My 2007 Audi A4 was making a funny noise so we took it to the Audi dealership. They performed «maintenance» on the car for $ 400 and quoted us another $ 3,500 to replace the timing belt and other things. We couldn’t afford that so I found Scotty’s on Unilocal.They were extremely fair and professional. We ended up getting everything we needed for $ 1400. Outstanding service — they went a day longer than expected and paid for our rental car. Highly recommend.

The temp dropped down to 10 over night very suddenly last week and it killed my old battery! Luckily I got a jump and was able to get over to Scotty’s right at opening. I explained that getting to and from the shop is a bit tough because I live here on my own, so they made a point to get a new battery and the other part I needed right away! I was out of there in 1.5 hours and only 30 min late to work. I really appreciate the work they do here!

Visited Scotty just before Christmas and they got me in for an oil change. In fact, when I dropped off the vehicle they squeezed me in and only had to wait 15minutes. They’re awesome. Never trying to up sell. Only making sure I got what was needed. They check out the vehicle and shoot it straight every time. Personal treatment from old school family auto shops is dwindling. Keep Scotty around and support small businesses. These guys are awesome and you won’t be disappointed. Down to earth, professional and awesome service. What else could you ask for?!

I recently moved to Stamford and i needed a mechanic for my old 2009 BMW with over 100,000 miles on it. Now as a female we all hate to deal with car issues because most of the time i don’t know what the mechanic is talking about! I didn’t want to spend thousands to fix this car it just wouldn’t be worth it. I told Lenny this and they fixed what had to be fixed to make it driveable at a very reasonable cost. He was very thorough and spent time with me on the phone to get into detail and explain what needs to be done to keep me safe and on the road. I found him on here on Unilocal because of his reviews and this is a mechanic i plan on using for my lifetime! They are honest, sweet and cost reasonable!

We bought a used car from another dealer in Queens and were having stall issues. Scotty took the car and troubleshot if for several days and helped us figure out what was going on and how to proceed. We expect to start using them regularly with our other 2 cars.

I used Scotty’s to evaluate a car I was considering purchasing. Scotty and his son-​in-​law Lenny were kind, helpful, honest, flexible, and extremely thorough. They checked over the car, drove it, and answered my questions. They charged me a very reasonable amount. My only regret is that I live 70 miles away; otherwise, they’d be my mechanics all the time. Wonderful, honest, highly competent people.

If you have the chance to go here — GO! Scotty is the nicest, most sincere, honest businessman/​mechanic. Both him and his son Lenny are experts in all things automotive. They answer the phones themselves and care about fixing only what’s wrong and correct diagnosis.
As other reviewers have said they’re honest and don’t try to charge you an arm and a leg for work that needs to be done. I have recommended this shop to EVERYONE I know.
They do quality work and they stand by their service. All of the costs are upfront and they truly care about both the cars they work on and their customers.
One service request I completed here was when my check engine light was on for the catalytic converter. Minchin GMC told me it would cost upwards of $ 600+ to fix it; Scotty told me it would depend on what parts actually needed replacing. He replaced one part of the converter instead of the whole thing for $ 250 and gave me an oil change.

I haven’t been here for service YET. However, I had a great conversation with one of the mechanics immediately after a pricey experience at Honda in Westport/​Fairfield.
The person who answered the phone when line for line of what Honda charged me for service and was able to confirm they would be able to complete the work for a better price (less the Honda parts). Not a big deal to me.
When the time for my timing chain to be changed is due (next month) I plan on using this auto service.
I truly appreciated the time they took on the phone — the way someone treats you on the phone is a good indication of how much integrity they have. Stay tuned!

An honest mechanic with reasonable pricing in Stamford? Imagine my surprise after having been taken in by a few bigger name places in my younger years. They are pleasant to deal with, are patient when explaining what needs to be done (and, perhaps more importantly, telling you what doesn’t need to be done), and they stick to the quoted price after the work is done. I will be going back for all of my future auto work.

The best mechanic you can wish for — honest and reasonable. Scott would always find the way to save people money and provides the best quality work. Can’t recommend him any higher.

Wow! What a pleasant experience with this auto shop! Great service and honest technicians! I am so glad their previous customers have left their reviews about the excellent services they received from this shop. And I am happy to share my own experience that also exceeded my expectation!
My husband noticed some loud squeaky noise when I stepped on the brake on the Memorial Day. We both were very worried about the safety of me driving the car and the potential costly repair and even replacement of the parts.
I called the shop this morning and spoke to Lenny, one of the main guys there. Lenny suggested that I bring in the car before lunch time so I can get the car back the same day. He also informed me the approximate cost for the replacement of all new brake pads and rotors. But he assured me that they would take a look first to see if that’s necessary. I was prepared for the worst scenario.
When I dropped my car off there, Lenny went out of his way to give me a ride back home so I can quickly resume working from home. It was so nice of him and I couldn’t be more happy and appreciated.
A little after noon time, Lenny called me back and informed me that they did a thorough check on all the parts of the brakes, test drove the car, but found no major problems that need to be fixed or require replacement of any parts. The only thing they found that may have caused the noise was the residual, dirt and other stuff that were stuck to the brakes, and they cleaned that up. In fact, Lenny told me that the brakes on my car were in good shape and should last for quite a while. He also explained to me some basic knowledge on the maintenance of the car.
So, except for that one hour of labor charge for the check-​up, they did not recommend me buying anything from them or charge me anything unnecessary. The cost of labor was very reasonable for this area compared to another auto shop I recently visited for tires. Lenny also promised me that if any noise comes back to the brakes in the future, I could bring back the car to fix on their cost.
When I drove my car away, that squeaky noise disappeared completely. I was so relieved and happy!
This really is a great auto shop — friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, excellent and speedy service at reasonable cost. And most of all, they were honest and did not make me feel I was dealing with the typical stereotype of untrustworthy mechanics. Lenny and his mechanics at this auto shop were awesome good mechanics!

