Excellent food, and always freshly prepared. Compared to neighboring La Strada, which is also excellent, Gennaro’s is a fantastic value. The Sunday dinner specials are especially wonderful with a very affordable prix fixe selections. Their tomato gravy is tasty and is always consistently good. I tried most things on the menu and haven’t come across anything that wasn’t great, which includes pizza, veal, chicken, seafood and meatballs.

I’ve been eating here since it was Pizza Clown/Town and it has always been consistently great food. Never a bad meal, it’s a comfort knowing it is always there.

This place is a gem. Granted I ate here about 10 years ago, the food and service was great. We were treated like family and got our introduction to tortuffo, which was absolutely awesome and enjoyed at my sweet 16. I’ll have to come back and do a follow up review. I hope their ratings shouldn’t change by much, if at all.

The only reason my family and I stopped going here is the service! I actually don’t even know how they are still in business because they have the nastiest, rudest employees ever. They look miserable working there, you almost feel bad for them. The owner is a bitter old racist man who never smiles. There’s 1,000 other pizzerias on SI, try ANY other one!

Local pizzeria on one side and full sit down restaurant on the other. Fresh food well prepared; weekly fixed price menu a plus.

Had lunch at Gennaro’s today for the first time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed. When we first walked in, we were confused on which way to go. Apparently you can go left for a more restaurant feel and right for quick service. We went to the right which was less then impressive. The atmosphere and décor make the place seem very trashy. It isn’t pleasantly decorated or inviting. The furniture is worn and old looking and it looks dirty. We sat in the back where they have a model of the old place and it’s covered in a thick layer of dust. If they don’t clean that, you wonder what else is dirty. On top of that first impression, we were then«greeted» by a guy behind the counter in less than a nice manner. He wasn’t overly mean or anything but he was curt and short with us like we were annoying. We made our order with someone else and sat down. They came out with our food and plopped it on our table. No talking, just kind of threw it down and walked off. We all looked at each other and were like, «wow, they’re really not friendly here». The sad part is, the food was great. We ordered a bunch of different items and all were really yummy and came out quick. The only reason they actually are getting 3 stars is their food. Food was a 5, service was a 1… equals a 3! It’s too out of the way for me to want to go back to an establishment like that. On a positive note, the other side of the place looks like it was pretty nice. Maybe they should invest a bit more in the place because right now it looks like they don’t care much.

We have been going to Gennaro’s for several yeas and I cannot say I had a bad meal. The food is very good, plentiful and reasonably priced.

Just waited 45 mins for mozzarella sticks and a calzone with ham. Also ordered baked clams the was more sand in them then the beach. Oh and when the calzone finally came it was ice cold in middle and guess what? No Ham! So after i stuck my finger in to feel temperature and returned it the server realized that the old lady behind me got mine and I hers and was going to give her mine. I told her not to give it to her cause i touched it and she still tried to give it to her. Very very disappointed.

Love the food. Can’t go wrong on what ever you choose. Staff treats you like family. It’s a must visit every time I come to Staten Island. Even the location at the bowling alley is a win win.

The pizza is on the salty side, it appears to né the cheese brand they use. If the pizza wasnt so salty it would be great.

Love their pizza and their food is always delicious. The pepperoni pizza is better than anywhere else on in the neighborhood. Their pepperoni looks and tastes different, their soups are good and the shrimp parm hero is simply delicious. We order this place for lunch all the time and always enjoy it. Always a short wait for delivery and very pleasant staff.

Lovely looking establishment with below average food– the food isn’t worthy of your dollar. Big place with lots of booths for quick order and another side of the restaurant for dining in. Nice décor. We sat down in the dining area. My dad got a chicken parm with average taste and generous portion. My aunt got a grilled chicken salad– chicken on iceberg lettuce with tomato, reasonably sized for ~$ 6 and also average taste. Mozzarella sticks and fries were satisfactory. The truest disappointment was the pizza!!! This wasn’t even up to NYC standard pizza, let alone pizza from an Italian establishment in Staten Island. The pizza pie was much MUCH smaller than a usual pie is. The dough was barely held the pizza together. I picked up a slice and all the cheese fell off the slice… floppy pizza. Barely any sauce and lots of greasy greasy salty cheese. Canned mushrooms… how insulting to your customers and your establishment. Our server never came over to check up on us. The only thing I was pleased with was the fountain soda. Skip this place, plenty of significantly better pizza joints in SI than this garbage.

PIzza & food are OKAY. I have had pizza from here, delivery plenty of times, this used to be our go to pizza place once moving to the area because the in-laws always get from here, but much more is to be had honestly. Nothing about the food or pizza is bad by any means, it is very basic & predictable, but it isn’t anything special. We dined in randomly in the restaurant area, once. Never again. Service was fantastic, food was very basic at best. My hubby didn’t care for his dinner of veal parm — said it was overly chewy & greasy. He didn’t finish it. My pasta & alfredo sauce with grilled chicken wasn’t good either. The pasta was really undercooked & chewy, stuck together in bundles undercooked, & the sauce was flavorless & watery. The grilled chicken was strange as thicker parts seemed undercooked, not raw or pink but undercooked, & the thin areas where it was pounded out more — were crisp. Neither of us finished our normal sized portions nor took the rest home. The dining area is nothing fancy or good, just fancied up prices on the same stuff you can get at any pizzaria — just served in a romantic-ish dining area with white table cloths. Decent, bland, basic food… PIzza is Okay & the only reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2.

Ordered delivery from the pizzeria side, and it was absolutely terrible. Granted delivery was super quick but the pizza was horrendous. The slices where BEYOND small(for $ 3 something a slice for buffalo pizza) it was the size of a chucky cheese slice. While not only was it delivered cold, but overly salted. Also, since when does a pizzeria not have caned drinks? skip this place.

Pizzeria side and Restaurant side, take your pick. I enjoy their pizza, as long as you get a pie made then you know it is fresh and that goes for any place. Perfect ratio of crust to sauce to cheese. Add some more grated cheese please because I like cheese. Spinach rolls aren’t bad either. Their fried calamari is a bit chewy. Wine selection kind of sucks(«house» cab or merlot). I stick to pizza.

I hate to write a bad review for any pizza, but these slices are so tiny, with a basic Ellio’s style flavor, that I just can’t see how it works. It looked like a lot of regulars were enjoying the pasta dishes, etc. but for pizza, I would like to try other options. $ 2+ change for one slice.
