be like that for 3 weeks) my mechanic stated that they basically messed my whole car up.
Basically if you want help with your vehicle STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS FIND A REAL MECHANIC AS THERE ARE NONE AT PEP BOYS AND SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND AGGRAVATION AND OF COURSE YOUR MONEY !! This place is just a scam they «fix» something then a short time after the same area that was «fixed «has a problem they wanted another 300.00 for the master cylinder they will can sit and wait because I will never step a foot in their establishment every again and I will never have them touch anything so much as just a light on my car. STAY AWAY!

I’d give less if I could. I came here once before for a flat tire (year or so ago). Took forever to fix and they didn’t even put the tire on correctly! Had to get it fixed again! Came back today to get my oil changed. I was told a 45 min wait. Not happy, but have to get it done. An hour and a half later, they are just getting my car in the garage! It’ll be another 20 mins. While here, met a woman who’s here for a 3^rd time this week after sitting around 4 – 5 hours each previous time all because they kept finding new problems and instead of fixing it then and there, they made her come back! Ridiculous!

I live in Brooklyn but happened to be working in Staten Island right next to Pep Boys today and decided to get new windshield wiper blades. The young lady who rang me up (Izzy) was AMAZING! After she assisted me with the wipers she saw that there was a line in the service area and she went right over there and immediately started helping the customers. One guy popped in my new wipers in about 3 seconds and didnt even accept a tip. They completed my oil change so fast that I can’t even remember how long it took. The staff there is courteous and very helpful. I will return there to get my car inspected. Thanks Pep Boys!!!

This place is very slow. Over 3 hrs to get tires. There was only two other cars. My car sat on lift with one wheel off while mechanic was just talking with co worker. At least 4 other workers just hanging out while car just sat on lift. Imagine if they were busy. Bad management not watching workers or just don’t care.

A friend recommended that I go to PEP Boys to have my AC checked on my Hyundai Elantra because they were so reasonable. I was quoted a price of $ 1100 which included many labor hours and parts I did not need. I was charged $ 50 for the diagnostic. I then went to Hyundai. My bill was only $ 500! Go there with caution. If you think your bill is too high it probably is!

I also came here to get my car inspected. I waited over an hour only to find that my car had failed it. Pep boys gave me a detailed list of what I needed to fix which totaled more than $ 1,000.00. When I said I would bring it to my own mechanic, they insisted on fixing my brake light which was out. I said, I’ll take it to my place.” Good thing that I did because it was the socket the light goes in that was broken.
So, pep boys might «do everything for less,» BUT if your car has any chance of failing an inspection, Pep Boys will fail it and then try to get you to make all the repairs there, hence costing MORE.

I came here today to get my car inspected. It was a Saturday and they were very busy with lots of customers. At first I had to wait a very long time to register my car, but once I did, they didn’t take too long. The staff was very friendly and I got a trusting atmosphere from them, perhaps because they have to adhere to corporate standards. A lot of the people there were getting repairs and tires and they seemed content with the service.
They have a very nice waiting area with a television where you can wait for your car to be completed and they give you a wait estimate if you want to leave and come back.