After years, I have finally found a shop I could trust.

Talk about some of the most honest mechanics I’ve ever met. I could have easily been taken for on trip to Stamford, CT for work (I’m from MA) when I hit a pot-​hole and demolished my rim and tire in the process. The older gentleman Scotty was a great guy and you can tell Lenny the office manager was passionate about his work.
At first, it was something they weren’t all that interested in. I asked to see if they could get me a matching rim and tire for a 2006 BMW and That I needed it before the end of the day. I explained my situation being out of town and the guy Lenny told me he would help me out. Lenny told me to send some pictures and to read off a couple tire dimensions then he’d make some calls. I called a couple other shops in the area and they were more concerned with getting my car to there shop, or I never heard back from them at all. Lenny calls me back within an hour or so with great news. They have a rim and he knew he could get a tire. I had AAA tow it over and he took care of it for a more than reasonable price to fix it. I honestly would have paid another $ 1-​$ 200, easy. Walking away from the mechanics always sucks but these guys were friendly, hard working and it’s clear they value their customers. Anyway, I walked away from a shitty situation feeling victorious because of these guys.

Let me start by saying that I hope other auto repair shops/​garages are reading this. Not only are these guys honest, fair and trustworthy but they also treat women with respect and kindness. I cannot tell you how many places I went to before I found these guys and was treated like I had no place in an auto repair shop or got completely taken advantage of. Lenny and Scotty not only know what they are doing, know how to run a business but they are easy to talk to, friendly and they truly care about their customers. They called around to make sure I got the best price possible and were honest with me when it came to what I should fix and what can wait. I will be a customer for life. Thank you Lenny and Scotty!

My second trip to Scotty’s was as good as, if not better, than my first… and that was also excellent. My 2000 Honda Accord failed emissions again (a ridiculous CT law but that’s another story) and instead of changing the catalytic converter which would have cost $ 1200 and what many mechanics would greedily do, Lenny (Scotty’s son??) took the time to brainstorm and fix the issue with as little cost to me as possible. A new gas cap cost me $ 20. Not looking to make a profit, but rather help someone in a bind thereby assuring a customer for life, other local mechanics should take a lesson from Scotty’s. Absolutely the best.

Can only give this place 4 stars because they didn’t actually work on my car. But, more importantly, they advised me nothing was wrong!
Ran over a series of potholes in Stamford on my way in to work today. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas Tree! Check engine, ABS, Brake and TPMS (Tire Pressure) all went on. Brought it to Scotty’s after calling them and they accommodated me without an appointment! Lenny called me an hour or two later to say they checked it out, and nothing was wrong. He reset the Check Engine light and said «No Charge» and to remember him if I needed anything else in the future.
Should something go wrong that actually needs repair, you bet I’m going to bring the car to Lenny at Scotty’s. He was very friendly and excellent to deal with.

I moved to Stamford a few years ago and did not need a mechanic until this past week when my car started making a loud noise. Scotty’s was the highest reviewed mechanic I found, so I decided to try them out and was very impressed. The gentlemen at Scotty’s are very knowledgable and made me feel comfortable immediately. They identified my issue, ordered the part and made me an appointment for two days later. The job took less than 3 hours to be completed, and the parts/​labor were very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Scotty’s and will definitely bring my car back if I have another mechanical issue.

I needed front brakes on my 2004 Durango. I called around and got a variety of crazy quotes particularly from the dealer who said it starts at $ 600. I found Scotty’s on Unilocal,I went there because of the reviews. Here is mine.
5 stars! 10 stars! You call it. These guys are the best. Lenny, who answers the phone and man’s the desk, is fantastic. He is personable and straight forward and answers your questions directly. He gave me an approximate quote over the phone, took my car on the day he promised and did the job in one day. Oh yeah, and under budget! When was the last time your car guy did that? He said it would be about $ 400. It was $ 400, including tax and he repaired a broken wiper. I will NEVER go anywhere else. Period.

I have taken my 2002 Jeep GC into Scotty’s for three separate jobs and each time they did an excellent job. They looked at the list of repairs suggested by my dealer and were able to offer better pricing and a more reasonable assessment of what actually «needed» to be done. Scotty & Lenny are real easy to work with and did an awesome job. If you are looking for a quality mechanic in Stamford I would highly suggest Scotty.

I found Scotty’s on Unilocal and took a chance going to him since I’m used to bringing my car to the dealership, which was getting way too expensive.
I called Scotty’s and my first interaction with them was very pleasant. I explained my car’s issue and they were more than happy to accomodate my busy work schedule. I was able to drop my car off after hours and they called me first thing the next morning.
My issue was fixed within the day — not only were they prompt but they kept me informed of the process and steps they were taking to solve my problem. I really liked that they could explain in «layman’s» terms what they found.
The price was more than fair, half of what the dealership quoted me at just to look at the car! Scotty’s is officially the new family mechanic.
