Dr. Helfand graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Polytechnic University in 1969 with honors. He later received his OD degree at New England College of Optometry in 1973. Dr. Helfand has been providing dedicated service to the Staten Island community for 37 years. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, visiting his family, playing golf, and cycling.

I have been a long time patient of this office. We like Dr. Helfand and keep returning for the attention he gives to our eye care. Just a comment: It would be nice if the telephone receptionist asked your name and «how can I help you?» Instead of «What type of insurance?» The front desk person always makes the first impression.

Dr Raymond Helfand was excellent and highly knowledgable. He took all the time I needed and listened to all my concerns. I highly recommended his services. His office staff was nice. The optical staff was also patient and not pushy towards making any sales. Parking is minimal due to location and construction on Forest Ave.
