The Local is your basic sorta dive-bar. Smoking inside, full bar, and pretty casual clientele. Great place to hit up on the strip if you want to smoke a cigarette, drink a beer, and play with punk-rock dogs wearing bandanas. Outdoor seating too, if the smoking doesn’t suit you.

The Local 662 is a small venue located on the popular 600 Block of Central Ave in St. Pete. It hosts a lot of smaller acts that you’d be hard pressed to find on mainstream radio. I have see a few shows here and the setting is intimate with front row being against the raised stage. The acoustics are pretty good for how the space appears(insert local dive bar reference) but of course this depends on the bands and their techs. The location is great for a complete night out. 1– Park on the street(for free) 2– Grab some food from one of many! great restaurants(see: Engine 9 /Hawker /Cyder Press /King’s Street food) to name a few. 3– Catch a good show(full bar inside). 4– After the show walk the streets for a snack or night cap. Great spot for a show where you are right there in the action!

One of St. Pete’s best night spots! Great music, exceptional sound & raised stage. Staff here are terrific! Stopped in one night for Karaōke & had a BLAST! LOVE this place!

I love this place! It is not for the faint of heart. It is the dingy local bar that everyone is always wishing they had. It is loud, smoky, dirty and rough. It is definitely a hole in the wall concert venue /bar where you come to watch mostly local bands. It is perfect. They have a liquor bar. I know they have some beer too, but I mostly stick to liquor here. Sailor Jerry’s and Ginger Ale are well mixed and cheap. There are pool tables. A couple of random statues /Mummy’s. Cool album covers hanging on the wall that range from The Airborne Toxic Event to Nonpoint to Tony Bennet(what the?). There are comfy booths, a decent amount of tables, a decent sized bar with TV’s and there is a rather large pit /dancing area in front of the stage. The stage is actually pretty nice and the sound system is incredible. If you are sensitive to loud music, you may want to bring earplugs(or stay home). I have been in the Local 662 for both concerts and just to hang and drink before a concert at the State. It may not be for everyone, but I love places like this and Fubar next door. I will be back again and again.

It smells like buttholes, probably because the bartender with the beard likes buttstuff

This is a fun bar. They’re not pretentious like some in the area, but it is sometimes harder to get a drink. They have a variety of events which are usually pretty entertaining for the crowd alone. The drinks are average and that’s not a bad thing.

One big open room . Free water for concerts. Stage is elevated. Good sound, super nice staff. Full bar ! Downside: single stall bathroom . For artist no green room, load in through back and close street parking . Located by tons of restaurants, bars, shops and coffee.

I was here a month ago and the ladies room door didn’t lock and tonight it STILL is NOT fixed. Don’t be that fucking cheap geeze! Bartenders are super nice and good sound but the bathroom thing boggles my mind. Fuck you!

My wife and I came to this location to see a concert for We the kings and even though it was a decent venue it had some things that I felt as though needed to be addressed. Coming from Virginia I was surprised to go into a venue where smoking was still allowed. Nothing ruins an experience more than having someone blow nasty cigarette smoke in your face while you are trying to enjoy the show. Also the smoky smell your clothes carry out with you. On a positive note the beer selection was expansive(when I finally found a beer on the menu they had in stock). Overall it’s a great place to have a show for a night out

I am a big music fan — heading out to shows as often as possible. Love this venue so much! I love that you can go in and out as needed(sometimes the cig smoke can get pretty gnarly in there). Drinks are priced right and the acts they book are typically pretty solid as well! The acoustics were great and the venue allows for an intimate experience with the band.

Came here last Friday to see a blues band, which was actually pretty amazing. Why they had them open I have no idea, because the rest of the bands sucked, especially the band with the Fred Durst wannabe. It was also pretty dead when we got there, around 9pm, so that was a little odd. $ 5 cover which I’m assuming is standard. Pretty decent beer selection but keep in mind, if you do go there and it is even the slightest bit crowded, be prepared to stand because there aren’t many seats at all. And don’t expect to have much conversation with your companion/friends because the music is LOUD. Very good sound system though — very clear, great bass, no distortion. Overall, if it wasn’t for Lame Biscuit, it would’ve been perfect, but I will definitely be back sometime.

Good music, good sound guy, friendly(!) door guy. $ 3PBR tall boys. The outside patio is nice, you can watch people rummage through the garage cans.

Been here a few times to see smaller touring bands(today is the day, local h). Bouncer/doorman is always super nice! Typical bar to see bands, smoky and kinda dirty, overpriced drinks — the usual ;) Yes, Local H was awesome and the sound was super bass-y, could feel the kick and bass notes in my stomach = awesome :)

Great venue for local bands. The Black Honkeys rocked the house! I hope they return. My only concern was that the bar ran out of limes, however I was offered an alternative that actually wasn’t that bad so props to the bar tenders for being creative.

I checked out a local band here last week. I had a great time. The music was plenty loud AND clear. There was a nice space for viewing/dancing. There’s also chill space towards the front and in the center where people can sit or have a table. The staff is nice, attentive, and efficient. The only reason this is not a four is the ventilation situation is a mess. I cannot believe how ungodly hot it was here. It’s hotter than hell in this place. And if I choose to stand and watch instead of dance, it seems to reason I shouldn’t have sweat dropping down my back like a whore in church.

At one point called ‘The Garage”, The Local 662 is one of those great spaces along Central Avenue that is essentially a big empty box that can be whatever you need it to be for the night. Bonus points to Pam the bartender for aiming me toward the drink specials when I neglected to ask(and pouring a nice cocktail). I was there last night for an arts/music event — the art was good, the music mostly not. No reflection on the place itself of course. The DJ did a nice set in the middle, then wandered off into some pretty bad stuff — guess he wanted to ‘educate’ his audience. Sadly for him, they were all there for the art. The artists were pretty awesome, and the crowd colourful — seriously though — if you are not skinny, you can’t do the skinny jeans. They only enhance your muffin top. And that was on the GUYS. *shudder* Oh, and bathing is really mandatory. Why do crusties seem to think that is it optional?
