O’Neill and Sons Inc. Moving and Delivery

Hands down the best movers i’ve ever hired. I have moved a lot and have used very high end westchester movers. Patty and Chris gave me a very reasonable quote for a big out of state move. The crew they sent were incredibly hard working, cheerful, honest and professional. They made our move as smooth as painless as a move can be.

I have worked with Chris and Patti O’Neill for two years, with several deliveries to and from Florida and Connecticut. They show up on time, they take care of items. They sliced open tape on boxes I had packed so I could open them more easily. They used padded blankets to move antiques. Only once was an antique table foot damaged, very slightly. It was fixed and they paid to fix it promptly. You do need to ask for the inventory, and it you have a lot of boxes that you marked they will use your number and then theirs on the list so you know exactly what is what. They even came back to the house in CT when I added a walker for my husband: they had already picked up the other belongings a week earlier. It was a nice thing to do.

We just used O’Neill and Sons for our move, and things did not end well. I never write reviews, but I am so disappointed by them and their behavior… I wish someone had warned me. So hopefully this helps you!
They gave us an estimate of $ 2000. They showed up an hour late, with the inadequate number of men and trucks. It was so bad that at the end of the day, they had to pull another crew to come and help finish the job. At the end of the process, they tried to stick me with a bill for $ 5500!
The bill had the wrong start times/​end times, and we were also charged for the second crew waiting around. That was just the basic rip off, flat out counting wrong and over billing us for hours that didn’t exist!
But the real problem is that they were not willing to assume any of their responsibilities addressing why the process took that much longer given their mistakes and why they were so far off the estimate! I ended up compromising and paying them around $ 4200 and I regret every cent of it.
Do not go there — they are dishonest. Moving is traumatic, you don’t need someone to take advantage of you during that process.

These guys weren’t on Unilocal,so I added them. And, now I know why!
I used O’Neill and Sons to pack and move .8 miles (yes, less than a mile) and this is my review since I’ve finally unpacked and seen the result.
I’ll start with the pros:
— the movers were very nice and courteous.
— they showed up on time to pack and the packing went fast.
— they used my felt floor protectors and added them to a lot of the furniture to protect the floors in the new place.
the cons:
— the big con: they overcharged us by $ 250. when I asked about it, they got very defensive and said I was «nickel and diming» them. I don’t know what world they are living in, but for my pocket $ 250 is a significant amount. chris o’neill was so defensive and argumentative, I felt bullied and extremely uncomfortable.
— the overcharge came from adding an additional ½ hour to the pack, and ½ hour to the move. they completely rounded up and decided to charge us for «prepping» their vehicles. that’s the price of being in the moving business — you prep your vehicles and I don’t pay for it.
— they charged us for wardrobe boxes that were ours, they just assembled them (we had them from our last move). when questioned, they said they would refund the money, but we haven’t seen that and it’s been weeks.
— the amount charged was over TWICE the written estimate. TWICE!
— they showed up to pack and the packing went fast and well. while they knew I had a small baby, they took it upon themselves to smoke in our driveway before the pack, I let it go, but ended up packing the master bedroom myself and shutting the doors since the smell on the movers was so intense. (too cold to open the windows)
— fragile items were on the bottom of the the piles of boxes. they were clearly marked fragile.
— we found the following packed in our boxes: a 3ft box with 3 small pillows in it. a box with some framed art, nicely wrapped, but packed with a moving blanket (why??) and 3 empty rolls of used packing tape that they were using to pack (what???), and several items that were wrapped in an obscene amount of packing paper.
— it was obvious they were trying to use more supplies than needed for the move in order to charge us more.
as reference: we’ve moved several times in the tri state area, across the country, and up and down the east coast. this move was only $ 800 less than moving across the country. INSANE AND UNFAIR! go elsewhere!
